SNAIL Holiday Event Discussion

We are approaching the threshold of possible two rooms. History has shown that not everybody that signs up make it to the room on race night. (Traffic, changed plans, other unforeseen circumstances, etc.) I don't want to dilute the experience by having two half full rooms. Part of the experience is to have a good strategy, but also close racing. So, I would like to have the one room at 15-16 people at least. We'll see how the sign-ups go this week before we can rank the players and how we will fill up the first room.

Here is the latest status after today's positive responses. If you are currently "tentative" and you change to "yes", please post it here. You will keep your "Seq" number and move into your appropriate slot

For those who set up practice rooms - We will start at 6:30 am in-game time and run the time progression at 8X. The first lap will have some sun in the eyes on two straight sections and with 8x time progression, it will give the last driver to finish the race at early dusk.

We need more D3/D4 drivers to even the field out. Right now it's 12 against 7.

I like that you thought the time progression through so we get sunrise to sunset. I would have done the exact same thing.

But you said your not racing cause the race is to long. :ill:

I'm not going to make this. Even if I happen to be home, I'm not able to practice this week.
Hopefully we can do another one soon -good luck everyone!

What will happen if a driver is disconnected after starting? Will the room be in practice mode or race mode after qualifying. If someone is disco'd they would only be allowed in again if the room uses practice mode. ???

If you DC after Qually started, consider it an engine failure and have your beer early

Why wouldn't you just wait for people? This is just a fun event for ***** and giggles. What's the rush? (not a comment on last night, just this last post)

The room had 12 in it at start time. Then in no time you could watch the car count drop. What did we finish with? 6?

I see the tire compounds did get changed according to my replay analysis. The leaders managed to one stop the whole 90 minutes. Amazing control! Nice job @Nicktune.

Ok, I am sitting with a bit of a dilemma here. We have more than 16 confirmed, but we know from history that there are always some no-shows for various reasons. Life is sometimes a little unpredictable and we just have to live with it - no hard feelings.

Below is the signups as it stands right now. I used the sequence of signing up and put the first 16 confirmed drivers in Room 1. That leaves only 6 for the second room. If we have no-shows in Room 1, then it would be good to fill it with one of those 6, which means room 2 will suck.

Alternative is to make two rooms with 11 each and leave room for late-late signups, But any no-shows will make both rooms suck.

So, you can help a lot if you can let us know if your circumstances have changed and you can't make it anymore. It will certainly help to decide if we go for one room only and disappoint a few or two rooms and don't have close racing.

It's simple. Start with two rooms and leave lots of time for people to join. Once that window is closed start a 1 lap sprint race to warm everyone up and provide a few more minutes for anyone having issues. If by the end of the sprint race nobody has joined and we have open spots then combine the rooms. If more people join then we have two mostly full rooms. Win win right? And if it stays a 9-12 in each room that's not a small amount either. It's still worth it at that point.

I'll be there. If we have enough people I like this idea, "Alternative is to make two rooms with 11 each and leave room for late-late signups, But any no-shows will make both rooms suck." I think a room would still be good with 9 or 10 people if there are a couple no shows. Most-likely you can decide on the fly how you wish to break things down.
