What cars to run next season

We like SPEC because it makes everything equal for all drivers. Doing this tuning thing is cool because now we are adding the tuning component... Its driver and tuner . The fact we had different cars sort of messed it up a bit. I think for this to be a real driver / tuner series we need to use the same car. I think it would create much closer racing, especially once you get the weight added to the equation.

Using a number of cars really complicates things and in the last couple of seasons there has been 1 car that dominates the field. I really would like to avoid that.

What's so wrong with everyone starting off with the same car?

I have no objection to running a spec tuning series if that's what everyone wants. If that's what you want then vote for option 4 and if it wins that's what we'll run. Your vote does count as long as you vote. Thanks for the feed back.

I would like to move my vote from single make to GT300. I have never really tried GT300 but I have a feeling it will make for close racing.

Consider it changed. I'll give it a few more days and then if nothing else gets more votes we'll start working on getting a few GT300 cars ready.

Well I'm going to consider the voting closed. The cars for season 5 will be GT300 cars. This is the list I found of Premium GT300 cars:
P RE Amemiya AsparaDrink RX7 '06
P Subaru CUSCO DUNLOP SUBARU IMPREZA '08
P Autobacs ARTA Garaiya '08
P Lexus Weds Sport IS350 '08

I'm going to see if I can get all 4 cars equal in the next few days. I'm thinking since Christmas and New Years fall on a Tuesday we'll run a 2 weeks of fun races and start the official season in January. I have some ideas to improve the ballasting even more from last season so stay tuned.

Hopefully the preseason "fun " races are with the GT300 cars in SPEC form. That will give us an idea as to how they compare. Although I am thinking about sitting this one out. Sometimes I only get about an hour of wheel time during the week, and even less time on the weekend. I really need to focus on the Sunday night combos if I'm going to stick with it. I'll see how it goes.

So we are getting together in D2 tonight to do some testing, racing for fun? I can send someone who needs one of these cars for whatever reason.

Sounds good. I'll probably have some specs to try out tonight. We'll run a few tracks.

Why don't we just run them stock and see what happens? Could we run a course that we're not going to run this season, and do the races as usual?

I say try this. I might be able to join you tonight. I'm partial to the Impreza.

I hadn't looked at the cars yet but having done that we might be able to run them without any adjustments as they all have basically the same pp. I'm up for trying it tonight. I'm thinking since we can't paint the cars different colors maybe we go with 4 teams of 4. Any thoughts?

On running a track we aren't running this season only problem with that is we haven't selected any tracks yet otherwise I'm fine with it.

Or eight teams of two, each car getting only two teams. So yes, there are, as you were thinking, four drivers for each car, but there is a little bit of sibling rivalry. So yes, you have the question, which of the four cars is better, and then you have the question of, which team in that car is better.

Yes, this is exactly right! 👍

If we are just doing practice races, do you care if I stop by? I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it all the time but I may be interested if there are some drivers of similar skill level.

I think some tracks to consider are Spa, SS5, Monza no chic, and Nurburg ring. With the 20 min race format I think Nurburg would work quite well.
Weaver of course you can join.

Yes please come race. Anyone is welcome.

I guess I'll be there. Were we using the premium gt300 cars listed earlier?

Yes. I'm hoping to have enough people to run all 4 so we can also see if one needs adjusting for next season. The arta might be quick but we'll see.

Well I just purchased all of them so they will be unbroken and I have no experience driving them so I might not be much help but I will do what I can.

Mine are not broken in either, and they are not as hard to drive as your average snail car, so don't fret.

I find the mid engine Lexus interesting, it should make for a well handling car. I'd like to see it in person.

Sweet, now I can see the look on their face after I brake-check their ass. The world just got a little better...

YES, mid engine Lexus... Look it up.

Last time I let my Co worker book a hotel. Freaken holiday inn express internet sucks. Guess you guys will have to share how equal the cars are unless by some miracle it starts working.

The GT300 cars won't be equal if you simply try running them at around the same PP as-is, they're all unique. If you guys want to cut to the chase I have a set of race-proven specifications you can use. They've been used in over three major series and tweaked and balanced to perfection over time. All you'd have to do is drop the non-premiums and you're ready to race.
