Who said something about maxing your car out? Right, no one!
It's up to YOU!
You can decide whether to tune your car to the maximum or just to install a few parts.
For example, I just installed a Titan Exhaust and the best Motortuning in the Lotus Challenge. I got the 1st place for the first time at the half of the last lap. So it was quite a funny race.
Or just try to do it with a standard car, if you can't keep up start to install one or two upgrades and test it again. See this as a challenge to improve yourself.

Judging by the comments on here so far, slightly disappointing that the latest seasonal events appear to be easier, but as has been suggested already, maybe PD are testing to see what the punters prefer...

I golded all the events bar the Nascar (very little experience with Nascars and do not know Nurburgring circuit at all) and thoroughly enjoyed the challenge in doing so...

Methinks I'll go stock on these ones and I'm not going to complain about getting extra XP/Credits :sly:

You guys relise that all these seasonal events would have been pre-done in the last patch and scheduled to pop up at certain dates right?

So theres no way they would have done changes based on peoples opinions on them. They would have put a bunch of the events in the last patch and set them to become available at a certain date, each one is obviously set to be different. They most likely would have gone over this before putting them in the patch and figured they would do some that were tough and some that wern't so tough to please everyone. Some people wanted a challenge, they got that in Seasonal Events #1 and Seasonal Events #2, others wanted a quicker way to get XP and Creds, they get that in Seasonal Event #3 and probally Seasonal Event #4.

Don't agree with this, as you can only race them when connected to psn, so they (pd) must have some sort of control over them.

P.s. Use capital letters in appropriate places!

I don't get this "I don't have time or I'm not willing to earn anything so make it super easy for me" mentality. If you don't have time you should not get gold period. Gold prize is something you need to earn. Not be given.

Well done on managing to ignore my comment about mixing up the difficulty of the seasonal events. I've no problem with some events being very difficult, but they also need to cater for the casual gamer which they are doing with this latest round of events.

If the casual gamers get bored and buy a different racing game in future then the series would die.

So to reiterate yes make some events difficult but make others easier, something PD appear to be doing rather well.

That is incredibly wrong. They would have put the framework in place so seasonal events can be accessed by the end user and they can create new events on a whim if they so desire.

It wouldn't even require anything more difficult than an xml file to do.

You quoted me before i could fix it lol

Theres no way they can change stuff in game like that, they added everything with the last patch, the fact it was HUGE makes it all the more likely.

They wouldn't be sitting around in there offices waiting around to release new seasonal events each week, and if they DID do it like this there would be updates.

Whiners everywhere. You want challenges, level up online only.

Anyhow it is kinda cool the PD are putting this amount effort into renewing the game on a montly (ish) basis, it reminds me of the PC sims that I used to play years ago. Now all we need is a modding community to be able to build tracks and cars from scratch,

Sorry about the whiners comment but these forums are awesome once you wade through the complaints (opinions?) and I will continue to lurk.

Ok that makes sense, so your saying they would have put all this stuff in to have the ability to do this in the last patch, So they can then add stuff to the Seasonal Events menu whenever they like via the Network?

never mind you've seen my previous post.

Essentially yeah. They'll have programmed in the ability for the game to display seasonal events and to read from a networked location to get the latest events. It's a fairly simple process in .net (what I program in).

Easy to test as well, assuming my game didn't update last night when I turned it on, if I turn my ps3 on today when I get home without the network being connected then I wouldn't expect to see the newest events. If they were there however it would prove you right.

the seasonal races ain't actual data you download from the patch, it is accessed when you link to the server and works like a livefeed sort of way, they can change that whenever they like remotely.

I can't say for certain, but that is almost certainly wrong.

The patch would have enabled GT to be able to interface with the seasonal events which are created on the server (which is why you need to be online to access them). So the events were never in the patch, the patch just made it possible for the GT interface to display events held on the server. This means any number of future events can be created and existing events can be tweaked at any time.

Seems like the first 2 events were too hard for casual players... I mean Pd has done it right, you think 30.000 hardcore fans are more important then 4.000.000 casual gamers? They try to satisfy both groups... If you want an challenge dont tune your car, whats the problem?

I have just had my first go; stock cars plus Sports Soft tyres, aids off except TCS and ABS at 1.

Prius, Elise and Citroen - all easy wins. For a challenge do not spec up the tyres, I will try again later with stock tyres.
Audi and Ford GT - no good, I will need to tune up but I will take it easy on upgrades and spec up only as I need to.

Well I for one really enjoyed these races apart from the fact that I now have two Lotus 111R's as I had already RMed the first one... ah well you can never have too many cool British sports cars :)

Oh and I can say that the seasonal events are definatley accessed via a remote server, because on one or two occasions I have gone to the events and it has said that it can not find any events... then I back out and go in again and there they are.

the problem is that this game should be about racing but for people now it's all about xp and money. Something went wrong.

Because the prize cars suck and cars have stupid cost like 14 million for a chapparal 2j.

If three were no levels, more sellable cars and cheaper to buy cars then maybe it wouldn't all be about grinding?

I found that an LSD set to 10/40/30 helps the Elise big time, at least in my case with all driving aids off, including the ABS (brake balance set to 5/2).

if you wanna make the even hard, use comfort hard tires and no tuning at all, just plain stock, also don't adjust any settings, just buy a car and race.

I do love the 'eliteism' that prevails on this board, the belief that every challenge has to be uber difficult and only winnable by those with 'l33t' skills. It's a game, it has to be easy now & then and the thing is you who are complaining they took the restrictions off, nobody is forcing you to full upgrade your cars to do the races are they? Just take out stock cars and only add something if you need to, that way you can preserve your halo's and have the moral high ground over everybody else.

As far as the 'No Assists' players' claim that any use of assists is what separates the 'real' drivers from the hacks, regardless of how widespread that belief might be, the argument that no assists defines of 'real driving' holds water like a colander. (or tennis racket, if you prefer that imagery).

Do 'no assists' players keep going if they run into something ? e.g. a wall or barrier of any kind. If they are claiming to be the only 'real drivers', they should consider a race over as soon as they make contact with any fixed object on the track. In the genuine real world, hitting something would be the end of the car. That includes all but the most minimal contact with other cars - and even that much would be too much for many cars.

Is 'no assists' the only criteria for someone to claim that they are The Real Deal ?

Do they pit - even though a particular race doesn't require it - in order to simulate stops that would be needed for tires and fuel ? Or do we apply 'temporary suspension of disbelief' on that ?

That's just for starters. 'No assists' is just an arbitrary distinction. For whatever reason(s), it has caught on and is now the standard that must be met in order to be a Star-Bellied Sneetch. It doesn't impress me as a measure to determine who is playing the game in a manner that more closely resembles 'real driving'.
