Why is it that Mini drivers always are so willing to spend a fortune at the dealership? Warranty issues?

I knew this girl with a Mini who would needlessly dump money into her car too.

Where would you rather me go?

3year/ 36,000mile maintenance comes with the car which is why I've gone to the dealer since I've owned the car. Dropping $1,400 to cover the car up until 100,000 miles, which I'll easily reach, seems like a no brainer. Even going to a European car mechanic to have things done would cost me more than $1,400 in service costs between now and 100,000 miles.

Sorry, I didn't mean it as a slight against you or anything. I meant it as one against Mini. But if they're going to last forever then great.

Despite what I've heard about Skullcandy headphones, I decided to buy some from the school store today.

$50 well spent in my opinion, I think they're great. They'll be perfect for when I have to wait 2 hours in between my two classes on Tuesday and Thursday.

And before you ask where that money came from, I have a decent size Pell grant. I shouldn't be using the money like this, but if they can justify me spending $150 on a book that tells me how to use common sense XP and Word functions, $50 for some headphones that will last me longer than college is perfectly fine.

But will they? Headphones aren't like a hammer, they don't just stay good. I can't count how many sets of headphones I've gone through in the past 2 years with absolutely normal use. I've taken to always buying the extended warranty on 'phones, it always pays off. It's gotten to the point that I just went through a pair of earbuds while waiting for the claims department to approve replacing my last pair.

My JVC Marshmallows have lasted me 2+ years so far. Though they are pretty cheap so I should probably get another pair by now.

Just buy Sennheiser PX100s and be done.

I guess I'm lucky then because I had a pair of $30 Sony headphones for at least 6 years, and I only had to replace them after constant abuse from being in my backpack and being used every day in school through all four years of high school. And the only reason they broke was because I had them on my head weird and I blew into the speaker causing the plastic bit inside to mess up. Needless to say I bought those same headphones again and those are my main ones that I use.

The only bad luck I've had with headphones is with a pair of large radioshack headphones. I had them for about a year and they broke because I tossed them onto the floor to hard in anger (Why do I always have to break the expensive things when I'm angry, I punched my EnV and broke the front screen because my dad took my pliers). I still have those and the speakers are still fine, you just cant where them on your head now, lol.

Basically If I baby them and don't treat them as just regular headphones I'm sure I could make them last pretty long.

2 of the many pairs in the last year have been Sennheisers (HD457 & PMX60). I'm hoping that the store I have the replacement plan with will carry them when I get reimbursed. The current selection they have blows, including both above sets.

I started with 457s and they broke on me. Stupid design. PX100s are bulletproof unless you wear them while boxing.

I've had a pair of $30 Koss cans that have lasted me 7 years, including 3 bicycle accidents and getting wet heaven knows how many times. What do you do to them?!

A good portion of them are the wiring in the jack that goes awry. It's not that easy to rewire the thready stuff either. The pair of Sennheisers were the most expensive ones (both below 75$) so build quality could be a problem too (some were uuuuultra cheap 2$ pairs too).

Die Hard 4.0
Is that rating like a sticker or something, or were they obnoxious enough to print it as part of the actual box.

I thought that too, cause it actually has a different feel the the rest of the box. But I don't think it's a sticker, they may have just printed over the rest of the box, you can't take it off...

On a kind of related note, does anyone here have any Blu-Ray disk holders? Ones that are actually half decent, do they even exist?

We bought a new vacuum this weekend. 12 amp bagless with washable filters. That thing is awesome!! I seriously could not believe the amount of dirt that it pulled up just within a few minutes. With our old vacuum we vacuum at least 1-2 times a week every week and this new vacuum pulled up more crap then I could ever imagine just within a few minutes. It even has a duster on the side with a built in duster vacuum!!! Got it for $74.99
