Zenshi GTZ Skyblu Technica Limited '98
The 5th Generation GT was first released in 1996 taking the spot for Zenshi's sports GT car once again.
(Base GT model)
For this generation, the GT's past straight-6 engine has been dropped in favor for either a 2.0L or 3.0L V6 engine, with 150 HP and 210 HP, respectively.
Taking the role as the high-performance GT once more, the GTZ is now equipped with the supercharged 4.0L VA40SCR V8 engine, which was advertised to have only 276 HP, but in actuality had over 320 HP and 375 lb-ft of torque, compared to the past naturally aspirated SA40DC. Transmission choices for all models were between a 4-Speed Automatic or a 5-Speed Manual.
In 1998, the GTZ was updated internally, with the VA40SCR having a torque upgrade from 375 to 395 lb-ft. The automatic transmission option was now dropped as well, leaving only the new 6-Speed Manual.
Later in the year, Zenshi sponsored one of Japan's all-star soccer teams, Skyblu Technica, by making the Skyblu Technica Limited. Many changes underwent this special version aside from the notable visual upgrades, with a unique blue paintjob and DR-GRAY'S performance wheels.
In comparison to the regular GTZ, the Skyblu Technica Limited was an all-star athlete, stronger and lighter than the normal counterpart. All presences of leather, excluding the steering wheel and shift boot, was stripped in favor of sports cloth upholstery, and black and blue coloured sports seats by Benchmaster. A rear strut brace was also installed to improve the driving dynamics even further. The Supercharged V8 was once retuned for better response and performance overall, with power secretly increased to 350 HP.
