This was me after crashing while in 3rd with a 20 second lead over 4th with a little under 20 minutes left:
🤬🤬🤬
Oh well, maybe one of these days I’ll actually be consistent and have a clean race. Congrats to the winners. Loved the turnout we had tonight. We had a great mix in the amount of D1 and D2 drivers and having to deal with traffic almost every lap made for some interesting racing and kept you on your toes all race. Hopefully we can do it again next week!
Excuse me, I have taste.
I was putting the pressure on, hoping I could sweat you into a mistake.
To give you some perspective, Gunny goes and says "oh, this is the first time I've had damage all SEASON" (this was about 45 minutes into the race).
Meanwhile, I've pit for damage 3 times already THAT RACE including engine damage that I suffered at the very beginning of the lap (sorry JW).
Turns out I'm fast at Alsace, just couldn't keep it off the wall.
@Herimopp89 Will you have some time tonight to do some testing with me?
I want to make sure whichever cars we pick play nicely in the sandbox.
Thanks @SAMHAIN85. Not sure how to use the “spoiler” function to embed the pics though. Perhaps someone can walk me through that.Awesome pics!
Strategic is how I win though. My optimal lap time until the last stint was about a second off of @Neutty and @Sean Renon. I shoot for consistency and not making mistakes that cost a lot of time.We definitely had a good battle even if though we weren’t bumper to bumper. More of a strategic fight than anything else and it certainty was due to that off at the start of lap two. You really were flying and kept plenty of pace to have a shot which was incredible. The funny thing is that I didn’t feel too pressured for once. I had something like a 22 second lead on you with I think 19 minutes to go and had just put in my fastest lap on fresh tires, so I figured I wouldn’t have too much of a problem staying ahead, although I knew it’d be reallt. I was in a groove but just had a small unexpected hiccup. I guess I can call it progress when my mistake is due to a random error rather than choking like usual
D2 view if anyone is interested:
It looks like the race for the final two Prize A's this season will come down to me, @soundtiger95, and @THRASH. Should be fun!
Oh thank god, at 5:35 in your video I was worried I gave you damage. (I damaged my front wing), I just mistimed a pass because I assumed you'd understeer higher up the track.
Sorry about that... glad it didn't give you damage.
Also, keep in mind that we try and stay as stock as possible - which means leaving the brake balance at 0.
Yeah it's all good. I tried to use the signals when possible to tell you guys where to go if i had the time, or I made it obvious on what side of the track i was going to be on. (I'm used to getting passed by faster cars on track).
On that BB though, why is that if the option is available to everyone? Do controller players not have the ability to change it?
It's because it's technically tuning, and against the normal SNAIL rules.
Oh i see. It looks like a few of these rules are due for a refreshing with the new game I guess. There's no way to account for all of the new features at once. Noted though.
Brake balance has been adjustable in previous games. No need to refresh anything. Adjusting brake balance is tuning and tuning is not allowed. That's the take for Sunday night at least.
right. keeping my opinion to myself.
Just pointing out that allowing additional aids in the lowest division is an exception to that belief (one I'm perfectly happy exists mind you). And in the current game, in some cars people with better racing hardware have an advantage (using an h-shifter with clutch). Now I would never ask they we try to ban the use of h-shifters, and honestly how could we, but there are existing edge cases which creates potential performance differences using something that isn't directly tied to driver skill. Part of driver skill is the ability to manage your car mid race. Like the Bugatti around Blue Moon, if you were able to conserve your tire usage more than others, you would have an advantage at the end of the race. All I did was state an existing rule that has been around since the beginning of SNAIL across three games. The rule is based on the belief in SNAIL that the only variable should be the driver. It's true spec racing with no performance alterations allowed to the car. Like I said, that's for Sunday night. If another SNAIL series wants to do something different, they are more than welcome to.

I think the real core belief of SNAIL is at the start line, every single driver starts with the exact same car and the exact same opportunities to do well. Part of how well you do is being able to manage your car midrace including tire wear and previously fuel wear. Personally I only adjust brake balance in the game to even out tire wear front to back.
I would put brake balance in with a driver managing his or her car midrace (which is part of driver skill), especially since mid race adjustments to it is a core feature of the current game (where in previous games you had to search in the settings to set it up properly). Now I don't really have a say in the decisions the BoD make, but to dismiss it because you don't want to make exceptions to a rule/belief that already has known exceptions is wrong in my opinion.

I'm glad someone went with 1x Fuel/Tire - should be interesting to see the pit strategies. I'm guessing two stops will be possible?
