G29 + playseat challenge :)

I've got the same set up as you.

I bought the Challenge so I could easily set it up in the lounge and tuck it back into the corner when it isn't being used but after 6 months, it's really starting to 🤬 me off with setting up and packing it away each time. Even worse now there's a PSVR attached...

I've got two kids still living with us (20 & 24) and their bedrooms would be ideal for a permanent set up. Time to start dropping (very heavy) hints about them finally moving out or maybe I should think up some seriously unreasonable house rules or double their board.:mischievous:

G29 with shifter mounted to a repurposed, rickety few bits of wardrobe. It's actually sturdy enough unless you slide off track and it writhes around in your hands too much. I shall invest in a playseat set-up when I'm in my own place.

Thrustmaster T300 RS - T3PA pedals
2x4 and metal tube base frame
Reclaimed Camaro seat from Pic-A-Part ($20)
Lightweight Steel&Plastic table for TV and PS4,PS3
Less than $65 in entire setup (excluding T300 and Pedals)

Got a Thrustmaster T300 RS, T3PA Pro pedals with added load cell and the TH8A shifter. All mounted to a GT Omega Pro stand with chair bolted directly into the frame. Got it positioned at desk with TV on said desk.

T300RS PRO gt edition here. I built that rig in 2005 using only Ikea items and carriage bolts. In its life, this rig has seen two driving force pro and four DFGT. I was drifting a lot during GT4 days. I gained a bit of weight with time and one tube recently broke just where I sit. After 13 years, maybe it is time to invest in a new poang. The driving position is perfect for me. I use heavy duty velcro to hold the pedals on the mat and M6 screws to hold the wheelbase. I even build one similar rig for my son with those same Ikea chairs but made smaller for kids. We cannot afford two wheels so we transfer mine on his rig when he plays. I am waiting for the t150s to price drop. There might be some deals this fall.

Argh I want a T-GT so bad!!! Arghh I want a McLaren GT3 wheel base so bad!! :banghead:

I got my T-GT from ebay, it was almost new, look there if you are seriously thinking about it.
Its a day and night difference to G29 from the feeling, because I had it also before.
But unfortunately it does NOT make you faster, so my advice is, buy it only if you are sure you play GTS a long time and also if its important to yo having more fun by feeling car & track better

Alpha, I did the same, just put my wheel at my computer desktop :)

Bad image and an old one, no longer use the cushion on the seat, anyways,
Logitech G29
Open Wheeler Cockpit
Ignition Controls Button Box (not compatible with GTS :( )
For the sims that use them I have 2 tablets showing my hud and tyre wear, temperatures etc. very helpful for long races.

Well, I don't have a lot of space at home at the moment for a good fixed rig right now ...

I started with a T150 and standard pedals mounted on a custom wheel stand I've made recycling an old Abb table..
The result was quite stable but not really practical to storeup after playing..

Now I've upgraded to a T3PA pedal set and went for a playseat challenge recommended by some friends, really like the seat, confortable, solid, good quality and materials and fast to fold and storeup after playing.
The TV is a Samsung Smart TV 32' together with the Standard PS4.

Next upgrade will be the TH8A Shifter with the Rimotech short shift mod add-on.

So doesn't everyone start in a ikea something or another. Then this usually happens.
Side note, if u do this, get the evo 2 or evo 3 bigher boy cushions, i got the evo 1 from jegs and it was a lil small, also expensive, i launched it all for an incoming fanatec shifter. Same price and ill be more comfortable jamming gears in vgta on project cars 2 !

I use my kids version of that chair and a coffee table. Its so small it comes with me when I stand up and I have to push it back off my fat arse.

I went straight to the playseat challenge, although like yourself I've upgraded a few times

I've only got a T-80. But my table + computer shelf from another unit works really well.

I've got a comfy seat. A place to put my coffee. And cats who like sitting on the mat watching while I drive. :)

You built that? Nice. Not bad for a Packers fan...LOL

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:
That tells me of two things, you are a bears or Vikings fan???
One thing us Wisconsinites learn real fast is that its always windy in WI because Chicago blows and Minnesota sucks.:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Interesting! I’m still using a PS controller and seriously considering a G29 or T300 (different discussion there but most likely the latter) but play on the family TV. No spare room and putting a recycled car seat on rusty steel rails in the middle of the family room would not go down well. I’m trying to justify a PlaySeat Challenge because it’s neat and packs away. Realistically how easy & neat doesn’t it fold?

It folds preeeeetty easily. They supply velcro straps to keep it closed. It's pretty heavy with the wheel and pedals all still attached but folds enough to fit easily in a closet.

Cool! I’m trying to picture myself trying not to wake the family folding it up at 1 in the morn after a few laps and a few beers to wash them down...tripping over some cables, dropping it on my toes and getting the Velcro stuck to my socks.

I have yet to do that with my challenge, and my wife is a light sleeper.
