Mechanically inside, it had very similar mechanics to the rally version, just with detuning work and a different exhaust system which reduced the overall noise generated from the car.
What powered the Kamata GTR was the VS25DAT, a 2.5L Turbocharged V6 capable of producing 276 HP and 298 lb-ft of torque. The engine was mated to a 5-Speed Manual coupled with an AWD drivetrain with Zenshi's own SM-AWS technology, which featured 4-wheel steering.
The exterior overall reflected it's rally racing variant, minus the extensive aerodynamic elements within the bodywork. Compared to the regular Kamata, the GTR was much wider, and sat a tad bit lower, but had just enough room for it to go over rocks and gravel with ease. Inside, it looked a lot like it's regular counterpart, save for a MOMO steering wheel, Recaro sports seats, and a couple of extra switches on the center console. While it was focused heavily towards the front driver and passenger, most passengers in the back could still sit with ease without lack of space.
The Kamata GTR ended production in 1999, while this was sad news for some, Zenshi made way for a following successor, which was released two years afterwards and took on the off-road competition by storm.
