o/t, but not worth a new thread...

was in Zandvoort to see the DTM race, and to my surprise, I saw something which looked like the Daihatsu Midget! Didnt weared the Daihatsu badges, but it looked alot like it. First time i've saw such a thing aswell. Was carrying the slick tires to the grid

Could someone tell me how to post pictures that are not from the internet. I have got one of the milk truck, not real of course. I just modified a picture using paint. Anyway, could someone please help!

You gotta save it as a jpeg or gif or something else GT Planet accepts. And then you click on the little icon with the mountain and the sun (it's yellow on my screen). This says insert image when you hover your pointer over it.

Well, I did get out of the habit of coming here for a while, but I have come back to the site.

Anyways, on topic.

Yeah, every cheat site has some false GT2 cheats. You can check any cheat site, any one at all, and you will come upon many false cheats. The "Buy 100 black cars and win a McLaren" cheat is everywhere, so is the "This is how you get to the secret drag strip" trick. One cheat site even said that you can get the GT90 by winning the final MR cup race (What you really get is a Gulf GT40) and one said that you can boost a Skyline over 1,000 Horsepower.

Yeah i know, i've read all that at one point or another. It's just ludicruss. dammit, how do you spell that word? :grumpy: Ludicrous. Ludacriss. Damn hip hop stars!

I was actually fooled into some of those. I actually tried the Mclaren cheat, and found out the hard way that it was BS.

Wow. The only foolish things i've done is lost several garages (at least 3) cuz i'm a machine-testing freak. I actually read alll the garage theif warnings early on at various websites, but got to thinking "ah...but that won't happen to me! :dunce:

I actually have one garage saved on a memory card (i have several GT2 memory cards ) in which i caught the theif just as he was about to strike. One more machine test and all the cars on that card woulda been lost :scared: Instead, you can look at the machine test board and see it's gone all haywire!

Mazda A-spec 666 and all that! I actually had my Mugen Accord get one of those ominous jumps in horsepower! :scared: I should eventually post a pic of that machine test....

Wow, good save! I read this experience on a FAQ, where this guy's copy of GT2 seemed to go haywire:

"great strategy/FAQ, I got GT2 for Christmas and have been kicking some butt at
for a while now. I beat the arcade disc and have about 30% on the sim. I have
about 13 cars my best being a racing mod. fully tuned Viper with 709
horsepower.
One day I load my game on the sim disc go to my garage and ill be damned if i
have no cars. I still have all my money 570,000 plus credits and in the lower
right corner where your current car is it has the R for racing mod. and "No
Name". What the hell! So I go to the car wash and my Viper which was originally
blue is now red so i go to the machine test and enter the max speed test to see
what happens. My Viper is blue again but when i rev the engine it sounds like a
bird chirping no crap! this really happened. The car blows off the line and i
get a top speed of like 242. I go back to the garage and my cars are all back
but where there are no cars it says no name no name i select my Viper and where
it tells you how much its worth it has a weird ass symbol and 8,765,000 so i
push sell and it says your car has been sold but my cash it at 0. So I think
its
all over so i get in my RMitsubishi 3000gt and enter the tuned turbo and win it
gives the 50,000 but no bonus car. Now every race that i win that is supposed
to
give me a bonus car doesnt I feel the other guys pain who had this problem and
hope it never happens to you."

Freaky, huh? He must have 1.0.

Yeah, sounds like it...although i hate to say it but some of my lost garages/weird glitches happened when i was using a "Greatest Hits" version of GT2; which is also known as version 1.2. So i say: do testing if you have to, but to be safe, never save after a test-run unless you don't care about possibly losing your garage.

After awhile, i actually bought a memory card specifically for testing. I don't have a racing career on that card, nor do i have an actual game on it...all i did was race around Red Rock a few times if i needed money. I'm in the habit of testing almost all the new cars i buy or win, see. I've done test after test on this card, saving after tests even. And of course i've never had any probs with this card! It's only the ones i had an actual game happening. :grumpy:

I had an experience like that, except I didn't lose anything. I had been doing a few top speed tests with a Jaguar XJ220 and when I went back to the menus, my car was a No Name. The odd thing is, I went straight into a race, and nothing odd happened-except for my XJ becoming a permament
No Name after that. Still perfectly drivable, though. I think I had version 1.2, if anyone's interested.

See? Those who think only 1.0 is liable to these odd glitches are only fooling themselves.

I also have version 1.2. I have not had a weird glitch like that. All I have had was the ocassional car stopping during an endurance race, and the gearbox suddenly going out on a Mustang I owned in the middle of a race. That is all. I though now want to test the top speed test, to see if anything freaky happens.

By the way, I had also been playing the game for several hours before this. I figured (with my then 10-year-old brain) that it had gotten too hot. If I remember right, it was around 50% completion.

Well keep looking at the leaderboard, then. Make sure if anything looks fishy or not. And look at your garage, too. (after 8 records are filled at Max Speed, keep testing--it may or may not happen). If something is going down, just reset the Playstation...don't save or things may just get worse.

I love screwing around with these random glitches in the game.
I believe that I am up to 5 different save files all with different variations of cars, and the what not. All of this in order to solve the problem of dissapearing garages, cause this has happened to me twice. Complete loss of every thing.

Well like i said; the best way to avoid this is to use a memory card that you don't care about if you want to do tests. But on your regular game card(s), you can test...just don't save after you test.

With 1:1 I meant it was a direct copy of Motorsport Land, I'm using PAL :)

Looks like the license test courses, especially the one where you have to drive the Peugeot 106 Rallye through a slalom course

Hey, I'm a Mark Martin fan, and it's always baffled me that I've read about his car's likeness being used for the Taurus race mod in GT2. I've never played a version of the game with the 6 likeness, can someone hook me up with a pic?

Also, people asked about Motor Toon Grand Prix a few pages back. I DISTINCTLY recall renting it when I was about 10 at a Hollywood Video in Cumming, Georgia (I may have rented it instead after I moved to Massachusetts, but I'm almost certain I played it in GA). What I remember was a FMA intro that featured an annoying pop song and CGI renders of the HIDEOUS characters that populated the game. If I remember correctly, there was some kid/teenager who flew a plane, a bitchy princess who was caught taking a shower in the intro, and a robot character that drove a truck of sorts. There were other characters, I think there was a train and some sort of fancy black car (different from the one on the game cover I think, the criver looked a little like Dick Dastardly from Wacky Races I think). The vehicles behaved really cartoonishly; they'd kinda bend to the side when you made turns (vehicle would remain flat on the track, but the top of the car would "lean" to the inside). I was little and I didn't understand how to play a racing game, but in retrospect, I recall experiencing a great deal of understeer, probably because I never took my foot off the gas pedal (X button).
For anyone who wants to play the game, I'd advise against paying a pretty penny. It's a neat "history lesson", but it's really an over-thought kids game (too much emphasis on physics and not enough on what matters to tykes; characters and scenery). It's not ugly, but I did not like the style at all.

Wow, that's a very cool description!! I wanna see the princess character!

I was actually shocked just now--went surfing to find a pic of Mark Martin's Taurus but couldn't find any. :( PLenty of GT2 websites mention it, though. :(

You can get the Mark Martin likeness in any GT2 game. Just race modify a Taurus, and if you have a later version of the game, even though the sim mode race modification is generic, in arcade mode, it will still come up as Mark Martin.

I think that's only in the North American version. In the PAL version, the race-mod is generic in both modes.

In early versions of the North American game the Mark Martin paint job is shown in Simulation Mode, too.

Took the pics of Taurus:

Shame its FF :(

Trying to find a way to get out of some tracks:

Apricot Hill Speedway. I was somehow able to drive in the air but suddenly lost control and the car did fall down on the road.

It's a review. It shows her in all her ugly glory.

And my U.S. copy of GT was purchased about March/February 2000, all I remember was a generic Taurus. It's so great to know he made it into a Gran Turismo; he almost won the Daytona 500 this year driving for a different team (and a Chevy at that) for the first time in 19 years.

I just read through the thread and saw the Motorsports Land thingy, where when you drive North off the track, you see a copy of MSL... I tried it on GT2, and i saw it. You can only see it on certain angles though

WOAH. I just found something. YOU MUST SEE THIS. I think i just made a new discovery

Go to Laguna, and exit the track, with a really fast car (So you can get to the place quickly). Then go to the top right of the screen, your car will dissapear. Then you'll see HEAPS of duplicates of Laguna....

Ask me how to do this if you want more accurate instructions :)
