It always reminds me of one of these, somehow:

I blame that front wing.

 both cars stick to the ground, I bet that thing handle better than Jay Leno Tank Car! :sly:

About PD and their game vision, I don't know, GT5's engine got lot of potential, in future with a PS4 will be stunning, BUT all that power still need reasonable developers with reasonable ideas to stay on top. I can feel your pain when you talk about the lack of fun in career mode. GT5 now is almost about online racing in a private lobby with clean drivers. Online racing is cool sure, but it's TIME CONSUMING to be honest. Join the lobby, test the car, wait for other mates, let them test the car, and then after a while.. qualifing and racing. GT5 should have the same GTR2 options about AI and customized events. Quick and extremely fun/competitive races against the cars YOU want in the track YOU want. And it doesn't have the replay ruined by Commodore 64 shadows :grumpy:
I'm really hoping ALL other console developers will be pushing forward into sim direction, because PD need to see people not buying anymore their game to change mentality.

i love the giulietta, can't wait to tune it.. my brother has it.
If you wonna tune it in the game you need collector edition.

I'd be willing to think that people said the same about GT4's engine and the PS3 ;)

Anyways, I'm still a bit curious about my decision to preorder S2U for the PS3. I hope it won't end up being significantly worse than the Xbox360 version :indiff:

I really doubt that. the first one had a lot more bugs on the PS3 expecially with the damage on the cars.

Yes it did, which is presumably why they chose to do it the other way around this time. Tinram put the link above.

Is it better to get it on PS3 or Xbox?

No one will know until it's out. The fact that it was developed with PS3 as the primary platform suggests that the PS3 version is likely to be the better one, but you just never know until you see it.

..and definately this exterior :D

Yeah!! That's great! :D
I am looking forward to drive this Delta at night with these huge rally-style lights!
Turn the night into day! :)

By the way the new speedhunters article has some very nice information on Shift 2 Unleashed and some amazing graphics! 👍

Thanks! 👍
Sounds like I made the right decision in getting the PS3 version after all.

If you're asking me, it only makes sense to develop racing games primarily on the PS3, due to the better selection of wheels. Good to finally have a source on this 👍

I would take that article with a pinch of salt, it also claims the game has "dynamic weather"

There must be a reason why SMS are not showing off the PS3 version.

Because they have the PC version and any marketing department in their right mind would use that instead.

We only saw the 360 version through a miscommunication, and the videos were pulled pretty quickly after they went up. The fact that it happened to be the 360 version and not the PS3 version was probably just random more than any conspiracy.

I doubt we'll see much footage of the console versions before release.

I would be surprised if the PC version was again not lead platform and then ported to console's, that article seems pretty unreliable imo.

One of the best pics of S2U so far, I think. 👍

I'm not so sure about that. Someone else brought this up some time ago, but isn't it easier to develop something on the PS3 and adapt to the 'easier' systems afterwards?

You certainly get better results leading on PS3 and porting to 360 & PC as the other versions dont suffer as much as PS3 games if lead on PC or Xbox. The only problem is devs much prefer the architect of the Xbox or PC which is why not many games are lead on PS.

Technically, the engine it runs on is designed to be multi-platform capable. It's not designed for any one particular platform, it's designed to support multi-core architectures.

This Engine Moves a Lot More Than Cars
  • Cross platform engine currently supporting XBox 360, PS3 and PC
  • Built specifically for multi-core and multi-processor architectures
  • Optimised to maximise the capabilities of each target platform
  • Automated tool chains built for distributed development
  • Advanced AI with decision making, finite state machines and custom behaviours
  • Advanced physics system for world physics, characters and objects with NVIDIA PhysX support
  • One of the most advanced vehicle physics/driving dynamics systems on the planet.
Please Do Not Look Directly at The Madness Engine
  • Fully featured, state of the art rendering system
  • Realistic depth of field and motion blur
  • HDR lighting and displacement maps, per-vertex, per-pixel and volumetric lighting
  • Radiosity, lightmapping, gloss maps, and cutting edge anisotropic lighting

Beyond the base engine, I see no reason to believe that they're not developing the non-racing parts on PS3 and porting them over. One system is probably as good as another for that, and there's probably reasons why porting from PS3==>PC/360 is easier than the other way around.

It's completely irrelevant though, I doubt there will be a massive backlash if the menus on one platform are slightly different to the menus on another. The racing is what everyone wants ported well, and the fact that the engine was designed outside of any platform and then optimised for each of the three tends to support that.

Sometimes I wish I was born in the world where piss-filter was never introduced and white-balance is measured in correct-offset.

Yep, will be good to see some normal daylight shots rather than the loads and loads of magic hour dawn/dusk shots they've been showing off :)
