Sebastien Vettel challenge: all gold

I know to get around the S bend, but I use Automatic transmission.

I know you do know how to get around the S bend but how much speed are you carrying through them, I go through more or less full throttle at 4th gear.

I didn't try automatic but manual is quite easy to use on the wheel as they are just buttons perfectly placed and may help you reduce your lap times as it allows for better engine braking on downshifts.

The coloured X1 I got is solid Orange, not the most ideal colour I would go for but it makes a change from the S.Vettel vinary

Well done on getting the silver trophy on Suzuka, my car colour was purple, like yourself, I would most likely not get that colour but it makes a change I suppose.

For those, who are struggling to get gold, for me it worked FAR BETTER with tcs and stability control OFF and skid recovery ON, try that, maybe it'll help. It gave me instantly 1.5 seconds a lap.

I tried this and yes its definately hard, even to get bronze, where I completed all licenses and other test in GT5 to gold...
In fact its so hard, id like to write the following letter to Polyphony digital and the guy who has his name on this challenges...

Dear Yamauchi-san, S. Vettel

I would like to see you 2 try get gold on ONE of these challenges WITH controller. See you by the time Gran Turismo 6 is coming out, laterssss.

gouki

I see, you're playing with a controller, me with wheel. I sat for 7 hours straight tying to gold them all, so far I golded Nürburgring and Monza. Suzuka is a real beast to gold, am 0.5 seconds off the gold time.

Yeah I'm thinking there is a discrepancy in functionality and effectiveness using the controller. For example, I'm studying that vid chromatic posted earlier and he doesn't have to brake at all around the S turns at Suzuka but even if I try to coast around them at a considerably lower speed, I fly off the track. There's little point in continuing with this if the game simply doesn't allow winning with the equipment I have. Pretty disappointing =\

I recently completed the challenge and I have a DFGT. I had a hard enough time with a wheel, I can't see using the controller being any fun.

Bronze is pretty straight forward except Susuka, it took me forever just to get bronze.

The other two tracks weren't too bad once I figured out that my brake on the DFGT was bugged and it was going on by itself causing my times to be really slow. Once I got the brake fixed I made pretty short work of atleast bronze on Nurb and Monza but Susuka took forever.

I am not sure if I am going to go for gold....

Oh BTW, you level from 30 to 31 by getting just bronze on two of the tracks. I think you get about 345,000cr and about 450,000XP from each bronze, the exact numbers I am not sure of though.

I just tried this for the first time today and I was like 30 seconds behind the bronze. But I definitely don't hold it against them. I mean you gotta earn it. This game pushes you to the limit and then a little further and I love that.

But I have only got a controler soooo, let's see...

All bronze is doable with the controller. Doesn't seem like Gold is though. At least not on Suzuka and maybe not GP/F either. I think I read of someone getting a gold on monza though.

Got silver on Monza with a 2:05.286. On one of the attempts I actually passed the ghost but I messed up later on (I get nervous when I'm doing well).

329,000 Cr and 649,100 exp. Nice. Gold is totally doable on this track with the controller. I'm going to sleep now. Should have a long time ago.

Could anyone who has golded the Nurburgring challenge care to have a look at my outlap and tell me how and where I can improve exactly? That is my best lap I have managed so far in the game. Made a mess of the second lap though.

If you are using SRF then be more aggressive on throttle and steering, your lap seems to smooth for my liking if you are using SRF. I can't help you if you are trying to do it without SRF as I just wanted to get these out of the way quickly without too much frustration. Will try it without SRF when I have more time.

My lap was very scruffy and focused on quick exits from corners by hard braking then fast aggressive turning and and full throttle to get out of the corners. I did a 1.04.126 on the first lap so you should aim around there and second lap you have to maintain a similar pace and get a time of around 1.03.8XX to get Gold, I got a 1.03.340 on there. My total time was 2.07.466 and it was far from perfect but it had reasonable pace consistently. This car likes getting pushed hard on corners, so test the limits more and more and as you can see from my time there is a lot that can be improved. Taking a corner slightly faster can give you a few tenths extra and becoming more aggressive through all the corners adds the time up. You can improve a lot by going full throttle on turns 3-5 and cutting the track. If you look at the videos posted on this thread, then they could help and look at their throttle inputs and braking. There's a video at the top of this page that shows someone new to using a wheel getting gold. Sector times should be for the first two from the top of my head should be around 19.5.19.9 and 39.7-40.0 to have a good chance of getting Gold.

What wheel do you use? Did you find yourself turning the wheel 90 degrees or 180 degrees for most turns? I've been trying to ensure i turn 180 degrees but some corners I still naturally only turn 90 degrees.

