Velodyne perhaps? :D

sorry, thought I put that in there. :) Yes, velodyne is also in the running, still just doing research and seeing what will work out best for me. Whatever it is I want it by next week because I really can't have these speakers sitting around for too long.

Sweet. Once I get a job (hopefully by the end of this month...crosses fingers), I'll be saving up for some Paradigm floor standing models. As I live in a 3rd floor apartment, I can't really have a sub :(

I think I'll eventually pick up some floorstanding ones down the line and just move the 40's to the rear but at the moment I'm sure I'll be completely happy with this setup. I've got the luxury of having a house and having neighbors that don't care if I make a lot of noise so I can kick it up to whatever volume I feel like. Of course I'm always respectful and would never do that but I've got the flexibility if I changed my mind one day.

Yeah, before I moved from home, I used to crank my Logitech Z5500's up pretty loud. The 10" 188W sub used to shake my entire house. I can only imagine what some of these 1000W 18" home theater subs would do. :D

They'll lag and delay you to death. I have a 12'' and that's bad enough.

Ah, gotcha :)👍. That's a worthwhile purchase.

It was only worehty of posting because so many of my friends are complaining that their parwents aren`t paying enough of their purschases when here I am trying to deal witrth all of these expenses entirely on my own.

Oh welll. Better to learn to deal with expenses and budget early that later.

The more money you spend on your equipment (not just subs, but audio equipment in general), the better quality and response you will get. If these subs "lagged and delyaed to death," these companies wouldn't even bother selling them because no one would buy them. There's a reason Velodyne, SVS etc... are some of the most popular subs on the market.

Just got me a 40" Sony 1080p TV

Just got me a 40" Sony 1080p TV ...

My family bought a Sony 1080p TV as well during boxing week sales at Sony Store, but ours is 46". It looks exactly the same, KDL40V2500 right?

Too bad I haven't subscribed any HD channels nor I own a PS3/XB360 .. can't test the quality

Yup that's the same model, I just went and picked up an HDMI cable for it. Now all I have to do is get my HD cable box up and running and I'll be in business. Why the hell are HDMI cables so bloody expensive? I paid $24.99 for one but through newegg.com they are $7.99. I've order the other 3 I need through newegg and should be here by the end of the week.

For cables... http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...cs_id=1024004&p_id=2504&seq=1&format=2&style=

www.monoprice.com is pretty much win from what I can see.

edit: tree'd

Anyway I ordered the cables and they got here to IL from CA in 2 or 3 days. I don't have the TV yet though.

Cool thanks for the link.

Oh and I hate Comcast, they gave me a box without HDMI ports.

Bought these yesterday:

As far as I know, they don't offer HD boxes with HDMI outputs. Seems somewhat ridiculous, but it's debatable whether their HD signal is good enough to warrant HDMI cables anyway.

I think Comcast just fails at everything, I hate their service, but I have scheduled an appointment to have AT&T digital TV installed in two weeks. It's cheaper and gives me more channels.

Best headphones I've had in a long time. They're very comfortable, too, since they don't really stick into your ear canal very much. I'll put them to the test next week on the airplane, and see how well they dampen the outside noise.

It's basic physics that the greater the enclosure volume, the greater air compression and travel time (and thus distortion) there is. It's an unavoidable fact.

While there is truth to what you're saying, it's truth in the sense of what we perceive, not what's actually happening. There are many different ways to compensate for the effect that the human ear has difficulty detecting.

Besides those points, I was referring to middle-of-the-market audio, not high-end expensive equipment.

Not exactly something I purchased this time... but something that was given to me. It would have been something I would be interested in if I had the money anyway.

It's a Seiko diver's watch. May seem a bit pointless since I never do it (up to 200m!), but it has no battery - it's completely manual, charged up if you shake your wrist. It's really nice. :)

They do have HDMI ready boxes. I had three of them with in just a few months. The reliability on the HD signal was crap and they kept blaming the box as the problem.

I now have Dish network now and I am very happy. :)
