Ok, Round 1 has started, you have in the post above all the information you need.

One word about driver #20 (PSN ID MHailwwod aka Sarrinen69 in this forum). I didn't have his confirmation in the Event Main thread, but he did in fact apply for this event before it was even open and the last time he logged in here (October 5th) is before I opened the Event thread (October 6th) and asked everyone to "confirm" their previous entries in it, for a second time. He probably doesn't even know by now that I asked this.

All things considered, I decided to include him in the list and have his name up for the pair-sorting. He has been paired against PSN ID cooldawn (AKA Vincent Viceroy in the forum). It's up to cooldawn to contact him through PSN to schedule their race. If he doesn't show up and that race doesn't happen, cooldawn wins by default.

Now, I ask you all to make contact with your pairs and arrange a day and time to do your race. You have until next Sunday to do it and PM me the results (through PSN).

Good luck to all.

EDIT - When this Round is done, we will have 10 winners and 10 losers. The 10 winners proceede to Round 2. And 2 of the losers will also get a slot in Round 2 thanks to the "LUCKY LOSER" rule. When the Round ends, I will check the "Misano/360 GT" Leaderboard and the 2 fastest laps published there from all the 10 losers will grant the ones who achieved them access to Round 2.

This way, we "even" the possible unjustices we might get from having pairs with similar and great skill and, at the same time, pairs where such similarity doesn't exist.

But please take note of this: The fastest laps of each player, to be valid, must be achieved without ANY assists (meaning, with the same conditions that apply to the event races), so take great care with your practising times. If you use assists in practise, you may not be able to replicate or better - without assists - the laptimes you achieve that way and, therefore, you won't have any valid laps shown in the relevant leaderboard.

On a positive note, at least this time, ONE of us will make it through to round 2.

Well, in FC ROC I managed to get myself into Round 3, but without really deserving it. It was a very bad Event for me (as a racer, had a wonderful time as the organizer).

Round 1 - lost against mhm66, got lucky loser slot to access Round 2

Round 2 - won by default, my pair (GTP_Graffen) conceded me victory

Round 3 - was like this:
About my race with Zedux, we had an unfortunate mismatch last night. We had our race scheduled close to the deadline but a unexpected birthday dinner invitation (I couldn't refuse) made me arrive late and Zedux was offline. I waited until close to 3:00 AM (pushing the deadline :D ) but finally fell asleep in front of the TV. This morning I woke up and saw three race invites from Zedux, just a few minutes after 3:00 AM :dopey:

I guess it's only fair to give this round victory to Zedux, I suspect that in any case our race woudn't end any other way ;)

Anyway, as you say, one of us will get to Round 2 by winning. The other will have to check for a possible lucky loser slot.

I want a kiss from her if I win my round ;)

All girls will only kiss the CHAMPION when all rounds are over, sorry! :D
(you can buy her a drink after the race though :sly: )

I saw this and gulped. He's effin' fast.

PLEASE DON'T SHOW UP, PLEASE DON'T SHOW UP.

;)

Let me know when you'd like to do it fella.

 👍

AAwwww what a bummer... :P Ok well, that gives me some motivation... off to practice!

It's a shame they didn't put proper penalty zones on all of the circuits; Misano is one of these! So just want to clarify that those green sections at the apexes are not part of the race track (especially at the quick right-left chicane).

Alan, about that let me quote the relevant part in the Main Thread:

....
The Cars and the Race Rules:
....
GTP OLR rules & guidelines apply for any issue about track behaviour. In case you don't know them, or if you have any doubt, check them here: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=111241
........

And, to be more precise, I will quote the relevant parts of the GTP OLR Rules & Guidelines

GTPLANET OLR RULES & GUIDELINES
01: J:
Cutting the chicanes or "shorting" the track at any point is strictly prohibited on all parts of the track, including the asphalt-areas in behind out-of track-lines. Track specific boundaries will be clarified in the Race Specifics section of any given event.

...........

16: B:
Two wheels (except when airborne, where the vertical projection of the car onto the track counts) must be in contact with the track/circuit which includes the rumble strips and footpaths, but not grassed areas.

16: D:
All green areas are not part of the track unless otherwise stated in the Race Specifics section of any given event.

16: E:
Curbs, sidewalks/pavements are not part of the track unless otherwise stated in the Race Specifics section of any given event.

16: F:
Tarmac/Asphalt or any other kind of surface mentioned above that are situated beyond the normal limits of the track, Run-off areas for example, are not part of the track unless otherwise stated in the Race Specifics section of any given event.

16: G:
Any kind of rumble strip made of concrete, stone etc are part of the track unless otherwise stated in the Race Specifics section of any given event.

..........