Man this challenge is insane. Have gold on all the license tests, all special events, all seasonal events, but can't even get the damn bronze!

Using a DS3 all the time, since I dont have a wheel. I don't need the X2010 since I allready got it (B-Spec), but I just want all gold in everything!

I second that. Im using a DS3 as well and working my way through all the licenses atm. I hope to get it at 35 Bspec and practice with it on the tracks.

I used a Logitech GT, I drove in cockpit view and steered on instinct from the visuals but I would say around 180 degrees, basically as far as I could turn in the time of reaching and exiting the corner. Suzuka is the hardest one of the all challenges even if you know the track well from GT5P, both the Nurburgring and Monza took me about 2-3 hours to Gold but Suzuka took me the same amount just for that one track. Amazing how long you can spend on golding these considering the time for the whole two laps is just two minutes and time seems to fly by. I can post my videos up of my laps if you like. It is a bit of a different style to most on here, and I will record both replay mode and onboard video with throttle input and braking visible.

Any video would help. I've always been better at road cars rather than the f1/fgt/x1. It is just so much harder picking up where you are losing time when you are going that fast. I think I'm losing most of my time in the final chicane and the s bend that is really bumpy after the first sector. I've gone through there much quicker before without the car bouncing so much but I can't find the right line to get rid of those bumps.

Will post some videos up later today as I used one of them cheap Ezcap usb recording devices, I will need to crop them due to black borders around the side and wrong aspect ratio. I've always been more competitive with the F1 car in GT5P leaderboards than road cars but still I have golded all the Seasonal, Special and every event until Suzuka 3000KM endurance events.

I used to be really crap though, but only became better after starting to watch F1 again for the last two years. I thought how hard can it be after watching onboards, they all pretty much brake at the same points, turn-in and accelerate. With that knowledge I played GT4 again March 2010 and Golded all the licenses, before I struggled to get Bronze and looked at Gold times as impossible. Also did all the missions which I thought were impossible before as I kept on losing time to the front runners than gaining time to them to overtake them all. Managed to finally get 100% in GT4 and my first GT game with 100% and all Golds.

By the way which wheel do you use? My settings for golding all challenges were SRF On (Insult to the car I know), TCS 0, ABS 1 and Brake Bias Front and Rear 10. It helps brake later for the final chicane.

I'm using the G25. I'll add the front and rear bias as well and try that out. I saw a video on the previous page and I see what you mean by I'm driving too smooth. I'm driving the car like a road car still. I'll get the hang of it eventually I guess.

Down to a 1:04.2 outlap within 15 minutes of changing my driving style for this challenge. Still probably have about .3-.4 improvement in there if I string all the sectors together. Can get my first sector down to a mid 19 second and 3rd sector in the 1.48's a few times.

Thanks for the tips it has worked wonders. Now off to try get that consistency up.

Since 2 days I tried to get a medal on Monza and Nurburgring.
After bronze on Monza just got bronze on Nurburgring.
So Suzuka is next.

The thing is...I just never had the feeling I can aim higher than bronze..there is quite some gap between bronze and silver.
Are there more people here who ,after getting bronze, felt it was their limit?
But did you got (maybe after a long time of trying) silver or gold after that?

It just seems impossible for me...

Dont know if it is mentioned earlier, but just found out that you can boost the braking performance on the car at the Vettel challenges.

1. Go to Controller options and activate the RA menu function.

2. Enter any of the Vettel challanges.

3. Start.

4. Wait for the green light and then Press RA menu, and scroll down to adjust the F and R brake pressure. Set both to 10 for best braking performance. Also crank up the ABS.

5. Press START and exit before you restart or disqualifying. Quiting will save the RA settings so you dont have to reset them every time you restart.

6. Start racing and try out the new settings.

This will give some shorter braking distances. Just remember to downshift even faster.

Try setting the brake balance to F9 R10 at Suzuka. Then you can brake late and through the car into corners like a rally-car. You certainly have to recalibrate your driving style but it will shave off a couple of sec (tried out with a DS3).

Man, I've been trying this Monza challenge for HOURS. I'm just not consistent enough. I've passed the Ghost so many times but I end up making some goofy mistake. AGH

I finally finished it. Oh my god. 2:03.925 HA Nearly 1 million points of exp for it too. Awesome. Still got the other two to do though. I'll probably work on Nurburgring again first.

I just golded Nurburgring, which only leaves Suzuka now! Can anyone post their splits for the outlap?

I'm consistently 29.5 and 54.5 on the sectors, so obviously I need to be much faster...

Is there anyone who uses a DS3 and got gold??

please say yes? if this is impossible and i have to buy a wheel for that challenge only, so i can get platinum, that would suck big time!

i'm getting nervous with all the stories about this challenge ! :nervous:
