So, about that course creator.

Course maker for 1.19, I doubt ...

PoDi wants to focus on GT Academy... So, I think we will have this feature to update 1.20 at the earliest.

The timing of 1.19 - and the fact it has been scheduled since the start of GT Academy - suggests that it is a GT Academy update only, bringing, probably, the Nissan GT-R LM. Maybe a Vision GT or two (Peugeot, SRT).

I wouldn't expect Course Maker in v1.19 personally.

When you expect course maker ? 1.20 ? :D

I am expecting it 1.20 at the earliest in my opinion.

"CourseMakerGenerateData"

This better not mean what I think it means.... I sincerely hope this is not a generator.

Of course it's a generator. Kaz said, in the dim and distance past, that the course generator would have a more sophisticated algorithm.

The player should be able to create their own tracks with the GPS component. :nervous:

This. It was way back at the Silverstone reveal event Kaz said that players can pick their own routes through pre-made areas (Ronda being the first) and there would be an improved generator algorithm.

Kaz said we might get a pre-made preview of the course maker before the feature itself - this is possibly what Sierra was. And, in that case, Sierra can only be a preview of the generator.

GT Arena is the missing link, however. There isn't really any pre-existing course to "pick" (it's just an empty space), and the generator has nothing to sink its teeth into (too small), so you're left with placing objects like cones and barriers, maybe "checkpoints" (think LFS' "autocross editor").

It might mean that Ronda will work the same way, placing barriers etc. to set a course. Finally, it may mean that we have some freedom in placing "scenery props" on the generator tracks, too. EDIT: the GPS feature will drive the generator - that could be really huge.

I do not know what the version number may be, but I expect the next content update (after 1.19) to have CM.

Some interesting info on NeoGAF from @Whistle Snap :

Some Course Maker bits were added a few updates ago, the guy who made one of the GT save editors says menu graphics / logos are already present.

from the limited stuff that I can see, I spied an option to select source type and a 🤬 load of stuff for some terrain mode/l

These are all the Course Maker references I can see, those GTCourseMaker have lots of different .cxx files:

CourseMakerRoot.adc
CourseMakerRoot.mwidget
CourseMakerInfo
CourseMakerSourceType
GTCourseMakerGenerateData
GTCourseMakerCourseGround
GTCourseMakerTerrainModel
GTCourseMakerRailVisionList
course_maker_collision_block_A
course_maker_collision_block_B

And here's some very interesting stuff here:

Not really. The previous update to v2.00 in GT5 was v1.13 and it was essentially GT5's final form (give or take the Speed Pack and some tweaks and fixes).

It's not that much of a stretch to suggest that when GT6 ticks over from 11 of 12 promised future update features to 12 of 12, it'll be in a similarly "finished" v2.00 form.

Oh I agree, I just find it amusing that people quickly react to find hidden meaning in such a short post.

I wouldn't call paid DLC a 2.00 feature to be proud of. Just because it's paid doesn't mean that it'll somehow be more or better.
Also, considering the game came out 18 months ago I think the ship has sailed on paid DLC in general. If there were to be any it would have been released within the first 12 months when the largest number of people were still invested in playing the game.

I fully expect any future GT6 content to remain free.

This is interesting because the same Yamauchi said PS3 is not able to show the heat effect which was used in GT3 and GT4 by having a slower memory than PS2.

“I don’t know if anybody remembers, but when the PS2 first came out, the first thing I did on that was a demo for the announcement. I showed a demo of GT3 that showed the Seattle course at sunset with the heat rising off the ground and shimmering. You can’t re-create that heat haze effect on the PS3 because the read-modify-write just isn’t as fast as when we were using the PS2. There are things like that. Another reason is because of the transition to full HD.”

Or indeed programmer logic.

v +0.01 = interim update/bugfix
v +0.10 = feature update
v +1.00 = major update

It's just odd that they didn't go +0.1 for some of the features we've had so far. Still, as I said above, GT5 went from v1.13 to v2.00...
It'll possibly go from 1.19 but again Spec 2.0 came in 2011 which is a year after Gt5 got released....lol
