You are 100% correct, I have a 350Z right now (the Corsa will be delivered this Friday).
The Z is a wonderful car, but I use it for day-to-day driving (30-35k km per year) and, combined with the fact that the steering wheel has a fixed depth (which means a person of my size can't find a decent position), that makes it too hardcore (for me at least
). After a drive of an hour (which I do twice every day) my back and legs hurt. After 1.5 years, that get's really annoying really fast.
So I needed something different and more comfortable, yet still fast, preferrably without spending too much cash. So that pretty much narrowed it down to a couple of hot hatches. The other alternatives I had in mind were a Seat Leon Cupra and a Renault Megane R26.
But after I did a test drive in the Corsa I was sold.
I never suspected (being used to the Z) that this little critter would surprise me in a positive way where handling and power is concerned, but it did! Very fun to drive!
The other alternative was keeping the Z on the side and get some little cheap car for day-to-day driving, but with the Mrs. already owning a 2007 Honda CRV, that would be a bit too much.
