You mean 560 or 360?

560. I used to use 540, but fine tuned it to my liking and ended up with 560. I was using 360 for the loaner cars, but haven't needed to since after the patch. And if I do turn it down, I barely have any FFB.

I use the default settings (360) and FFB is only strong in the first race...

Have you tried restoring your settings with the method RomKnight previously posted? It definitely worked for me.

I tried default settings, 900, 720, 540 and 360. Full FFB only at 1st race.

I still feel more comfortable with deadzones=0, FFB=100, speed sensitivity=100, steer lock 540, brakes=40, clutch=80, accelerator=45

RomKnight, i done what you suggested, and it worked brilliantly.

Thanks for that tip.

I myself have not noticed any FFB drop off in the second races at all, it honestly seems the same for me from race 1 to race 2, strange that.

i couldn't believe, but now that i read the comments i know it really happened: first race after you boot the console is PERFECT. not only FFB is right, but there's no deadzone, no delay, no movements on the straights, no loss of grip and the wheel is hard (i use 900° configuration). after a reset or the first race everything return as once. is something i can't understand at all.

I dont know what on earth they've done with this patch but it appears to have made the car physics worse.

The physics (along with wheel feedback) after the patch seem slightly better to me, especially for stock cars with default settings.
But it's a very subtle change and I admit it, it may even be a placebo or I am becoming much better in Shift 2 (quite possible since it's the only driving game I play since I bought it and I still find it fresh, exciting and entertaining)! ;)
Not that I had any complaint for the physics before the patch... :D

But I hope they release a new patch soon that will resolve the various freezing issues...

The post-patch physics are brilliant, with a controller at least. Much more sophisticated than GT5's, which makes driving fast cars so easy that every noob can get into a LeMans car and set a competitive laptime - even with cold tires... Which can obviously not be realistic.

Can't wait for the DLC to come out and hit that hidden oval on Monza.

The physics do seem slightly different, more understeer when pushed hard in my Golf GTI and E46 M3 (this is a good thing). Haven't really driven much else yet though.

I just wish the lag would finally get resolved (on PS3) and that the FFB not keep giving up after 1 race.

I am struggling a lot with the lag when correcting oversteer, coming out of corners and getting the power on is tricky in higher powered cars. I have to remember to hold off slightly each time.

Can't wait they fix those *** freezes and LE content :( I cannot believe they will let people alone with all these issues. People forced to boot console everytime.. what the hell... this is uneceptable! I feel sorry for all of them. SMS where are you at ? Patch 1.01 and that's it, Bug for Shift 2 Unleashed. 👎:grumpy:

.. what a shame.

Yes you are right and I also starting to be affraid for my Fat because of all the forced rebooting...
But what really P&%$& me off is the fact that no one (EA/SMS) says anything about a future patch for the console versions,,, Hell, I dont even know if they are aware of all the bugs the game has on the console versions and what are their plans about it...

Ian Bell posts said the consoles patch was split in 2 and PC guys would get it in one download. We had the 1.01. The PC guys got it and all I see is good reviews about every complaint.

Lets wait for 1.02? and see if its the same for consoles. It should come at the same time as DLC. Maybe it was split on consoles because of the Sony/MS certification?

To be honest altough PC patch works better than console, there were still a couple of bugs at Suzuka crashing the game in career mode. Luckly for pc users some modders fixed them (nogripracing). But I don't like the unprofessional behaviour SMS are showing with their console customers.

SMS / EA don't forget about console players, your game still freeze. GO FIX IT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

Care to explain? This is a new opinion on the patch as far as I remember

The cars now seem to spin out unrealistically on compressions and crests, over-exaggerated weight transfer it seems. The input delay also appears to be worsened, its increased from 0.4 to 0.7 of a second and the steering appears to have jolted towards being overly sensitive regardless of the settings. It also appears to automatically default ALL settings everytime i start up.

If you use a wheel, DON'T start the game with a pad. In fact, use it only for getting out of the game (if you use doesn't have a PS button).

At least happened to me today. I started the game just to check a lap time but after that I decided to plug the wheel and it was hell to play. Get out, disable pad, use wheel to start the game. that solved it.

Ok so thats it... but I must say that Im on a DFGT and I use the controler all the time to make liveries... never started the game with the controler though.

I NEVER use pad, lol, it's idiotic to use a pad for a racing game and then comment on realism lol

Yeah, I know what you mean...
I can't play any driving game without a wheel.
And while I like the DS3 I just can't control any driving game with it! :D

Also you must use the controller to rotate the camera on replays and to have better control in photo-mode.
At least we can change controller assignment on the fly and temporarily change to DS3 by keeping the PS-Button on the DS3 pressed.

But it would be great if SMS could let us use both the wheel and the controller at the same time, ONLY at the menus and in the replay and photo-mode, just like GT5.

Oh well, it's no big deal... :D

Good for you! I guess I'll just always be an idiot. :dunce: lol

EDIT: I forgot to put an "lol" at the end.

Nevermind, I bet he wears an helmet and gloves and burns some rubber in the room before playing just for the sake of realism...:dopey:

It's equally idiotic to wire up your living room as a makebelief car and then claim it's more realistic.

Real car = realism
Console game = game / something you do for fun

<Insert obligatory lol here>

So you make liverys with the wheel for the sake of realism?

I was talking about the driving part. I use the pad for other things:

- replays,
- photo mode
- livery editor... but I suck at it so i stopped.
- just checking lap times like I posted in previous page

I don't always have my rig - I don't know if I can call it that :D - connected in the living room because of the wife factor :grumpy:

And yes, you have a racing game so everyone should be able to play it with proper hardware. For me it adds to realism/simulation whatever.

Like I said many times, I play for FUN but I like to enjoy a game the way its intended to be played. Racing games: wheel; FPS: keyboard and mouse; platform games: pad

Just that. Obviously, a sim its still a sim no matter what controller you use.

Not Ian Bell's posting, but nonetheless straight from the horse's mouth: here

In that posting it's being made clear that the first patch which we have got, aka 'DLC title update', will be followed by a second patch, aka 'title update 2'. Only in that second patch will the steering lag, Logitech FFB issues etc. be fixed.

Which system you on? I heard that the 360 does a little better.

I've got a PS3 and on the first race everything feels great. There is no steering lag and cars have feeling to them. After that first race everything goes bad.Steering lag seems increased like you said and the cars are real sensitive.

I have yet to see the settings going to default though.
