After reading about this and failing to get close to gold in the last 2 rally tests, I chose to give up on all gold times for a while. Not worth the frustration. It took me about 100km to get bronze with no assists on (except tcs 1).

The test took me 3 or 4 hours and about 300 miles of driving with an infinite number of restarts. :scared: Guess I've touched each and every wet square inch of the track. I found the steering on the DS4 extremely sensitive and I felt like sometimes it just took a short breath at the wrong time to unsettle the car.
I've been driving without assists except ABS and ended up with a medium 25 lap.
All in all it's been a great challenge and I'll be back at it later to improve.

Nailed a 2:34 in my first completed lap. With a G29, no assists except weak ABS and no ghost.
A very, very conservative lap just to establish a benchmark, as there are other tests on Special Licence waiting for me to turn assists on, still almost Silver.
As some other posters said, for me the hardest part was to realize which portions of the track are wet, damp and dry going to Blanchimont. A flat out section where three of the the four previous attempts finished by loosing it completely.

Not easy, for sure, but not the nightmare some say. For me IA-10 was harder on the Merc just to bronze, although Spa test needs to put so much things together to gold it, it seems.

So... having watched a variety of streamers struggle with the final S licence - how long did it take you to complete it?

Looks like GT7's answer to GT4's iA-15, imo!

One lap, Porsche 917K, Spa Francorchamps on a half wet track, Racing Hard tyres.
🥇2:26.000 🥈2:32.000 🥉2:43.600
I actually had very little problems with this license. I think I got it in 5-6 tries. But some other licenses were a lot more difficult for me. With a controller by the way.

Well done RJ. I've spent about as much time as you on it, and only managed 2 complete laps so far! Second one was good enough for silver though. Blanchimont seems to be the worst place for breathing - the car just shoots off the track there no matter what speed you're doing.

Tried it with the demonstration ghost yesterday, in an attempt at gold, only to find that the ghost was at Les Combes as I was exiting Eau Rouge!

Ah b_t, you're right - it's a pain in the ass. What I do is carefully accelerate out of T15 and start coasting a bit through that first slight left, then gear down to third for Blanchimont with a little throttle ( if I get it right ), then slowly accelerate again ...
Can't tell you how often I lost my car there being 50 m behind the demo ghost. :yuck:

I'm waiting for your Gold time, mate !

Pain in the ass for sure. That slight left before Blanchimont was my downfall many times when I was trying with the controller, and I kept falling for the 'trying to keep up with the ghost' thing. After about the same amount of time as you and @bone_tone with the controller I gave it a shot with the wheel (first time in GT7) and after about half an hour and one silver run (which is when I found out I didn't need to chase the ghost so hard) I switched TC on, the ghost off, and achieved gold first go. I won't be going back ever again!

Got the hang of Blanchimont a bit more today, 2 hours work and I knocked 0.2 seconds off my time - only 2.5 seconds to find now....... (is that about another 12.5 hours of grinding?)

After about the same amount of time as you and @bone_tone with the controller I gave it a shot with the wheel
Glad you had success with the wheel - I couldn't even imagine doing it with a controller!

I'm really strugling with this one. i've spent the better part of 4 hours and have managed only to finish 3 laps. best so far is 2:29:260
It's so frustrating.

Have you tried different settings for the driving assistants?
Don't be afraid to use them, they can be helpful to make a round after all.
I managed my first gold period there with all the assistants. After that I disabled some and further improved my time by improving/tweaking the smallest details.

I'll try and do that. S-7 was particularely hard for me as well. spent 5 hours on it :boggled::boggled:

A couple tries.

I turned all assists to max, with TC5 and steering sensitivity turned down to like 3.

You really gain time attacking the wet eau rouge kerbs for more speed down the straight and can take it easy elsewhere. Got a 2:24.

I'm very happy for you, I hope my tips were useful to you and will be of help to others. Have fun with the RedBull, he can help you with the missions, for example. help in LeManse :D!

Yes your tips helpend me. i turned up countr steerign assist. manged to finish 3 laps in a row
Thank you!

It took me about 3 hours. First, I tried with assits off (except ABS). After getting silver an try to gold several times, switched to TC1, but I was so used to drive without it that I felt the car reactions a bit weird, so TC0 and try to pass Blanchimont with very sensitive feet and, finally, got the gold. Except the 2 first start-stop lessons, I liked the driving licenses of this game.

After about a million tries, I wake up one day, and on the 5th try I got it with a 2:24,something

(Turns out I was trying toooo hard, had the most trouble with eau rouge and the fast turn just before the last chicane. Just had to remember to lift through that fast turn.)

Took maybe 3/4 an hour or so, was pretty frustrating TBH. Coming off the straights touching water will send you of track & fail the test. Learned to brake way early before turns & feather thru them
Agree! It was a real challenge 3/4 hours. Knowing this was the last gold to get made it a bit more of a challenge, the last one which gives you the trophy of all gold in the license test was never going to be easy.

After tips from digit gaming (asm on and countersteering strong on controller) i managed a 2:27:3xx at the first complete lap (some tries before that, which i had to abort).

I hope i can do it again but faster. Other S-Licenses or Missions which i only got silver/bronze seem harder to me if going for Gold.

One thing that helped me get through Eau Rouge and Raidillon was to gently ride the brake while still applying throttle up the hill, I felt it kept the rear of the car loaded and stopped it from coming around. Avoid the curbs entirely as they are a death sentence.

After numerous restarts…
Tremendously gratifying.
T300RS
ABS Default
TCS 1
But in my excitement, I forgot to save the replay. 😩😅

DS5 controller no assists except ABS, the target time is very forgiving so passed within 20 minutes.

Decided to keep chipping away and down to a 2:22.235 now but a 2:21 is possible. Not sure how the aliens are doing 2:19s though

Today attempted a few pending S license tests & came to this one. In the start, it was tough to even go through Sector 1 as touching a patch of water meant doom.
After driving a few cautious laps, I managed 1:27:510. But was finding it hard to close towards gold. I realized lifting off at fast turns was the key. At the end, I managed a 2:25:100. I was happy as this was the most dreaded test. Some things to note:
  • Racing hard here felt worse than sports hard tires. Unbelievable when on a wet patch. As if on ice & the car doesn't want to stop sliding.
  • I tried the TCS assist & countersteering one too. I realized strong didn't help with turning whereas off made it too tricky. Weak is the best option. TCS option 2for sector 1, TCS option 3 for sector 2 & TCS option 5 for sector 3.
  • That guy who keeps appearing once in a while with a crazy grin suggesting to see the demo, should instead suggest PD to make a RH tire good enough. It felt as if the RH tire was completely worn with the ridiculous sliding.

Pretty normal that Race Hard is worse than Sport Hard in the rain, Sports have threads for the rain, Race tires have no threads, hence why they're called "slicks"
But I have to agree that lifting through the fast turns is key in this race.
