Scion xB fan club!!!

I just went to the site to see what was offered on these things. First off for the price the sound system you can get blows. I paid a lot less and got a heeluva lot better system.

Also illumenated cup holders??? What the hell? Who needs those?

But the tC looks good, even though it looks like Toyota ripped everything off on that car...*cough* BMW's headlamps.

I don't know why couldn't toyota just slap there name on this?

Ya what else is so appealing? Its a box, I can look all day at a box. Hell at least I drive a rouned box, that things just square. And there isn't much power.

I also fail to see how that things good mileage at all. There is no aerodynamics at all.

I'm just will to bet that this thing will be a flop just like every other car that has tried.

It's interesting that if you look at the Rav4 nobody complains or says it's ugly even though that's pretty much a rounded off box which loses space or like the VW Van, yet the xB gets hammered.

True there's not much aerodynamics but it's not like they are claiming this to be in the sports car category speaking of SUVs why does the xB get so much flac when a vehicle like the H2 is soooo much worse??

Last but not least... According to my uncle working at Toyota in Sacramento, Ca. they can't keep them on the lots and people that live in areas where Scions haven't been released are impatiently waiting for their arrival.

I don't really believe in their "customizing" marketing anyways, because it's pretty useless stuff and you can get it in aftermarket anyways. Not to mention they were focusing this car toward kids around 17 who just got their license so that's why the price is so low.

As for the sound system I don't care as long as it sounds decent. After geting my **** stolen twice it's not worth it to waste all of my time and money when no one respects anyone elses or their stuff.

tC, erm... title xB fan club... go to that tC thread and talk about tC stuff there where that's the subject.

Are these things on the road in America yet? If so, I saw one over the weekend and I have to say it looks a lot worse in person. I'm sure there is a market for it, but I'm not in it. Why not just get a mini van?

Because minivans aren't geared to the under 30 drivers.

I've yet to see the better looking xA, but I have seen the xB. I promptly made fun of it. I probably said something to the effect of "Hey, look! A box on wheels" or something equally clever. Though, I must say that I think this car will do well for whatever reason.

Do xB and xA stand for anything? Or are they just trendy names?

A friend of mine bought a new XB 5-speed. Lots of fun to drive, not very fast, but peppy in all the right places. I really like the looks of the car, he has lightly smoked tail lights and the stock black steelies. As soon as he gets some cash I guess some suspension parts as well as some better tires are coming in. Anyhow, if you guys are interested in any parts for your Scions, either XB or XA, go here and send me a price request.

**** off, just leave if you don't like this car, but don't just sit there complaining and wasting posts.👎

I have tried being patient with you, but you just show disrespect over and over again.

Not a fan of the XB, I think that it's over styling defeats the simplicity of the original Bb (black box).

I'm a huuuuuge fan of the Bb and the Bb Opendeck though - fantastic cars! I've been saying this a long time now, but maybe a purchase is in order, but I really can't choose which one :( Black Bb or black Opendeck???

As you know, with any crowd geared around a certain car, there are party poopers. Some don't like the Xb (Toyota Bb in Japan) because it is... well, "ugly." Me personally, I think the car is pretty cool. It's like an SUV, for people who'd rather not have one. You can also think of it as a hatchback or station wagon that can't decide on one or the other. It has no real designated name. An example is the Chrysler Crossfire. Is it a street legal race car, or is it a luxury car? And as a follower of ladies' fashion, I know that illusion can make for some stylish touches. And besides, the Xb is unique. Being able to break away from the main crowd is always key to a car's success.

Tokyo Xtreme Racer Zero had a concept of the car that I hope someone can make into a "sub-subculture." If you remember from TXR0, there was a Wanderer you had to face on Kanjyo C1 Inner (or Outer maybe?) who rides in a mini-truck that looks like a Toyota Bb? This mod was mid-engined and had rear drive. Plus, it's a racing machine. I hope someone can perform that certain mod and maybe start a sub-subculture. But then, do you take a chance at modding a fairly-new car? I think this car can compete with the more powerful Honda Element. But all in all, the Xb/Bb won't win any muscle car drag races or even any NIRA events, but it will win the attention of the young and young at heart.

in Japan the Scion xA is called the Toyota iST, and even tho im only 14, i do like these cars, very cool

just bought a 2008 nautical blue second gen XB awesome car for the price the looks are growing on me

Today I learned there's actual real life people still buying these.

I saw a really nice one that Scion was displaying at the Long Beach Grand Prix. It was rocking only Scion/TRD parts except for a surf rack. It looked really nice and I'd definitely rock one with a 5 speed if I had to.

I didn't even think they made them anymore. Shoebox cars. Don't know how anyone could be a fan of them.

The original xB was light and nimble, but a tad underpowered. But when the 2nd-generation came out, it was quicker (having another 50 horses) but felt a bit more sluggish by gaining 400-500 pounds. It also had all the safety doo-dads that the first car wasn't impeded by (like traction control that can't be turned off) and a few more luxuries. From my experiences in the depths of the Scion forums, fans generally drew a line in the sand between the generations, because they're that different, although there's some who really like both. And to be fair, the new one looks like it's designed with an absolute minimum of fuss, and could conceivably be a reasonable minivan without all the stodginess (not crazy about the 2011 model year facelift, though).

I don't like the center-mounted gauges at all, from my driving experience with it; but the original xB was a rather unique car; it could swallow as much stuff as a small SUV, and handle fairly slickly for what it was equipped with. They sold a lot better than expectations; TMC was expecting the wedgy little xA to outsell it 2:1, but the xB wound up outselling it by a significant margin in the first coupe of years. I think 2013 is indeed the last year for both the xB and xD (the xA's successor).

Whatever, I like my xD: most of the cargo hold of the xB with some nimble moves. Light controls, no fluff, holds lots of crap, fits in any open parking space, has no blind spots, and slices and dices with decent rubber. Not everything is a Miata nor an E30. Then again, it usually sits in a parking lot five days a week. And it's a nine year-old thread.

Every car has their own fan base. Just like most people hate the big, floppy, underpowered, slow, etc. cars that are classic Lincoln's and Cadillacs, I love them.

Although I see your point. :sly:

Original design was very controversial, but I thought they were cool as hell. I wouldn't worry about the vocal haters. This was a very different looking car, and plenty of people loved it. Besides, plenty of people also complain when cars look too similar as well.

The original box design was so controversial, I actually took a poll in my department at work place back when(rival shop to Toyota, an American). Surprisingly, it was a exact split, 50/50.

Granted, it was a small poll(32 people or something), but when you consider the radical design of the car & the environment this poll was taken in, 50/50 I think was a pretty big win.

I still love the original xB. Newer xB looks nice with rims(take it easy...), or when lowered, but I don't like them as much as the original box.

Edit: I wish I had one like this.

In your opinion.

Did he say otherwise?

+1, I do quite like this car. There are so many cars that look very similar these days so it's kind of refreshing to something standing out from the rest, reminds me of the Nissan Cube, and Juke for that matter.

Yes Slash, that's my opinion.

I still think the second gen xB is one of the most tragic examples of "designed by a committee" of our time.

Keep in mind that I haven't actually been in one (I've been in the original one and the Kia Soul, and driven the Nissan Cube), but you can almost feel them going through the focus group checklist just looking at it compared to the first.
