that sucked, it was just getting interesting :(

Yea, team Grayscale definitely stepped up our game tonight. Mr.M didn't provide us a tune so the Dr. and I did some testing right before the race. I'd like to think we came up with a solid car because tirewear really didn't affect my lap times by much.

No car can make up for just how epically bad I am. :(

Vol, that is an unforgiving course. I doubt anyone ran more than a few laps without scrubbing speed somewhere. And it's one where there won't really be packs for very long to compensate. I think focusing more on consistency than fast laps is the key.

I had a blast. Bronco killer tune! One race to conclude the season, lets go RED TEAM!

That tune was all yours :) It worked really well, too. I don't think anyone on track was faster than us through the mid-speed corners. I really enjoyed the first race. I mucked up the second race pretty badly though, or we could have done better :guilty:

That was very exciting racing last night and a lot of fun -with the exception of the start of the second race. Is there really only 1 race left on the schedule :grumpy:?

That's the truth, or should I have said True Dat ...

Had a great time chasing down and getting chased down. This seemed to be a true test of patience, you had to be ready when an opportunity presented itself!

I must extend my apologies to spooble, DrKronin and Oshawa-Joe for the braking zone nudges. I don't think I caused you all to lose much, it annoys me when I do that to someone, I am sorry :ill:

Vol, you're way too hard on yourself. I've said it before and I'll say it again, you're a better driver than you give yourself credit for.

Take care of the bunnies, get a little confidence in yourself and get aggressive in the right places and you're right there.

As esh said, Laguna Seca requires you to be aggressive to be fast, learned that in the second race, sigh. And if you're not close to hitting your marks, well sand pits await.

Anyway, cut yourself some slack and enjoy 👍

Mere love taps! I had zero laps in before qualifying, so I'm sure my conservative braking was to blame. No worries. :)

The trend continues... a Shelby on pole equals victory for team errrmm... the blue duo.

Tonight I'll start another thread for the second season to start generating interest in that. Some rule changes:

Cars will be allowed up to 355 HP and 1300 Kg (unless we have a significant interest, then we will look at two classes).

All drivers will count toward team points. And no ringers, so we will just drop each driver's lowest score, so it won't hurt too much if you miss a night.

We will still do two races a night. Though, damage will be on full next season.

Other things I'm not sure about, feel free to give your ideas in this thread or in the new one:

Should we have to pay for cars? Should we make each team use a different car (shouldn't be that big a problem, since we only had two teams that used the FD this season, everyone else used something else)? Should we draft the car rights? Should we auction car rights? Should we keep teams in tact or do a new draft? Should we auction drivers? Should we keep the teams as they are, but allow tuners to fire drivers to make room for the new draft? And then do free agent drivers? And trades and salary?

Eeep! That is starting to sound like a fantasy football league wrapped into a GT5 league.

I haven't looked at the replays yet, but I'll bet I bumped you at least as many times as you did me :) Whatever bumps you may have done definitely didn't cause me any problems.

I'm going to have to take a look at the replay of the second race when I get a chance, because I may well have spun Joe and one other person in the first lap or two. :yuck:

Since your increasing the Hp and weight Will you be increasing the limits also to 100kg and 94% engine? I would keep the engine at 97% but raise the weight, some cars that race now won't be able to race next year at only 50kg.

As for teams, looking at the points, it looks good to me, keep the top 2 driver rule, i think that is more fair even if we had 3 drivers on every team.

Time to put your recruiting shoes/hat/gloves on in the main SNAIL thread! I would LOVE there being multiple classes. Would you be mixing classes on the same team or would a team have to pick a class? I guess it would depend, as you said, on the interest level first.

  • I would say blow teams up and redraft.
  • Same cars would be allowed for tuner to use if they like but no teams can use the same car. Make decision based on previous seasons performance, ie whichever team ranks higher gets right to car. New to the series you automatically lose out to tenured team. Both new teams default to whoever had lower draft pick.
  • Depending on interest, restrict the number of D1 drivers per team to 1. If you get a lot of interest new lounges may need to be created.
  • Mandatory 3 drivers per team.
  • Vote from predetermined pool of tracks (15?) by all participating drivers to select 4 or 5 tracks.
  • I like full damage.
  • I like all drivers counting.
  • Make mopar fix his inet.
That's about all I've got off the top of my head.

That is a good point. Well, couple of them:

* I had originally limited the ballast to 50 Kg, so we had another 50 Kg to use for "success ballast". But I don't know how well that works. I'm not a consistent enough driver to test it out. So, if you guys want to test success ballast, what sort of ballast system would work? So far, your network issues have been working as success ballast.

* Yes, there are some cars that won't fit next season. But I think all of the cars we have now have counterparts that will fit, if they don't fit outright. And we will have so many more cars that will fit. I think there will be better selections.

I like the idea of two classes with different specifications if we have enough interest, and I think it would be fun to have the teams divided between the divisions. I imagine that suggesting the lower division be an FF division would get me ridiculed, but I think it would be a good test of a tuner to have to work with both drivetrains.

I like esh's ideas and I think we need all drivers points to count, perhaps drop each drivers worst week. All the drivers need something more than denying another team points as motivation. Counting toward your team I think is more gratifying.

I don't mind the idea of different classes, but would if be too much to ask tuners to tune two cars each week?

ahhh, alliteration.

I'll be on the free agency list then :)

Edit: as a substitute/test driver probably since the field is pretty full as it is.

I don't think so. How much tuning has been done on the cars after the initial tune? I'm guessing it's been minor for most teams. Also, I think it will add to the challenge.

I say do this like fantasy football

All current teams are allowed to keep one driver on there team now, Driver-Constructors have to keep themselves
Also, I like the way we pick the schedules now, except allow teams to pick two tracks instead of one next year.

Very true, especially considering all of the new SNAILs who probably don't know much about this series. It also wouldn't hurt for more us us to include a STaTS link in our sigs. 👍

What about having, now this is pie in the sky but humour me, two divisions.

#1 & #2 drivers in D1, #3 & #4 drivers in D2.

Constructor Trophy
Division 1 Trophy
Division 2 Trophy

We could have as many as eight constructors and if a constructor were really ambitious, they could have two teams.

Just a thought.

My only problem with this is reality. This last time we only had two people that were D3. This just hasn't gotten even and balanced attention.

And while I have not done glamorously well this season, I do feel that last night was the first time that I wasn't really racing with everyone else. So even though I'm the slowest one out there, and the last to go in the draft, I didn't feel horribly outmatched until last night.

Mind you, if I were in a different car, I probably would've been miserable all season.

I like having all divisions together and as Vol mentioned there are 7 D1 drivers to 2 D3.

I was thinking along the lines of if we got a whole bunch more S.N.A.I.L.s to join in, that would allow a little closer racing.

But we're not there yet for sure.

I'm all for progress, but wholesale changes and this could become overly complicated being just Season 2. Just my three cents.
