If anyone can find evidence of this I would be really grateful:
In GT2 on Apricot Hill you could see a city in the distance.
In GT3 and GT4 it was replaced by more hills.
Does anyone have any proof of this?

In GT2, the city appears normally
In GT3, the city is now hills and the small village near the finish is now crowd stands.
BTW, I noticed something:
Laguna Seca 200 miles endurance image has less background stuff and is in dawn I think.
ePSXe2013-11-1720-06-41-58_zps2ab1bd24.png

Rome 2 hour endurance. Image looks better than it is in game.
ePSXe2013-11-1720-06-38-17_zpsb91ff449.png

SS Route 5 50 Laps. There are lens flares coming from lights. Also it is in reverse and you can see the skybox clearly.
ePSXe2013-11-1720-06-49-57_zpsb2ea64d9.png

Trial Mountain endurance. Again, there are lens flares from the sun. Also, track looks better than normal.
ePSXe2013-11-1720-06-45-92_zpscebe07f0.png

Grand Valley Endurance. Again there are lens flares, and I think that the corner shown here is not like this ingame.
ePSXe2013-11-1720-06-59-58_zps44f20464.png

Apricot Hill Endurance. The wheel arch totally looks different, and the background is filled with more trees. Also, the image is darker and looks like it is not Apricot Hill, and you can see the sponsors clearly. They say Formula and Pioneer I think.

All pictures are modified, and they look way better than ingame.

Bisharp, I wouldn't try to make something out of those pictures if I were you. PD probably took shots of his res versions of their tracks and did slight edits or something. I doubt that there's anymore secret courses in GT2 of these tracks.

Guys, keep in mind that around 2-4 users in this thread already hacked & extracted files from GT2 and found everything hidden in each of the discs. I doubt there's a possibility of there being any better quality tracks being hidden in the game. I'm not even sure PD actually planned anything like that for GT2 in the first place.

I like to believe those are actually rendered shots. Made to look like GT2 with more higher quality.

And yeah, there won't be much new content for a long while, not when there's no new demos out there yet.

Yes indeed. I used the GT2VOL extractor a while back and I have all the files from the .VOL file on my computer including tracks. ;)

I believe you when you say there are probably no more hidden tracks, however I was looking in the "crsmap" folder (which I believe is where the track files are stored) and I found one named "no_name_dirt.tim" as well some other ones I believe may also be one of these "no name" courses, not sure if they are ones that are used regularly in the game or not. I remember the demos having some "no name" courses, I wonder if this is one of them....

Oh no I didn't say there is a new map or something!
Then why were you pointing those things out? It just doesn't seem like it would lead to anything in terms of hidden content.

Hmm, no name dirt? That actually sounds like a hidden track I've seen in one of the GT2 demos. Maybe I should go back and check out the course myself if it's accessible. I haven't exactly explored all of the hidden tracks in GT2 yet, I've been too busy with Gran Turismo 6 and things I'm doing in real life.

So have I. Truthfully I am not entirely sure if that is the actual track file or if it is stored on a completely different folder, but I do wonder. @Xenn may know. There are a lot of unusual names in the "crsmap" folder, ones I am not sure have been discovered...

I wonder if @Markuza97's porting method works in GT2. ;)

No name dirt is one of the Tahiti dirt tracks. I assume PD forgot to rename it when finishing the game.

There's a few of them in there, but they're all used I believe.

I'm not sure if this has been there yet, but has anyone else noticed that there appears to be SEVEN Vipers in the preview picture of the Viper Festival of Speed manufacturer's event (there's clearly a red car with white stripes behind the white one with green stripes). Maybe on some early versions it was possible to get more than 6 cars on track?

Other curious thing is that some event screens have real life photos while others (like this one) have enhanced in-game shots.

I've noticed that for a while as well. Although, I figured that they used a beta version of Gran Turismo 2 for these screenshots as the GT2 demos all had the Blue Viper GTS.

So, I've decided to amplify Mr ZX's Viper image a bit using an emu:censored:, and I've also found an extra:

See the Viper #3? AFAIK, that Viper racing mod/color scheme doesn't exist in-game. Maybe it got dummied out? Never mind, corrected by RandomCarGuy below

BTW, Blue Viper!!! :P

BONUS EDIT: Also, notice how in the RUF description, it doesn't mention Porsche, instead replaces it with "a famous German sports car maker"...

...but in the FIAT description it mentions Maserati and Ferrari?:

Kinda dodgy on PD's part :P

Um, that color scheme does exist, it's the Viper GTS-R:

You can get it from winning the Apricot Hill Endurance (sometimes you'll get a lancia stratos though).

The Blue Viper though as I said before was hidden in the earlier demos of GT2. I even did a video showing it:

Notice it says Fiat owns Maserati and Ferrari; they are legally allowed to mention the company names as they have Fiat's licence, even if the Ferrai and Maserati companies themselves don't want their cars in the game.

I think they avoided saying Porsche due to the very strict partnership they had with EA at the time (well, even to this day). The fact BMW dealer doesn't mention anything to do with their M Division or have any of their cars is probably because of the same reason. Of course, EA has softened up a bit since then, and now they can at least mention Porsche's existence in the newer games.

Nice piece of legal advice. I guess they weren't afraid of mentioning a company as long as they had someone to back them up; in this case mentioning Maserati/Ferrari with Fiat's consent. Nice play on PD's part :sly:

Exactly; RUF doesn't have anything to do with Porsche other than buying the basic parts from them, and they are registered as their own company. So that's also why PD probably wanted to avoid saying Porsche. In GT6, they're a lot more 'open' about it. The little description for the RUF RGT flat out says 'a supercar based on the 996 Porsche 911 GT3' or something similar.

You know, that's got me thinking: can't Porsche/Mercedez/etc. sue PD for using cars that weren't given the right to be used in GT, even if said car is dummied out? The best example I can give is the 911 GT3 that appears in... well, GT3 :P, and a GT2 example would be the CLK DTM.

Has anyone else realized that there is a Team Oreca Viper In the picture for the Viper Challenge, yet the only opponents that ever appear are the GTS and Rt/10?
