Sebastien Vettel challenge: all gold

Starting to hate the Nurburgring GP track, best time is 2:10:108 so far, can't seem to get better than that. :indiff: No idea where I can still gain 2,1 seconds.

Got gold on Monza, still bronze on Suzuka as well. Didn't try to gold Suzuka yet seeing as I had most trouble with it getting bronze as well..

today I finally golded Nurburgring, heres my replay video.

My first time posting a youtube video what a mission but i finally figured it out :D.

I just got all bronze with the ds3. Took me a while and its the only time i have yelled out f@@k yesssssss in the game so far lol.

Golded all three tracks today, abs=1, sr=on, tcs=off, asm=off ... wasn't that hard but you have to forgot normal driving techniques.

Even with a wheel, this challenge is one of the most frustrating challenges ever in a Gran turismo game. But I did manage to beat the challenge with Bronze on all 3 tracks with a DS3 controller, with me picking up a silver on Monza later on

I am using a DFGT wheel and I am trying to silver/gold Nurburgring, but the "Veedol" chicane near the end is responsible for most of my DQs,

Managed to get all gold today. If I was honest the Nurburgring wasn't too bad and managed to get gold within 20mins. The most difficult was Suzuka because it was hard keeping it all together on the 2nd lap.

I did manage a nice time on the Nurburgring challenge with my outlap being a 1.03:700 and my 2nd lap a 1.03:400.

Here is a pic of my reward.

I will say this though I watched some youtube videos and they aren't always a good guide. Some people were using the wrong gears on some turns and this was especially true on the Nurburgring challenge.

Just watched the video above and I did it completely different around Nurburgring. I did drop to 1st gear on the 1st/2nd turn but didn't use 1st gear anywhere else except the last chicane. So in my opinion its better to stay in 2nd gear for the other turns and this is especially true for the last turn. Very easy to take these bends in 2nd gear without any need of 1st gear and you do get a better drive out.

I shall try and put together a video of my replay. I tried all different combination of gears and in my opinion my way is better. As you will see my outlap was a 1.03:700!!

The only thing is the quality of the video might not be excellent but you can see what lines I take and which gears to use.

All bronze with DS3! :D
Finished it 30 mins before my friends came round, so we could all race it :).

Gold videos are impressive, wish i could be as good as that!

I said to my mates don't even attempt gold without a wheel. They are planning on bringing round their PS3s to my flat so I can do it for them!

Fair play to getting bronze without a wheel though. Doubt I could do that to be honest and its only recently I started using a wheel.

Thanks in advance! :D Already watched a few other vids from other players but as you said in the other post, some of them are using the 1st gear way too often for my liking. I think my lines are right though, I just can't take certain corners fast enough, especially the last chicane.

That last chicane drove me mad at first. My problem intially was that I was trying to cut it too early resulting in my car flying in the air and losing control. Instead I stayed as far to the right approaching it and braked later and then took the chicane much cleaner but this gave me a much better drive out. I was wondering if I was going to damage my wheel though because I was seriously swinging my wheel to the left to quickly get it around.

Thats the trick with this car you can fling it about more than you realise. All normal driving techniques go out of the window when driving this insane car!

I'm level 25 and i traded an fgt for the red bull x2010, kinda fell like crap because you people seemed to have worked really hard for it, plus I don't think I would have been able to beat this challenge

Hardly matters gold or not considering how easy it is to dupe now....last game saw 7 black x1s totaly lost value and guess what bunch lvl 20s were driving them.

Nürburgring took me over six hours. Monza and Suzuka was done in about an hour. Am I the only one that had the most problem with Nürburgring? Yes, veeery shaky on the last chicane on Suzuka but that was probably because I had the other two golded already and thought "don't screw up" fifteen times a second.

If it was the more common Bronze Version, the Vettel X2010, who cares. You get it when your B-Spec level is 35, which isn't hard.

You are def not the only one, I thought nurb was much harder as well. IMO, whichever of the 2, Nurb or Sukuza, you do 1st is going to be harder. Just cause you have to learn how the X1 handles, which is not exactly an easy task.

Just got 2:08:075 on Nurburgring. :ouch: Really pushed that thing to the limit there, will be hard to do it again. Really thought I had it there!

Edit: 2:08:008 now... getting pretty frustrated here.

Edit #2: 2:07:917!!!! FINALLY! :D Now I just still need Suzuka..

I won't even bother going for silver, except maybe on monza - for the xp and credits not for another x1. Wish I had someone I could get to gold it for me, but I have one guy with a wheel and I doubt he's any better than me with a DS3!

Cheers for the compliment. you probably could, but we can't tell anyway. It did take me ~16 hours (1 monza sat eve, 5hr nurburg sun, 9h failed on suzuka then 3h tues morning!)

PS: Nice vid!

Ahh this X1 challenge is killing me.. I'm 0.525 seconds away from gold on Nürburgring.. Best lap being 1:04:107.. Monza was easy to get gold. Haven't tried Suzuka yet. Wish I could upload my replay so you guys could say what I'm doing wrong..

You unlock it on lvl 30 ?

Guys, why do you waste your time doing indy 500 and being bored ? Just do the dream cars challenge it gives good XP and its less boring with weather change and good races. Try different cars and stuff like that. I dont understand why you guys "have to" grind... Its a choice. You can do any event you like and try different cars and it may be a LITTLE BIT longer but its much more fun and you get A LOT better at the game then doing that long and boring indy ring.

think about it....

and with the x2010 at the dreamcar challenge you'll be getting about a million credits with less than an hours work. and if you can do with 900,000 something you'll be spending all of 40 minutes.

Well I'm completely a loss here. Frustration is kicking in. Just trying to see where I'm slower and it's really annoying. Am now 2:09.744 on Nurenburg and don't know whether to leave it for another day or carry on. Have took approx 3 secs off from my Bronze time but have hit a wall now :grumpy: im pretty sure I might be able to get gold but I'm starting to doubt myself now :guilty:

I'm feeling the same way.. 0.5 seconds from gold is tearing me, as I don't know where to cut this extra time from.. I'll probably have to settle for silver for now.. :ouch: Suzuka to go, then.

when you say two minutes around "the ring", which course of the ring do you mean? i'll **** myself if it's the northcourse

It's the Formula 1 circuit. GP/F if I remember right. The one that is 5.148 km long and has 16 turns.

Just unlocked this today. Have only tried the Nurburgring challenge.

Took me almost 30 minutes to even complete 2 laps without DQing and I was 8 seconds from bronze....:scared:

I know the feeling. Also unlocked it today and spent about an hour on monza and only managed a handful of complete runs. Best time was still 2 seconds off bronze. I am averaging a 1.08 in first lap and using a DS3 with the analogue sticks as accelerator/brake TCS and ABS at level 1.

Does anyone have any tips for completing challenge using a controller and is bronze realistically the best I can hope for without investing in a wheel?

Think I may just walk away from this challenge for a day or so. Having achieved gold on all special/licence/race events surely I night be able to Gold Nurenburg and Suzuka. perhaps a break and fresh approach is needed.
