Searching For Evidence of Hidden Things

I just recently found an interesting note in the European version of GT2 (dunno if it's in the others too):

On one of the license infos (don't remember which specific one, it's where you have an overview of the tests), one of the tests say something about corners. After the brief title there's usually a name that indicates the track. This one indicates.. (drumroll) PALM STRIP!

I will edit an evidence photo in soon so I can prove it.

I remember that, I believe it was one of the IA license tests where you're in Apricot Hill.

I finally managed to upload those screenshots of that hidden drag strip/abandoned modeling (call it what you want:)) on photobucket. There are too many pictures for me to fit on this one page so i provided links instead. Here are pictures of what many call the hidden drag strip and here is what i believe is the "2nd drag strip". There not exactly in order, but on the 2nd drag strip i circled where i think it is and the rest is me driving through it.

Oh yeah, I think I've found the 2nd one before on Laguna seca at one point. I wasn't sure if it was an actual drag strip or just random track data based off of Laguna seca though.

I found the English version (OPSM-UK one) of what karelpipa posted here (IIRC) previously. This happened when I was searching for GT1 Hint Cards (sort of trading cards).

For the record, the article said that Volvo and Saab refused to work with PD at that time! Guess what happened years later... ;)

^ Some very cool cars there (Mini, PT Spyder, Hatsuoka GT-R, Vector Atlantique, & TVR Cerbera).

-> But what the hell is that Subaru 360 doing the Mexi-flush stance!? :boggled:

That's how the 360 looks in the demos I have. So i'm guessing they took a picture of it, regardless of how complete it was.

This may sound wierd, but I think that the hidden McLaren F1 GTR used the same sound as the Jaguar XJR-15, mainly because it has the "growl" sound like the McLaren, mainly in the low RPMs. :indiff:

Also did you ever get any of the models for the cars Xenn?

Watching again the GT3 promo video...

One of the early demos must have a blue Viper inside it:

And could this be the "Test Drive" version of GT2?

I suspect so. 💡

I've mentioned the blue viper almost in GT2 in another thread actually.

It was also in the Gran Turismo 2 NTSC intro and on the back of the NTSC GT2 cover in a screenshot of the game.

I tried a gameshark cheat for the Pizza hut demo from a guy called "GamesharkWizard" on youtube to be able to choose different cars in the GT2 demo. Well, I used the Shelby Cobra Daytona Car Code and I got a different color than the one I've seen from Xenn.

Thats interesting, i am familar with who you are talking about.;) I do remember seeing him post codes to drive class A cars but i don't remember seeing the daytona code there. Can you post a link to it please?:)

You can actually drive more than A class cars as you can see here. If you looked in the description of Gamesharkwizard's video; there's the cheat to drive the other cars in.

I'll post the code now:

8019CA18 ????
8019CA1A ????

Basically, it's like the car codes in GT2, just enter in the body codes in where the question marks are at the moment. Of course, not every car code works. Just cars that have been rendered in the demo. I tried entering codes to drive the shelby gt350 & mitsubishi lancer evo. V rally car and the game crashed.

EDIT: a couple hours ago. I've tried the body codes of the Mercury Cougar '99 & 1969 Camaro Z28 and they worked. They both only had one color unfortunetely. Which is odd, I've seen in the replay on one of the demos of a blue Z28 Camaro, the one I drove was orange with light orange rally stripes.

He must have edited his description since i last looked. This is quite interesting, im not sure if remember seeing those cars in the demo when i used a code to enable home and guest garage. I need to look.

Here are the codes by the way to enable home and guest garage.;) It's obiously not like the final version were you can load cars from another memory card. It's full of a bunch of different cars (and some that are rather unfinished to) in the demo. I added a link to were i found it just so you know. ;) I thought you would find that interesting.;)

Enable Home Garage 2

Enable Guest Garage

They're not always the same. For example, the RUF cars don't have the same codes if I remember correctly. They have a different code in the demo.

Edit: The code SonyGamer posted is useful for using the cars that can be driven without any problems. Same with the guest garage code.

Awesome, thanks sony gamer, I've actually wanted to try this code my self. Can't wait to give it a go.

Wow, how very odd. Of course, the blue camaro was in my PS underground demo disc and not the Pizza Hut demo. I guess I would have to find the codes in that one to see if the camaro can be used.

EDIT:
WTF?! I just saw in the home garage a BLUE viper. I guess I should have saw that coming from the screenshots above. I didn't think it could actually be playable though with cheats.
Here's a screenshot I took of the Blue Viper

EDIT:
I still can't believe that this thread has been out for a long time and there's still hidden content being discovered in GT2.
As for the 2 different road going Daytona Cobras, PD should've kept those in GT2 and used those as prize cars for completing a certain race. The same for the 1996 Blue Viper GTS.

Another Beta GT2 Pic.

Oddly enough though, the course map doesn't change when I show another course; it's just the same Rome Circuit map. Probably due to the fact that Rome is the default race course in the Demo.

DUDE! Triple post!

Also, I find it interesting that Rome Circuit was originally entitled Roma on the selection screen, with the banner reading "Romanesque Raceway". I've never encountered that name before.

I forgot about that rule, why does that rule exist anyway?

BTW, I deleted the two post and moved the comments & images into my original post.

Actually Roger, there were a lot of name differences in the GT2 demo.

The tahiti courses were refered as "Tour di' Tahiti". Midfield was called "Parament" or something like that, Red Rock Valley was called "Sprint2" (I wonder what sprint 1 was); basically some courses had test name due to probably PD not coming up with an original track name yet or some other reason.

Yea i forgot to mention that blue viper.;) I find it shocking how it was never added to the final version. When you use those codes i posted, it brings up that rome map.;) I forgot to mention that. By the way another thing i should address is no matter what track you choose on that screen, it won't take you there at all.

Look on Xenn's cheat code page under the hybrid section of the GT2 forums. He extracted the files on his GT2 demo disc. I could take a picture of the parament part, but it still shows the default Rome map under it.

I also used MS paint and meshed a bunch of screenshots together.

ScreenshotGT2Mesh1_zps5dcf0a7b.png

Top Left: Suzuki Alto Works that I have never seen in GT2 before, I guess either I don't look through Suzuki enough in GT2 or PD left out another car which is alright.

Top Right: "IMPREZA '99 'PALLY' Edition". The constant typos in GT2 started way before it was released apparently. The Plymouth Muscle Car was actually called the Road Runner in the Beta too, which was the correct name of the car. Why change that?

Bottom Left: Parmanent/Beta Midfield in the course selection, still shows the Rome map like I said before.

Bottom Right: Is there a Black Mugen Prelude in GT2? I haven't played it in a while; so I don't remember.
