If I recall correctly, a "front clip" is the entire front section of a car that has literally been "clipped" from the rest of the car then sold for parts.
A front clip usually contains the engine, radiator, all the wiring and the transmission.

Depending on where you get them, you also get the dashboard. And on FWD cars, you get the axles too. And, of course, you pay for what you get.
 
a front clip is technically the firewall foreward, and since it's not very easy to cut through all the crap they figure just cut the support struts for the windshield, and the floor
 
hmm. weird coincidence. i was just at that new car store (Super Autobacs). was standing outside with some friends and saw this gunmetal S15 roll up. and behind the S15 is a white R32. when they parked (they were together) we went over and started talking to them. turns out the guy in the S15 owns both of the cars! :banghead: . his name is Franc and he's the CEO of JDM Evolutions.

just thought i'd share :D . and yes, i was drooling the entire time. he even popped the hoods for us to see.