16: L:
The use of shortcuts (e.g. in license tests, lessons or events) which are based on bugs in the game is prohibited.

The fact that the game will allow you to take shortcuts does not account for a valid run.

So, no corner cutting is allowed and everyone is expected to comply with that and play fair. :)

Dont worry Alan i would rather lose than cut corners but was thinking the same thing today when i was having a pratice's as you can cut in a couple of places around the track without any penaltys but as i said i will only stay on the black stuff.:):)

Is the rule not simply that 2 wheels must be on the track at all times?

I didn't have yet the opportunity to drive this week, and tonight I won't have that opportunity also, but I'd like to ask any of the participants to test if the "quali" race works as it should and the grid in the following race has on pole-position the guy that did the fastest lap in the previous race.

And, after that test is made, to provide feedback here.

Thanks! :)

For you it's 3 minimum.

As you were.

:sly:

What's that supposed to mean? Do you see me as a threat Jeff? :dunce: On the contrary, I am the resident whipping boy for the competition, but I'm really looking forward to racing with UKOG Geordie tomorrow. I had a chat with him on PSN and he's a sound bloke, the name's George, but he's suffering with the flu so we're gonna race tomorrow instead of tonight.

Good luck to you both, don't forget to set the grid to "fastest lap" and then to do the "quali" session (2 lap race, just to set the grid for the main race immediately afterwards), unless you both agree to race with random grid.

Will wait for news! 👍

EDIT - Oh, and don't you take defeat for granted, UKOG Geordie is a very impressive driver (one of the best really) but even the best do their odd mistakes, and at Misano, even a slight mistake can cost you dearly. So, just give it all you got from start to finish. That's what's expected from all of us, regardless of our speed!

In any case, have fun! :)

I am very pleased to notice that the top of the relevant game leaderboard is getting filled with ROC contestants's laptimes! :)

...
28. frawe - 1:44,02 (TC/RL)

PLEASE NOTE: Laptimes in RED are laptimes from ROC racers but made with driving assists, therefore non-eligible for granting lucky loser slots.
Laptimes in GREEN are from non-ROC players.

I got a bit of a problem... I wanted to have a practice session last night and I dont have all the cars unlocked... so I cant practice with the 360 GT... Is there a game save somewhere or something? I know its not the most honorable way to do this but I have no time to grind for cars at the moment... any help would be appreciated... 👍 Or is it possible to make an online race and practice there?

FIXED! ;)

It seems the competition is heating up! :mischievous: At least in the midfield. :ill: I don't think the top three are touchable.

Hi Blitz187,

The 360GT is actually easy enough to unlock by completing the beginner competition in Arcade. You can then put your own stamp on the car which you can't do online.

Oh really? That helps :) I think I'll do that so I can make a nice livery for when I get my *** handed to me in my race... :D Thanks for the info 👍

Hey, didn't know that, I don't have the car unlocked also. Will do it tonight, like to race with my own livery ;)

btw, turnupdaheat (is there a simpler name to call you? with less letters please :D ), many thanks for your hosting last night. And great driving!

PS - I'm not too unhappy about mine. First race got a best lap of 1.43, after 4 or 5 races I was settling in the 1.41's with a ocasional best lap at the 1.40.

Target is getting consistent 1.40's with occasional 1.39's. Being honest with myself, I guess that's the best I can aim for. :)

Last night I really enjoyed racing with you guys, despite of being much slower.

I have a long road ahead of me in order to get consistent lap times. My best lap time at Misano speaks for itself :< (1:43.16)

I was pleasently surprised myself when I found it as I don't normally do arcade.

When you announced the 360 GT as the car of choice for the first round I was scratching my head wondering how I could get my hands on it and then, lo and behold, there it was.

It's a car I like and handles well. It's particularly satisfying when you get a nice controlled drift around the series of curves following the long straight.

God damn it!! I hate those series of curves following the long straight. About 7 out of 10 times I hit the sand.

I believe If I can nail it I can get into 1:41's

BTW Hun,

As far as the name goes I don't even know myself why I picked it! Unlike you lucky people living in sunnier climes, turn up the heat is something we in Ireland have to say quite often!!

My name is Derek which a lot of people shorten to Del.

Actually, I'm a little bit uncomfortable calling you Hun. It's normally an affectionate term I call my wife!

Misano is very tricky because of the lack of run off areas. Unlike a lot of the other tracks where you will lose a small bit of time if you run wide, here you are punished heavily by being bogged down in the sand.

I noticed a lot of people last night leaving their braking really late, running wide and leaving space for the following car to nip inside. I think when practicing it's better to brake too early initially and then gradually leave the braking later and later till you find the perfect spot.
