It's awesome enough to find this record, but out of all places I found it at Goodwill. I payed 69 cents for an almost absolutely perfect Peter Frampton record. It has the best sound quality out of all the records I have, it even beats my original Dark Side of the Moon record I payed $10 for.

I swear, this is my last large purchase this year...

Recently I had some sort of hard drive failure, however no data was lost and the drives are working fine now. Gave me a wakeup call that I need to be backing up data more often. I own three computers myself, the rig described in my sig, a netbook, and an old 1.8Ghz P4 Compaq that I use as a file server. Knowing that, I can tell you what all of this will get used for...

These things will be going into my gaming rig:

Scythe S-Flex SFF21G 120mm Case Fan - Retail x3 - Upgrading the cooling, so repacing the two stock 120mm fans with some higher CFM ones, these have a fluid filled bearing that makes them much quieter than normal ones. The third one is going in the hard drive cage below.

Thermaltake TT-9025A-2B 90mm Case Fan - Retail - Fourth fan going in the gaming rig, replacing a dead stock 90mm fan.

Thermaltake A2309 iCage 5.25" bay convert to 3 x 3.5" HDD Module - Retail - Getting this specifically for the extra 120mm fan...and immediately ditching the fan that is included for a Scythe (above).

Scythe KS01-BK "KAZE SERVER" Advanced Fan Controller - Retail - Fan controller for the three Scythe and one 90mm Thermaltake fans. The Scythes are quieter than most fans, but at full blast will still be pretty loud. The Kaze Server has manual, auto, and semi auto capabilities to control fan speeds based on some temperature probes you place in various parts of your system. It also has an alarm that goes off when it detects a failed fan or extreme temperature.

And now for the server overhaul. Quick note, if I don't have something listed here for a full system, its because I have parts I've replaced in my gaming rig waiting for it. For example, a 2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo, 600W OCZ GameXstream PSU, 80GB SATA hard drive from a customer...and so forth.

Thermaltake LANBOX Lite VF6000BNS Black SECC Gaming Cube Computer Case - Retail - Definitely my favorite small case. I've had my eye on this since I've even had the thought of doing this upgrade.

GIGABYTE GA-G41M-ES2L LGA 775 Intel G41 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail - Cheap, modern, dependable, and MicroATX were the deciding factors here. The X4500 onboard Intel graphics are good enough that I might not even put in my Geforce 7900GT.

GA-G41M-ES2L.jpg

G.SKILL 2GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Desktop Memory Model F2-6400CL6S-2GBMQ - Retail 2GB of good stuff...Good enough for now.

20-231-111-05.jpg

Seagate Barracuda LP ST31500541AS 1.5TB 5900 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive - OEM - This'll go in the server and be used purely for backing up all of my systems and data. Can't beat the capacity for the price, but its not a very high performance drive either.

You know what a hard drive looks like. Price was $10 less when I ordered, also.

Kingston 4GB Micro SDHC Flash Card w/ USB Reader Model FCR-MRB+SDC4/4GB - Retail - This was free with the hard drive.

20-134-794-02.jpg

Thermaltake TT-6025A-2B 60mm Case Fan - Retail - The LANbox has a 90mm front fan, two 60mm rear fans, and a spot to add one more 60mm in the rear. Given that its a small space and a relatively warm set of components, this can't hurt.

(the exciting part)

OKGEAR 18" SATA II Cable Model GC18ARM - Retail x2 - One for the 80GB and 1.5TB drive in the server.

D&S Cables 3T8-B Black Type 8" Cable Tie - Retail - Always finding a need for these and I never have them, so hopefully I can keep both of these systems a little more tidy.

Got some of it coming in Wednesday, some Thursday. Hopefully I can have some progress done over the weekend. :D

Nikkor f1.8 50mm lens.

Read reviews and what Scaff and Moglet had to say about it, plus I need something to give me new angles on my work to try and scrape a portfolio together for applying to UNI courses.

You won't really be finding new angles with a 50mm, but you will end up loving it for low light and when you want a limited DoF. My 50mm f/1.8 is one of my favorite lenses still :P

I just placed an order for this:

A one year subscription was only $9 in Amazon's Gold Box Deals today.

Long list is looooong. Why so many fans?

If you'd read the post, Alex...

tl;dr
Replacing all of the stock fans in the gaming rig for better cooling, adding that extra 120mm in the new HDD cage, and then the 60mm goes in an extra slot on the LANBOX case.

I want your gaming rig. :(
It's not easy to see things like that when I'm using a netbook for everything, even though it is top of the line.

Picked up this on the way home from work, excellent CD. It feels weird to buy physical media, I'm so used to getting crap off iTunes or Zune Media Player. I have all the other Tiesto CD's though so I figured I'd get this one, even though I bought it on iTunes as well (hooray $100 gift card I have no idea what to do with!). The iTunes version came with two bonus tracks, so it was worth it I suppose. I still need to track down the vinyl for it this album though.

Ha, its slowly become what it is...It started out with a simple Gigabyte P965-DS3 motherboard, the 2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo ($360 at the time!), a 7900GT ($270 at the time...if not, I have these two prices reversed - very possible), and a measly gig of RAM. That would've been 2-3 years ago I guess. And a 19" monitor at $240..Yeesh. Including surround sound and that monitor the whole build was $1900. The current setup could probably be built for $1500, probably less. Especially dumping the dual-monitors..

Don't think I've posted these here....

1GB, GDDR5! Got it at a great price too, it is second hand, but it's still a new card.

I also bought an EvoLabs 720W PSU from my local PC shop.

HD PC Gaming here I come. Roughly half way through swapping out old stuff, putting new bits in.

Last thing I paid for was my UCAS application. And it's quite scary considering the universities I applied for.

Ordered me one of these:

hauppauge_hd-pvr.jpg

It can record up to 1080i via component and connects to the PC via USB 2.0 (it contains a H264 encoder). It can also pass through the video/audio, so I can hook it up to the PS3 and still watch on TV at the same time. :) Should be in today, so I'll be recording replays and screenshots from the PS3/PSP tonight (I hope).

Wow!! I can't wait to see how your Cooper looks now Joey! :D

Me and a couple buddies will be working on it Saturday...in the comfort of my heated garage. I'll be sure and take pictures of it all when it's on. I might be getting a few more goodies too.

I bought those same shoes earlier this year, not bad for a $30 pair of shoes.

Also, I bought GT PSP.
