Should PD have let the modding slide? ... OP Updated.

Should PD allow this activity in GT5?

I just thought about this. When people talk about cheaters, how do you know they're talking about every person who creates or uses a hybrid? Unless they say so of course, but it seems people may be getting offended and throwing insults for not even being called out in the first place.

I supose it's because those people are posting on a thread about hybrids, so it's only natural people assume the word "cheaters" is for those who create/use hybrids.
No?

No, and if you'd bothered to read some of the thread you'd know both sides of the discussion and could add something meaningful.

Realistic hybrids are still possible, I have a 69 Z28 Camaro with 764 hp at 11,000 rpm and a Ford GT no

stripe cut down to 1,300 hp. The Ford GT is a monster, it makes peak power from 6,000-12,000 rpm.

Yeah they are, the problem is engine swaps are not possible right now. (For most ;) )
P.S. I don't know many 11-12,000rpm Camaros.... :P

Hmm?
I was just trying to say that the the ones who create/use hybrids (me included) assume that when the anti-hybrids call all of us (the hybrid users/creators) cheaters in general, is without knowing who is or who isn't actually cheating, so we tend to respond even if we don't actually cheat.

But oh well. I apologise if I couldn't pass my thoughts that well into english text. English isn't my mother language afterall :ouch:

Just came from online, cruising on my ford MKIV, something blast me to hell and back, perfect, hacked cars are back

*Sighs* >_> Great...

As the modders have been saying all along, CHEATERS were not dealt with. The modders with cars that conformed to the game rules were treated like criminals. Rather than cut to the core issue, they upset even more.

The modders have their cool cars destroyed, disrespecting hours of hard work and the hybrid haters, who are really just cheater haters with misplaced anger, still have to deal with online cheaters.

Nobody wins except the cheaters.:grumpy:

100000000hp cars are back (never left)

Enthusiast Hybrids were ruined....for now.

Wait. Are the only hybrids around the ones with HP multipliers? Or can people still do chassis/engine/drivetrain/transmission/visual mods after the patch?

Starciller
So pretty much what they have done is removed the hybrids we want, but kept the ones we don't like?

Exactly.

So basically everyone can thank PD for their crappy update.

PD continues to show that they don't know how to manage their own game. Sad.

Agreed. Seriously I can't believe both parties lost, and those annoying 100,000,00hp cars are still around... WOW PD... T_T

I have to say you are so right on that one MuoNiuLa. GT5 is a complete mess now...

No, they managed to protect DLC cars, but the method they chose ruined mods. Why they didn't have a better method in the first place, or what they didn't just flag the body file as DLC is beyond me.

Obviously, they didn't care one bit about cheating and only paid it lip service.

Yep and late last night I had seen someone with a 400,000HP NSX.
The worst part it sounded like a normal NSX out on the track

I still see this update as a half-🤬 attempt to secure GT5. The method used to color cars with DLC paint for free remains unchanged. And there still is a way to get the DLC cars for free and keep them, even in update 2.12.

WOOooow... That's just pure ridiculous. :indiff: Very disappointed in you PD.

Someone actually had the nerve to tell me earlier today "well you can always go make cool high HP cars". If i was the host it would have kicked him for saying that.

Are you being serious about the NSX having 400,000 HP? Or are you exaggerating? I thought the most HP you could make was 100,000.

Did they really? So they think making high HP is cool? They are sadly mistaken...

Sorry, my apologies. My mistake. :)

Doh Really??? I wasn't sure about that.

So let's recap. Patch 2.12 does the following:

End extreme cheating? - Nope
Protecting the integrity of DLC? - Not really
Address the concerns of the stance community to have additional suspension adjustment? - Nope
Address the concerns of tuners to have more chassis adjustment? - Well, they left hidden weight tickets in there.
Address the concerns of league racers to protect the rooms? - Niet
Address the concerns of modders who want to part swap? - INFIDELS!!!!

Slow down the online experience for everyone? - CHECK!

Destroy thousands of hours of research and development by a passionate community who have paid millions of dollars to your company for a decade and a half? - SUCCESS!

I say it again. PD needs to work WITH the community not against it. If they addressed the REASON people were modding rather than simply address the act of modding, then everyone would win. Now, everyone loses.

Obviously, the 2.10 patch was an attempt to refresh things. It was a terrible way to do it. 2.10 should have given us modding/advanced tuning and everyone would be happy. Instead we've had a patch (2.11) to undo their attempt to liven things up and a patch (2.12) to undo our attempt to liven things up. There must be a junior producer in charge of the patches because this is not the work of someone experienced.

snip.... There must be a junior producer in charge of the patches because this is not the work of someone experienced.

I've said that same thing a few times. There's one guy at PD working on GT5, the raw rookie, right out of school who can't be trusted with anything important..aka..GT6. His cubical is way off in the corner, he has 10 year old CRT 17" monitor, a wired keyboard and mouse, and a PC that probaby still has a floppy drive (you kids can look that up on Google). He dreamed up 2.10, probably got crap from Kaz when someone showed him a negative post from GTP at a party one night, then was forced to fix it with 2.11. Kaz saw another post on GTP one night at another party with somebody railing against hybrids and then went and chewed out the rookie for not being one step ahead. :sly:

On a more serious note, this is exactly what you'd expect from PD. They don't understand or don't appreciate the finer details of the game, how it is played by those long term gamers who know all the in's and out's of GT5. I think they take a really broad approach to the game and the thought of catering to real specifics doesn't cross their mind. I've worked in companies before that had a really top-down management focus and PD screams this at every turn. I'm sure there are avid players in the PD offices, guys who know the game like we do, some of them may even be in this forum but unable to announce their affiliation for obvious reasons. But I think Kaz is like some kind of God to them and they are afraid to speak up and say, "Hey Mr. Kaz, nice outline for the 2.12 update, but you left out this, this, this and this". In a lot of companies the junior guys just don't do that, they keep their mouth shut, avoid the crap that flows downhill and stay out of trouble. Other companies encourage everyone to speak up, I just don't think PD is one of them.
