Sebastien Vettel challenge: all gold

Is there anyone who uses a DS3 and got gold??

please say yes? if this is impossible and i have to buy a wheel for that challenge only, so i can get platinum, that would suck big time!

i'm getting nervous with all the stories about this challenge ! :nervous:

Noone I'm heard of, I'm afraid.. Monza is beatable with DS3, but the rest is impossible. (IMO)

I just golded Nurburgring, which only leaves Suzuka now! Can anyone post their splits for the outlap?

I'm consistently 29.5 and 54.5 on the sectors, so obviously I need to be much faster...

I got between 27.9 and 28.2 on the first sector and between 52.2 and 52.7 on the second sector.

Only in Monza you can do Gold with Dualshock, Suzuka is impossible and Nurburgring also.

Don't give up without trying. I personally believe all gold is possible with ds3, I've got gold on Monza, and with some practice I'm only couple of seconds off gold on Nürburgring, while I still see a lot of room for improvement. Suzuka is the ultimate challenge, but I'm not ready to call it impossible just yet.

Hmm, you just opened a window for me, Suzuka is one of my favo tracks, i can tear that track up. 👍

Well if that would be half of a second, then yes! but not couple. Keep trying though, maybe you will be first in the entire world, game recognize that and reward you with some mind blasting reward :sly:

Sure 2-3 seconds is a lot still, but in Monza I improved hugely with practice and I haven't raced Nürburgring nearly as much yet, I haven't even got two satisfactory laps yet and I'm only that far, that's why I feel optimistic. Of course shaving off that last .5 sec is/will be most difficult, but I shall not give up.

Thats because Monza is easy track, only straight sections and two corners and two chicanes to cut. Nothing hard at all. But Other to? Well I'm keeping my fingers cross for you.

It's so fantastic to drive those challenges with wheel. you feel every thing. This is so cool.

According to my exsperience (and all others using a DS3) it is impossible.

Ive played trough all the GT games since GT1 using a controller(Dual shock/dual analog). All completed 100%, and all golds. Had no problems with the GT5 licences, special events or seasonal events. Found the Formula GT cup really challenging, but after some practice, I won all the races with good margin.

But this Vettel challenge.... To get bronze at Nurbergring and Suzuka is by far the greatest challenge in GT yet.

First used the right stick for acc/brk, and was constantly 1.5 sec off bronze every perfect run. Didnt come any futher after hours of practice.

Then I reassigned the buttons so I could use the acc and brake at the same time and gained cornering speed and got the bronze after a few runs. Managed to get a few perfect runs after that but not even close to silver at Nurburgring.

I think the problem is the sensitivity setup on the controller in GT5. It is set up to fit most cars and it cant be changed. The controller simply will not turn the steering wheel of the X2010 fast enough. The car cant change direction as fast as when using a wheel, and it is getting slower through shicanes.

Well this is just my theory, but if this is true maybe it will be fixed in a future update.

I got between 27.9 and 28.2 on the first sector and between 52.2 and 52.7 on the second sector.

Thanks, that's very useful, and confirms that I'm still way far off. I shaved 4.8s of Nurburgring in 2 days for gold, but Suzuka's just a beast. We'll see what happens, thanks again!

I just started doing the Vettel Challenge today and after 3 hours got gold on Monza with a time of 2:03.290 ABS 1 TC 3 Then i had a go at Nurburg and could only get 2min 19 s gave up cos my hands are hurting and have a blister. lol will try tommorrow. Looks like Nurburg will be the hardest as i like Suzuka.

To me, Monza doesn't seem any easier than Nürburgring w/ DS3. Sure I could cut corners at chicanes, but I had to cut it just right or I didn't gain enough time, since I always lost about second or more on the corners before backstraight, so it wasn't easy at all.

BTW I just got silver on Nürburgring, so less than 1,5 secs off gold 👍. Thanks for crossing fingers :sly:

Yes, the second one is by Polyphony Digital, with a yellow livery, the third is a carbon fibre X1.

Monza is so much easier it's not even comparable. You can literally pass the ghost car on the short straight after the second chicane on the first lap.

Yeah i know i tried Suzuka in practice and i got about 1:06 i dont think its that bad because i only had about an hour of practice with the X1. I just like to use the line to follow it but not the breaking points.

Yeeeeha, Gold, Gold, Silver. Suzuka. Silver. Efin Deneger Curve. I'm using a DFGT and the skid recovery force on. Everything else off xsept the ABS which is at one. Using the SRF I find it makes the car skid more through the corners which is advantageous as you brake so late that you can drift round the bend. I suspect I'll be having Mr' Vettel this afternoon round suzuka. Incidentataly I golded Nurburgring gp/f and I didn't passed the ghost.

I'm in practice mode on GP/F and right now my best lap time is a 1:05.958. So basically 2 seconds I have to shave off. I think it's the chicane at the end that is killing my time. I have a feeling that if I had a wheel I'd be done with this challenge a long time ago. Argh.

Well after one night of trying I have gold, gold, bronze. It took me 50 minutes to get gold on Nurburg. When I did get it, I was out in front of Vettel half way thru the second lap and maintained the lead to the line. I beat gold by about a second.

Monza was easy, beat it in about 15 minutes of trying.

I tried for an hour at Suzuka and the closest I got was 1.9 seconds off of gold so I still have a ways to go in that one. Another day..

Overall I'm quite relieved. The way some people were talking, I thought golds would be impossible.

Given all the time I've put into it for just two bronze medals and a gold, that's extremely depressing to read. :(

Other than Gran Turismo, I play F1 mods in rFactor exclusively and extensively during the F1 season, so if it makes you feel any better, my experience in that probably helps me a lot.

I put about 30 min into racing all 3 tracks with the CONTROLLER .... my conclusion would be that Monza is doable and the other 2 are not. And by doable for me I mean bronze in Monza.
