You went through the entire early demo roster? That's awesome! 👍

If you are interested, I can give you a list of all Altezza placeholders in the mid and late demos, so you know what to avoid when going through them.

I went through the entire early demo build, but not through the whole TD demo. Going through 42xx files one by one and add 16 bytes of zeros to each... fine, but compressing one by one after all that? I'll die xD

I'm interested in he placeholder list though. It'll help me a lot in reducing the time it'll take :)

I plan on going through all 4 main builds that I have, so any shortening will help ^^

I mentioned to Leo to include an export feature with the new track viewer as well as support for the demos and he replied to me, so hopefully it will come soon! :D
Alright, so I've taken the time to translate some demo cars to view on GT2 Car Viewer.
Here's the links:

This one had a limited amount of cars (it has ~1/4 the amount of car files the final game has) since it's an early demo. I was crazy enough to go through them all. I only left out some placeholders (there were less than 10 overall, which is good tbh)
http://www.mediafire.com/file/z9q121oki5cvxqg/GT2_Official_U.S._PSM_Demo_Disc_27_(USA)_MODELS.7z

This is of the cars that were featured on @SuperFrizzio 's beta cars video, taken from the Test Drive demo.
http://www.mediafire.com/file/s4cbnnafg0nz45a/GT2_Test_Drive_DEMO_MODELS.7z

I'll look through other demos later.
Thanks for sharing! This saves me a ton of trouble!

While going through the PSM demo folder, I found what appears to be another kind of course bg:

Interesting! 💡

Models indicated by an asterisk (*) use their own road version body as a placeholder.

I've converted the whole medium build GT2 demo (from GT2 Official U.S. PSM Demo Disc 46 (USA))
You can view them on GT2 car viewer, and I think they should work if you replace GT2 models directly, if you want to make a mod.

[Medium Build]
http://www.mediafire.com/file/wsqq81jd4lj7foe/GT2_Official_U.S._PSM_Demo_Disc_46_(USA)_MODELS.7z

Edit: @MMRivit I used the list of placeholders you gave me for this one, however I just started to go through a late build (Test Drive demo) and I already see 2 mistakes right off the start (because they're part of cars I extracted before I started going through the demos):
a222n RX-7 FB
a28sr RX7 '98 RS RM

Both are listed as placeholders in your list, but they are present on that demo. So either the demo is an even later build, or your list is wrong ^^'

Anyway, because of that i'm gonna have to check the cars I've skipped using your list for the OPSM Demo 46 medium build so that I'm sure I haven't missed anything.

For now i'm gonna go through the Test Drive demo in full and i'll come back to the medium demo after.

EDIT2: maybe the list isn't wrong after all... weird. Whatever, i'm still going through it all x)
EDIT3 (I will stop making these edits, I swear): Well there are still some mistakes. bistr (Lister Storm RM) is present in the build, not a placeholder.

EDIT4: Alright, here's the updated, full car list of the GT2 Test Drive demo. It's the same link as previously, I just updated the file.
[Late Build]
http://www.mediafire.com/file/s4cbnnafg0nz45a/GT2_Test_Drive_DEMO_MODELS.7z

I'm adding the Early build demo file that I posted previously here too so that you all can find everything on one post instead of having to look everywhere.

Just for clarification, the Late Demo list is based on the build found in Euro Demo 53, which is one week earlier than the Test Drive build. Some model files were added and many others updated to show the actual models of the cars in this time frame, so the list should be accurate for the third build (Late) but not the fourth (Test Drive). The Mid Demo list is based on the PlayStation Underground Jampack - Winter '99 build.

Still a great job man. 👍

I wish there was a way to view sim mode menus, I did manage to get something with texturefinder on iconimg.dat and gtmenu.dat but its rough....... ugh

And I found out just by curiosity and tried the gt2 beta demo menu sounds and race sounds, they work in the final NTSC/U v1.2 sim mode. But its really funny cause they don't match up....... like the race sound file from gt2 jdm test drive in the final results in boost sound when driving on red/white curbs...... LMAO! its really fun.

And a spoiler for the race sound file, I figured out how to make the test drive file work proper... so we can have mega blowoff valve and all the other normal sounds correctly. Instead of the goofy sounds.

(I figured out how to hex edit them and mod them):P:D

Hey @BisharpVercetti, funny enough you mentioned that. I figured out a way to view the track textures amd skybox textures as .tim files........

Oh heysubmaniac93, how did you do the car engine/exhaust sound mods, i.e. the list of what is what because in my folder its all numbered and not listed like the car bodies. Please can you send me a list of what sounds are for what car...... (and if you're interested I have extracted car sounds from test drive 5 if you want to play around with them. I can convert them to gt2 .es format before I send them to you or you can have the raws, either or is fine if you want them. My purpose for them was to experiment with totally changing some of the car sounds all together.)

@B_rad88!

Here's what I have gathered in written form. I do not have a definitive way of knowing exactly what affect which car, but I found those by ear :P
TD5 I'm not too interested, although I'd like to know how you can convert sounds to .es! I couldn't find anything that allowed that so i'm very interested. Because I have managed to extract the .es files a long time ago somehow (which is how I got this list together, by listening to the .wav files that are in the .es and comparing to the game's cars).

@B_rad88!

WOW, thank you! That's a huge help! Ok, so the 00000.es is the main engine sound and the 0_n0.es is n/a exhuast upgrade and 0_t0.es is turbo exhuast upgrade?

And reason i asked about td5 is to take your sound mod project a step farther. Td5 has a viper engine sound (viper.vag so far this file is what I have converted and want to try to use) and another reason I mention td5 is cause the cuda in gt2 uses the camaro sound where as td5 had a cuda/mopar sound.

And I used a PS2 sound program (I can send you a copy as its free) to convert it from a raw .vag to a raw .es, even can convert it to .wav, .ect.

Edit also PSound also views the .es, .ins, .ect from gt2, just can't mod them threw psound.

Yup exactly.

I use PSound and that's probably how I extracted the files from the .es. I'm interested in your program though, could you send me a link to get it? :P

Vanishing Point also has decent engine sounds, but yeah If I can mod the .es files, i'm gonna do some amazing things with those (hopefully) :P

The first thing that came to my mind was that GTO Twin Turbo hybrid (from your "Hybrids of mine" video) with the engine sounds from GT1. Have we tried extracting those with PSound?

Hehe, unfortunately, at the time of that video, we couldn't even extract files from GT2. that's just the stock exhaust with the '98 GTO engine.

It is possible to extract sounds from GT1 with PSound into .wav (see my Driver 1 sound mods -super old- videos, at the time, that's why I had extracted those) , so if there is a way to compress them into .es files, I think we might be able to port them over to GT2. And I'd be really happy with that. As unrealistic as GT1 sounds were, I'd like to have them back in GT2 :)

Cool thank you. And obviously the 0-3 is each stage of exhaust 0 being stock and 3 being race right? Its a good thing I didn't assume they where in order to the carobj list...... lol that would have been a funny.

my 1st attempt at the "hot tahitian night" skybox

Edit again (june 7th): GT2K car engine files work in gt2 final, and I also figured out how to port gt1 engine sounds to gt2!!!!!

EDIT: I just shared acouple of GT2000 videos

So, I wasn't sure of where to ask this, but is it possible to save edit your GT2 save if it's saved on the Virtual Memory Card on a PS3? I was wondering because it would be sweet to add the finished cars that were removed from the final game like the CLK-DTM and Polo. 👍

I may be missing the point entirely, but if you already have a save on your PS3, you can upload it to a USB, edit the save (presumably on PC), then just USB it back onto the PS3. That memory card reader is only required if your main save is on a memory card and you want to put it on your PS3 (or vice versa).

I finally found a video screen recorder that works on my ancient win xp desktop. Its so old it doesn't know what a mp4 is!!!!!! Look forward to a video of a few of my projects coming soon! The billboards, the tahiti grass track mod, the mobil 1 nsx delete and swapped with the nsx-r lm gt2, ect. And also if anyone would like a copy of any of my work...... I can send a link to my mega upon request!

Thanks,
Brandon "B_Rad88"

Correct. I was able to get it onto a USB stick and onto my computer. Problem is, I haven't a clue of where or what to swap to get the hidden cars in my garage. I managed to find a save file that @Tornado uploaded a while ago, and got my hands on the GT500KR, CLK Race Car, and Polo via the ingame Data Transfer method (buying the cars from Card 2 to put on my Card 1 save), but I would also love to get the License Cars, the Smiley Face, Trophy, and especially COURSE BG. Is there a PSV file I could download somewhere that has those cars on it, because so far I can only find GME files that contain those vehicles. Also I am aware of GME-to-PSV conversions, however I lack a CFW PSP for the job.

Been meaning to reply to this for a while now. The PS3's Virtual Memory Card only supports files in .VMP (The PSP's save format for PS1 games) and .PSV format, it won't accept most other common save formats. The key to getting save games from different formats to the PS3 is to transfer it to a memory card and then use the memory card adapter tankuroded and karelpipa mentioned to copy it to the PS3. It will convert whatever save is on the memory card to .PSV format. How do I know all this? I have done it before and I am speaking from experience. I happen to have this memory card adapter myself.

Here is the thing about .PSV files, I believe they have a digital signature that no one knows but Sony and that is why their are no converters out there that can do this. The memory card adapter and a CFW PSP are only the only precise ways to get saves converted to PSV format.

Assuming you're looking to "run the game on PC" to hack it, last I remember, .PSV files aren't supported by them and thus they have to be converted to do so. The file has to be in either VMP (PSP format) or .PSV format if you expect to get it onto the PS3 though.

That memory card reader is only required if your main save is on a memory card and you want to put it on your PS3 (or vice versa).
Which is necessary if you expect to get it onto the PS3, unless you have CFW PSP.

I don't think so, but if you have a save game with these cars, I can convert it for you since I have the memory card adapter. You can then buy the cars from that save using the data transfer and add them to your garage.

Best bet to get all the cars in a disc(usa disc has hidden japan cars, ect.) is to go with gs codes. Use the toyota dealership swap codes with the car you want and buy it. It works for me.

Some of the hidden cars codes:

Complete car list (with toyota new car lot swap codes):

I also got parts codes for hybrids!

Edit: mod video is in the works! And a picture update: deleted the mobil 1 nsx gt race car and replaced with the nsx-r lm gt2 race car!

Edit:

@Overload_35 hey bro, I'll like to send you pm, but it won't let me. I know you said you retired, but I have a question for you!

Edit again: TOP SECRET! I need regional testers! Who would like to volunteer?
