Sebastien Vettel challenge: all gold

Maybe i'm an old cynic but I wouldn't take this car too seriously if I was you...I know the trailer for it and build up and such made it seem a very serious proposition but do you really think such a vehicle is possible? Take away certain FIA regs for say F1, there is no way you would end up with anything like the X1. Also unless we find some new kind of compound on a meteor or something there is no way a car could put down that kind of power without the tyres ripping to shreds

There's a reason F1 cars have evolved the way they have and they ultimately aren't all *that* restricted.

You're right about the tyres yeah but for the rest I think it could actually handle like that in real life as well. It's just that no one would be able to endure all those G-forces and you'd have to be crazy to actually go full speed in it. Just one small mistake and you'll have a huge crash. :P The X2010 is pretty much the same as the Chaparral 2J, just faster, better modeled and with all the new technology. I really think it would be possible.

Also F1 cars are getting restricted that much because of safety issues. That's also the reason why fan cars aren't allowed. The 2J's fan was throwing stones from underneath the car to the back so you wouldn't want to drive behind it. :P

Might be good fun, but it's got nothing do with driving

Good luck at Suzi Maz*uck, with you're usual dedication and application I know you'll do it 👍

ps; update your sig already... G25?

Trust me it's getting to the point where I'm considering the use of ASM, TCS, SRF, Active Steering, Sixaxis, divine intervention.....bloody laptime is there just putting two of them together. It's like WRS on crack...

Sig updated

All the best
Maz

These challenges are amazing! I took bronze for now just to play with the X1 but I will be getting the prototype :) It doesn't help that GT5 is the first time I am racing on the Nurburgring GP track and that I hate it  Monza should be easy if I can keep myself from dipping a tire in dirt or crashing. Suzuka ... well practice will make perfect and it helps that Suzuka is my favorite track :)

F1 cars have so many restrictions such as the size and placement of wings and diffusers, no fans, many engine limitations plus they're open wheelers.

I believe the X1 would be possible, Adrian Newey's a god to me!!! I'm the biggest fanboy of his

For the tires, well maybe or maybe not. Bridgestone tires this year were capable of lasting 75% race distance (more in some cases) for people who wanted to push them on F1 cars, which pull 5G during braking and 3-4G during turns. They have made incredible advancements in tire technology. 2 laps in an X1 certainly sounds possible, we don't really know what g-forces the car is capable of though. Plus there is so much downforce at all speeds because of the fan and huge wing that there is very little slip, reducing wear as well. Of course once you unlock it the tires last quite a bit longer but again, we don't really know what the car is doing to the tires. Just going fast isn't the only thing we need to look at when considering wear.

As far as a human surviving it ... well again we know the g-forces are high but we really don't know what they are. Maybe a special suit could be developed, or maybe a few laps are possible. The design didn't seem to be based around that though anyways, they seemed to be focused on making the fastest car possible ... human or no human :)

Got gold on Suzuka and Monza. Took about 20mins each (probably less for Monza). Mainly just adjusting to the car and its pretty easy then. Managed to catch Vettel's ghost on Suzuka but got distracted by it and messed up the spoon curve a little. Great fun though, can be addicting flying through the S bends and degnar. I love the whole X1 idea. On to Nurburgring tomorrow.

Have just come home from work and feeling pretty tired. Supposed to be going out tonight and was gonna grab a nap. Decided to give Nurgurg one las go before goin out and
YAY 2:07.742

I'm seriously happy with that.:dopey:

Just need to do Suzuka. Any easier/harder than Nurgurg anyone?

Im finding Suzuka very tough. I always just barely get all 4 tyres off the ground on turn 8. And if i take it any later im off the track and fail anyways.

Happy New Year,
The thing is, turned all your aids[OFF] with the exception of anti skid recovery system And you'll gonna appriciate the dream car of adrian newey.

Well my last message before the New Year is DON'T GIVE UP.
I was seriously thinking that this could be the first time a driving game has got the better of me. Was I getting too old??????

Just kept plugging away.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL GTPlanet members 👍

Bronze in this challenge gets you the fastest car in the game. WTF could be the prize for silver and gold!?

