It only has 370PP because it weighs less than a crisp packet. Power to weight ratios are meaningless if you don't actually have any power.

Okay so even when fully tuned it only makes 62HP and 74ft-lbs of torque, but hey it only weighs 455kg so that should still be plenty of power right?

Okay so there are guys with riding lawnmowers out there laughing at me right now...hey wonder if I could fit it with a power off for a blade and catch bag...landscaping anyone?

The PP is a lie!

Okay because I'm crazy and all that I decided to see exactly how much you could get out of the 2CV

Your not alone fellow 2CV enthusiast! :D

My Crazy 2CV is high miles (246,xxx miles) so its losing power. It only 367pp and 57-58hp maxed out... but can still achieve 9th place with a 2:13.315 best lap and a draft top speed of 97mph

Use 4th gear on turns 1, 7, and 9 to maintain just a but more speed through the corners. The 2CV will thank you by allowing you to go 1-4mph faster through the bends this way. :dopey:

Edit: I have a few one only has 36k miles. Time to get building :)

You'd be surprised what 20HP will do, if the vehicle is light enough. ;)

I know I'm still surprised at what 100HP will do, every time I get on. :D

Updated the tuners list, and linked all the posted tunes. If I missed anything please let me know.

Testers can start testing any cars that are done and posted (with 17 tuners thus far it might not hurt to get an early start  )

Results are your total time in the seasonal event. Just a reminder :dopey:

Time to get testing. :D

Well I've moved on to the Life Step Micro Van.:D

Now this is fun gotten a 4th place finish so far but think with good drafting and clean lines a 3rd is possible, maybe even higher if the DC5 doesn't show up to Jackrabbit and take the next couple along with it for a good stretch of the race.

Had to add 1kg of ballast though to keep it at 380PP or else switch air filters and lose power which it can't afford. Oh and for all those who say torque isn't important this is a perfect example of why it is. Only has 47ft-lb and you can watch it losing speed all the way up the loop. I enter at 90mph+ and hit the crest at around 78-79mph if I don't catch a draft. On the flat its fine and will hit at least 93mph without a draft just don't give it a hill to go up.

Yeah 20bhp go-karts are pretty quick, but a 2CV isn't that light. :P

One question about this, obviously the grid will change every time you enter the race with each car, which will give certain cars an advantage. Should we restart the game between tests so every car is tested with the same grid?

The PP is a lie!

Okay because I'm crazy and all that I decided to see exactly how much you could get out of the 2CV...well according to PD a maxed out one has 376PP which would lead you to think it might stand a chance of at least having a good finish if not winning the Cape Ring race. Well think again getting a couple lucky drafts I managed to post a best lap of 2:14.303 and a ninth place finish. Thanks to the PDA its enough money to pay for this folly but unless you enjoy watching paint dry forget it.

With good gearing and hitting the turn onto the front straight just right you might just hit 90mph before lightly brushing the brakes for turn one. I say lightly brushing the brakes because due to its weight even with the brake balance turned way down the car shrubs off speed faster than a popsicle disappears in hell.:lol:

Dang 2:14!!! I was 12 seconds faster in a Prius and I was first in the cape ring periphery race and it was 358pp

I don't see it giving some cars that big an advantage, and resetting will take up alot of time just to get the same line up. But I guess we should see what everyone thinks about it.

Should we run all cars with the same starting grid, or just race the grid you start with?

Well it took a few attempts but my low miles 2CV with its better engine stats of 61hp, 73ft-lbs, and 374pp managed 6th place.
Best lap of 2:11.316 and a total time of 11:03.068.

That poor Celica was passed on lap 4 and gained position on the straight only to be passed again on lap 5!

Think I am finished running the 2CV at the Periphery. :dopey::dunce:

Yeah obviously the faster cars will be faster no matter what, but say you have 2 of the same car to test, the one with the better tune may actually end up with a slower time because the other tune had better drafting opportunities because the cars it was up against were faster.

I don't mind either way, I'm just dropping my £0.02. :D

Hate to say it since it makes things harder for the testers, but the same car on poll for all tests should be mandatory. The AI field and where you catch them/can draft them can make a huge difference in both lap times and total race time. I'd suggest looking for the Integra R (DC5) on poll since it tends to stretch the field out more offering more opportunities for drafting and better passing conditions. Can be a real pain with slower fields of cars getting clean quick passes as, at least in my experience, your liable to catch clumps of two or three cars all "fighting" for position and running double wide into corners just when I catch them and am trying to pass.

We should always use the 1st grid, the one that appears when we open the race right after we turn the PS3 and put GT5 on. My opinion.

Meh.

I've already started testing and recording times. I'm running each car at least 3 times (unless I really like how it handles and want to run it more) recording best lap and overall race time. If you guys decide to go with restarting the ps3 each race you can remove me as a tester. That's my vote.

I am confused, I thought it was your combined time from testing on the practice course from each tester.

As V said, no two cars are gonna encounter the same things in each race.

I understand some peoples concern on starting each race with the same grid, but for ease of the testers, all races will be run with what ever grid you are given. If any tester wants to test with the same grid, feel free, and I  to you for doing so. Sorry if this upsets anyone, but it is just a quick shootout and it needs to move along fast. Thanks. :dopey:

Nope, were are running the recent seasonal, total time for the race. Just a fast moving mini-shootout for some fun. Nothing to serious. Sorry if anyone misunderstood :scared:

Just ran my fastest solo lap in a shoe with an air filter. My theory for what is going to be fast here has gone out the window. :banghead:

@GeeBaby
Thanks now I can cross Al's Nirvana off my list of possible entries!

Looks like the Hyundai's are destined to always be contenders for me and never the weapon of choice.

Oh well I think a spur of the moment test of a dusty relic that was lurking in the depths of my garage will turn out to be my entry anyways. Funny how a simple whim to try out just one more car even if it doesn't look like it has what it takes can lead to a real surprise performer that just needs to have its rougher edges smoothed off.

I did 1.54... with the Alfa Twin Spark 02( Standard), The FTO GR ( Standard) and the Suzuki Swift Sport 05 ( Premium).

I just chose the turbulence because it seemed the unusual car to me with the weight.

Well it was my fastest car by about .1xx until I found this car, but that was just a rough test tune. Did notice it seemed very smooth and composed around the track, but while it was burning nice laps it didn't seem to have the acceleration and top end of the other two cars I'm playing with at the moment.
Pretty sure my latest one will be a beast if I can ever get it handling the way I want. Keep hitting low 56s with it despite having bad mess ups that cost me considerable time. It's definitely the fastest car in a straight line I've tested despite having one of the worst power to weight ratios of the lot.:odd:
