I’m gonna be straight up about this particular race coming Tuesday evening. I will be slow, I will be in everyone’s way. My best so far for Sunday’s combo is 2:13, and that’s in daylight conditions. This is not my best track by far, so I will try not to be a hinderance to any of you. I thought about skipping this one all together so the rest of you could have a fairly decent race without having to negotiate by me, but that would put my full time driver status in jeopardy, as I’ve already missed two races this season.
I’ll do what I can to stay out of everyone’s way.

Like Brad said, sticking to your line is the better option, and you also have no obligation to pull over and potentially negatively affect your race just to let someone by. Of course you shouldn't race the faster cars and should make it easier to be passed, but stick to your line and let them make the move. Us guys in D1are the ones passing and are in the faster car so it’s our responsibility to do it cleanly and safely. As much as we’d sometimes like it if the cars got out of the way in the moment, we still can’t just push and bully our way through the field when D2 is having a race of their own.

I don’t know how many people do this, but at La Sarthe I started flashing my lights at the slower cars as I was coming up on them, and I did the same thing at Alsace this past week. Not as a way to say “get out of my way”, but just to let them know I’m coming up so they have time to set their line. Multi class racing is all about communication and being predictable, and there are things the different classes can do to make the race go smoothly for everyone.

Yes, let's do it.

If you're in D2 and you show up on Tuesday without yellow headlights you will be (politely) asked to make the change.

Can someone post the exact steps to change the headlights? I know how to do it when I'm in the livery editor, but I can't remember the sub-menu name "Racing Items" maybe?

It is under racing items, along with things like number plates, banners, and driver names. I believe it’s all the way on the right side of the screen after selecting racong items.

Also the yellow lights are a good idea (even though I'm really picky about the asthetics. @Shotgungho always gives me crap about it)

Idk if it was mentioned but some car classes don't allow it, so as long as we pick Gr. 3 or Gr. 4 for D2 it should work.

Many replies because I'm on the phone sorry.

Please keep doing the flashing. I think it was Sean(?) Who came up behind me pretty fast and I was able to avoid a silly accident because I was about to go into the corner. It's super helpful especially when we're in the middle of fighting for position.

Suggestion:
In your practice, I strongly recommend that everyone run a Custom Race in the Arcade.
Set it up with all the Series specificities for next Tuesday. INCLUDING Heavy Damage.
5-10-15 AI cars and start at the back of the Pack.
It will soon be apparent that even the slightest contact will produce engine damage.
Only Patience in the early laps - particularly T2, Lap 1 - will get us started on a good event. It’s a loooong way back to the Pits from T2.

@Herimopp89 & I are ready to fight the Mountain. Yellow Headlights and all

@BradESPN I see I got "demoted" to unofficial driver. I didn't race because I was sick... I'll be back tomorrow night to see if I can complete a race without @TEX36 lapping me!

Sorry for the "demotion" but I want it to be automatic that if you miss >2 races in a season you have to re-commit to being Official the following season.

Quick poll for potential changes to the practice night format

What would everyone prefer:

A) One 50-minute practice race (i.e. what we do now)
B) One 90-minute practice race (just like Tuesdays)
C) Bunch of 5-6 minute practice races (more practice in traffic, more practice with starts)
This week it would be 3 lap races (~6.5 minutes)
D) A couple 5-6 minute practice races, followed by a 50-minute practice race (best of both worlds?)

I like d but instead of 50 mins maybe 30

You can try a staggered start formation lap, where the slower class starts first and the faster class slows to be one minute behind the slower class. When the slower class starts and the faster class is still on formation for a minute I don't think the slower class will catch back up to them.

Yeah I was thinking it would be good to have the slower cars up front to give D1 practice with safely passing the D2 cars, but in reality the first quarter mile would just be carnage.

Alright, sounds like option C is the most popular.

On a related note, for Tuesday nights, I think we should do as many 1-lap races as we can squeeze in between 8:45 and 9:00 EST. I'm tired of first lap issues ruining races (I've been the culprit and victim, so I'm not pointing fingers).

Sure, I'm willing to give it a shot. If everyone can survive a 3-lap race without damage with that setup we should be proud of ourselves.
Maybe even do like in gt races 20 or 30 second interval just a thought slower cars should be sorted out by the time the others get there and in a 90 min run 30 seconds is not that big of a deal