Bronze gives you Red Bull X2010 S. Vettel

Silver gives you Red Bull X2010 (meaning it is colored red, orange, black, white, etc)

Gold gives you Red Bull X2010 Prototype (carbon fiber)

I'm at the point where it's pretty clear I do not have the talent to get gold on these three challenges. I am having enough trouble right now just getting a bronze on Suzuka, my best time is like 2:18.x and I thought I was blazing when I did that one. *sigh*

Think it was like that for everyone. Takes a while to get used to how the X2010 handles. Took me a while to get bronze as well, also thought I'd never get gold or even silver. Still managed to get all gold though. Just need to try it many times, get used to both the track and the X2010 and you can do it. :)

Thanks for the motivation. I just got my Bronze on Suzuka, winning me the first X1. Ended up with a time of 2:15.966 I changed my approach a bit on several of the turns and that helped me out a lot.

Also holy CRAP at that vid chromatic. You take those corners at speeds I didn't think even close to possible. That one corner after the S's in FIFTH gear?! You go through so fast you have to brake for the following turn as soon as you exit that one. You exit the hairpin in the 80s Through the chicane in the hundreds.

wtf I've gotta step my game up for real.

Thanks.

There's probably .5 lost on each of those laps. There's so much time to be had with late sharp braking and just getting a bit more positive with the steering wheel. Don't be scared to test the limit and just see how far it can be pushed. Times will start tumbling.

Just done the Nurburgring GP and now have all golds. :)

I've already have the bronze version (red bull) but I if get silver or gold do I get another X1?

If you get both silver and gold, you will be awarded 2 more X1's. Randomly coloured X1 for all silver, and the Prototype X1 (carbon) for all gold.

Could somebody please tell me some split times for nurb gp? My best outlap so far is a 1:05.6 but I'm not really sure where in the lap I am losing time.

For a steady outlap pace wise and to be in with a chance of 2:07,500-2:07,999 I'd say 34:000-34:100 and 48.600-49:000.

A 2:06 total time or less can be done and you can lose and gain time so easily so its quite tricky to say. I could be 49.300 on the outlap and recover that on the last two corners or just hook the second lap up.

Congrats on the Carbon lllSeanTlll 👍

The X1 is a showcase of all tech. Ground effect and Fans aren't legal now, but where in the 70's...

Just finished the Indy 500 endurance race on B-spec, about 10,000 XP away from unlocking the challenge so doing the Indy race on Dreamcar championship. Finally I will be able to get to drive the X2010 in the game and maybe I can join the carbon X1 club through golding these challenges.

As for nurburgring, its best to try and keep your speed above 105-115 mph in the corners except for the Veedol chicane at the end and the first bend. The Veedol chicane can be responsible for losing out on time.

Use the sector checkpoints to work out whether you are doing the lap in good time. For silver/gold times, I would recommend getting past the checkpoints in these times

(outlap times) The first checkpoint I would say 0:19:xx-0:20:xx, second checkpoint would be 0:34:xx-0:35:xx, third checkpoint 0:49:xx-0:50:xx.

Ideally you would want 1:05 or quicker for the outlap if you want to have a chance at getting silver

In a few minutes I will be level 30 and will use your advise on the sector times. First will backup gamesave though as my B-Spec driver has been grinding the Indy 500 all day. Hope I'll be fast enough to get Bronze at least initially then work my way up to Gold this week.

First impressions the challenge seems very doable and quite easy with the SRF, a lot harder without it. Insult to the car for using the SRF but I may go and do the challenges in the future with it off. First time I completed two laps I got a silver with SRF and that was crashing on the Veedol chicane on the first lap. I'm in the 48sec for the last checkpoint on first lap and can see myself golding these challenges very soon.

Beware, these challenges are REALLY hard. If you don't have a steering wheel and pedals, its impossible to get silver around Nurburgring and Suzuka. Bronze is doable with the DS3 controller though.

I finally managed to silver Nurburgring with 2:09:400. I only have Suzuka left since I already manage to silver Monza when I was stuck with my DS3 controller.

Suzuka isnt as bad as nurburgring, but the times they ask for are just as demanding as nurburgring, my best time as of this post is still around 2:13.

The X2010 doesn't have fans/turbines, they eventually went for regular internal combustion with a gearbox, though in the intro videos it still appears to have a turbine, guess they didn't change that :)

I just unlocked this, tried with my DS3 first, did a pretty safe but steady run on the Nurburgring, thought i might even be nearish bronze but did it in about 3 minutes...not even close! This is gonna take some practice...
