most normal people have no clue of this, and would just fire from their position, with lots of unarmed, unprotected individuals surrounding them.
What normal people? One of the most often repeated lines around a gun range is to know what is beyond your target. This was drilled into me when I first started shooting and I was only firing BB guns that couldn't penetrate a rubber mat at the time. Gun owners don't have to be trigger happy bricks. People are aware of what guns can do, and this is one reason why people train to use them correctly.
Report has upped the injury count to 71.
71?? wtf. What weapons was the guy using to kill 12 and injure 71 people all by himself?
I'm guessing that smoke inhalation is counting as a reported injury.
THIS part has me very nervous. Hopefully this doesnt happen. It will only set a bad example for other people that attempt to do something like this again. If they shut down the movie, the killer wins.
This was shocking, 71.. like wow. I don't want to go to the movies for a while now..
MustangRyanGreats.
I'm not making the argument for or against guns for the masses, just trying to get some perspective on it... since we don't have guns or much gun crime to speak of over here.
Stabbings are up over there though. Guns are equalizers, no guns invites well... things like this.
Guns obviously aren't 'equalizers' though, or else things like this wouldn't happen. It's not often you get an individual that takes out a class room full of kids with a knife, or a movie theatre full of Batman fans.

That's exactly what he would want. They do it, he wins. I say everyone should go see it just to spite him.
I'm confused, the shooter's motive was he didn't wan't anybody to see a Batman movie?

I think you're missing the point of terrorism. However, since we don't know his motive, we don't know what he wanted.
It has been reported (might be false) that he felt that the movies had a political message and this was his protest against that message.
I think the point was that if we don't go and see the movie (or see any movie really) we let him win because he put fear in our lives by thinking that all movie theaters could be at risk.
