Power To The People?
A simulation on a hypothetical scenario
on the topic of wishlists and gamer influence
on the development of the next Gran Turismo.
A simulation on a hypothetical scenario
on the topic of wishlists and gamer influence
on the development of the next Gran Turismo.
All of this is of course entirely fictional!
Here is the scenario:
Polyphony Digital has grown tired of people complaining that they never listen to the gamers, so now they have given the gamers an exclusive chance to build a new game where they can decide for themselves what features they want to include. For this purpose, the gamers has together formed their own studio, called "GT Fans Studio", which will be in charge of the project.
The game will be based on Gran Turismo 5, and the gamers can now add, change or remove features. In order to do this, the gamers previously set up a wishlist with all the features they would like to see (except from cars and tracks) in this new game.
However, the development is done with a finite amount of time and resources and it's estimated that a maximum of only 50 features can be added, changed or removed.
In order to decide which features on the wishlist that will make it to the game, the gamers decided to let everyone vote on their favourite features, and those who got the most votes would be included in the game.
(For the purposes of this scenario, there are no hardware limitations that restricts what is possible and what is not. All features on the list are technically possible to implement.)
The rules:
Using the wishlist organized in "Things You Want To See In GT6 Besides Vehicles and Tracks", a Google Form has been created containing all the items on the list, ordered by topics.
Any person can vote any number of times and select any number of items on the list. If no item in a topic is interesting, select "None of the above" and move on to the next topic. No new items can be added to the form.
The form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1Heouk8F9jJNLFdWy7Kiq7sOHn66d0RWouJj7gIirNH0/viewform
The form will be open for votes for one month, closing July 13th and the top 50 features will be the features selected by the gamers to be included in the next Gran Turismo.
The form is rather long. If it seems like a long and boring process, this is exactly what Polyphony Digital would have to go through if they were to collect suggestions from gamers. If you want them to do it, you should take the time to do it yourself too! Chose wisely which features you like the best, only the top 50 will make it to the final game!
Good luck!
