Searching For Evidence of Hidden Things

There hasn't been any new things about hidden GT2 stuff in a while. Although, I recently have been playing the Japanese version of Gran Turismo 2 and I've noticed that some of the cars (mostly japanese cars) have been modeled differently from the US version. I'm going to post some pictures on here soon to compare.

Well, in terms of cars; the selection in the Japanese Version is similar to the US Version, except maybe a few cars have slightly different models. The names though on mostly the Japanese cars are different.

Example; The 1998 Honda Civic Sedan

Japanese version:

US Version:

The names are probably changed in the US version since the Civic Ferio Si isn't in the US. The only Si I remember being sold in the US at the time was the EM1 Civic Coupe Si. The 1996 Honda Accord Sedan & Honda Prelude are also actually SiR models. The Nissan Skyline 280 Type MR was referred as the Nissan Prince Skyline 280 during gameplay. The game referred a lot of the japanese cars by their model/chassis codes.

The Used car lots are a bit different in terms of selection as well. I normally am able to get a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo. V GSR early in GT2 and use it as my 2nd or 3rd car, but it isn't availible that early in the Japanese GT2. I also had an easier start than usual, because I was able the buy the JZA70 Toyota Supra TwinTurbo R at the start of the game.

There are many region differences! Also, I remember TrdFan said that converting a save to Japanese version of GT2 glitches up the graphics and the names I think. He promised pictures, although we never got to see it :D

^Yes, but they're mostly small differences. Although, I'm going to try to show as many as I can find as possible.

Here's one, the prize car notification has different text in the JPN version.

It shows on ARCADE mode only. Not working, about the integras: They are glitches? Or copies of the PAL version? Please quote Xenn or RandomCarGuy17.

Integras? I never said anything about the integras. Unless you're talking about the integra pics I posted a few weeks back. Also, I actually might try to check out the drag racing glitch myself and see if it's real.

If it is, I'll post some footage or screenshots of it later on, how does that sound for you guys?

EDIT: I like how most of the text in the Japanese version of GT2 is in english. It's like it doesn't know what region it was meant for.

Its 90% chance, that this was posted long time ago:
When you are racing on Tahiti Road REVERSE, the map in left corner is in beta shape (not
nice looking).
AI cars have bad race line applied (hitting walls at out of corners)
The track itself has merchandising banners pointed in the wrong direction too.

As far as i can remember, the track is used only when Event Synthesizer decides to put it in championship.

RCG17, I can't see the pictures. :indiff: Oh, and you have a PSN message regarding the Impreza-190E deal. ;)

I know Tank, I'm sorry about it. I use a photobucket for my pictures and well, I've reached my bandwidth limit. The Pictures stay like that until the 18th. Try right clicking to copy the image URL and paste it in another tab.
If you can't do that, I'll just post a link to the pictures.

Here's the links.

After I see it...

1. Just some Engrish/bad punctuation stuff.
2. Just a regional name change... well, except that they didn't keep the Ferio text style in PAL version.

:)

Here's kind of an Easter egg that I found interesting.

If you have an original disc copy of GT2, you can scratch the design and it'll smell like burnt rubber and fuel.

Today, I'm going to upload some gameplay of the japanese GT2. I'll post a link here as soon as I do so.

EDIT:Here's the video. Enjoy I hope.

Hello guys, I'm new and I'm really interested at seeing your awesome jobs of finding secrets for one of my favourite games of all time: Gran Turismo 2

I wanna share with you 2 secrets that I found myself :):

1: Lancia Stratos Rally Car:

I found out that if you add in a Lancia Stratos the racing modification you will see that the name will change and will be labeled "Lancia Stratos Rally Car" (in the car selecion from the garage)

2: If you use the PAL version you can't add racing modifications in a MR-Spyder S-Edition unlike in the NTSC version

(I use NTSC version), also I hope my english is understandable

^Interesting finds.

Alright, I've recently found a page that showed a 'buy any car' cheat for the JPN version of GT2. I tried it using the NSX '93 racing mod as a test and it worked. Anyway, the NSX-R GT1 Turbo from the japanese version of GT1 is not present in the japanese version of GT2.

The TCRF people already know that, check their GT2 unused cars page. ;)

Hey Guys, I just saw a curious frame about the japanese intro video of GT2 (uploaded by RandomCarGuy17)
@ 1:58 you can clearly see the famous CLK Race Car cut in the final version

Here is a picture

Great Finds! I'm just astounded that we're still finding hidden/early content on this game. You guys should also check out the links for the lists of North City & West City cars. They list the racing mods as if they were going to be full-blown race cars and a couple other interesting things.

There is a Ruf CTR Racing listed in North City.

I saw some gamespot GT2 screenshots on gamefaqs. There's a Toyota Altezza being shown going around from what looks like an early version of Seattle.

I also noticed this screenshot through a seach in google images.
It looks like someone else on the internet has been using Gameshark on their GT2 demo or perhaps there's an early demo/beta that has all the menus playable.

Wow, really nice. The one that stood out the most to me was the Seattle course having such a vibrant and colorful look, as well as a totally different background. I guess that was a placeholder, huh?

It is Grand Valley's background, so yes, it is a placeholder. ;)
