So GT7 is now really on its way, when and what can we expect?

What is your definition of 'finished'? What has to be added to GT6 to make it a finished product?

Anything that isn't GT6 that's my definition of a finished game. Seriously GT6 is in that area of what makes DLC horrendously bad. You keep updating with different things instead of bringing them out Day 1 you never know if you want to call it finished or not especially since your first experience with "new game" is already gone.

Hope whatever they do they release a demo. Dont want the Drive Club incident coming on GT7.
And for me a finished game is like GT5, Shift 2...a game where you wont see anything new coming. When GT6 gets no more support its finished. But if its a "happy ever after" finished is another thing.

CM and the GPS app for the course maker. The two biggest features of GT6 that were so close to completion, Kaz suggested they might even make it in the initial release of the game or shortly after. 15 months later....
Hopefully they're added soon. Seems Kaz bit off a bit more than he could chew.

They've done that for the last 5 years now. They're still missing basics features that some racing games had down since beginning of PS2 life cycle lol. Just those said games didn't have the graphics that GT(at the time) had with it.

You're not happy they got rid of the XP system and introduced the "stars"? C'mon..don't you remember when you were a little kid in Grade 1 and you did something the teacher liked you got a gold star?:lol:
I think the star system is infinitely much better than gt5s exp crap.

Anyway what I expect for gt7: stable 60 fps 1920x1080, everything that is in 5 and 6, a handful new tracks, a few more cars. A few more events.

What I hope for: more varied career mode, with more rally and rallycross. More events that require different cars. More events with lower performing cars but still more difficult racing. Fewer cars but better variety, and all premium. Better tuning options, tires that are close to what old cars used when they were new. Better damage, race-ending damage. Ability to combine any options and mechanics on any track with any vehicle when starting custom races, both offline and online. Ability to use any configuration of tracks where all necessary areas are in the game, for example suzuka west.

I can't believe how many of these posts are NOT about physics or engine sounds...

How many among you have actually pushed really fast cars on tarmac?

Or are you willing to just take in the next GT game as is, with mind-numbing visuals and a flat driving model + makeshift engine sounds?

Well i think sound will be there, cant be worse than Driveclub.
Hopefully they will focus on physics too and not just on concept cars.

EDIT
With regard of electricpowered cars i guess sound will be even more important to get right.
Cars like Tesla, Audi r8, bmw i8 should be included and all other hybrids and pure battery that will come during gt7 lifespan (Honda NSX, Regera and so on)

Timeout! I thought GT6 had the best physics now? Of all things that's the one thing it did correctly.

Honestly speaking I can wait for a better model in GT8 look nothing against what you're saying, but give us the core game fixed up first.

A.I and Livery Editor plus Damage are way atop my list that and complete overhaul of Career mode. I'm not worried about Online mode cause that's an afterthought for me(I know not for others), but get the part of the game before online became a big deal correct.

Even the engine sound I can take that if better Damage Model especially one like Porsche Unleashed on PC was in place by in far it would make even regular races more difficult out of the start especially if you have to worry about engine issues/tire blowout etc.

Scrap the standards too those four things standards scraping + A.I overhaul + Livery Editor + Damage Model + Overhaul career mode would at least get the game some where. Maybe not for the hardhcore fans, but at least it would get them back to being relevant in my mind.

IF big if they decided to add a "real" penalty system + grid starts + real length races etc. We'd even be talking some serious recognition sadly I don't expect any at this point.

Best physics on the PS3. How many other sims are on the PS3? :sly: They still have a long, long way to go to measure up against some of the PC sims IMO. Project Cars will raise the bar extremely high on PS4 when it's released. PD is not even in that conversation yet.

I just want people to make up their minds I had my gripes with GT, but one thing everyone did agree with was the physics and a few other elements, but make up your mind.

That the physics were broken? I would agree with that. Realistic? No. They would need a decent tyre model for that. It would also help if their suspension model wasn't completely backwards from reality, or if the aero made any sense at all :lol:.

I certainly don't remember everyone agreeing gt6 had realistic physics.

Welp I'm done cause every time someone tries to defend how GT is currently Physics has been the #1 thing brought up maybe people have just forgotten. I know GT6 at least in my opinion is horrendous, but from searching these forums that was one of the last things people would say that needed changing. Maybe I'm wrong, and it's highly possible I am.

I've never said anything different than GT has the best physics on console, but it's also like being the biggest fish in a little pond. They are good enough to make driving convincing but not on the level of current sims like AC, Project Cars and others. As @Mike_grpA points out there are issues with the tire model, suspension and aero but also with ABS and braking in general, weight transfer, transmissions etc. But it's not a stretch to say they are good enough for the vast majority of players who wouldn't know the difference anyway. It's not a good/bad perfect/horrendous comparison, it's more of a sliding scale.

@Zuku
@Johnnypenso
@Mike_grpA

Improved damaged modelling? Oh heck yes! About dayem time. Standards and premiums.. that's just silly. Give equal attention to ALL cars.
Realistic physics? No. On the PS3, most realistic? Yes. But in terms of physics and sounds, they really haven't taken major strides the way some PC sims have, or Forza for instance.

Now I'm not an ambassador for either developer, but like all of you, at the end of the day since I can't just get up and head to an actual track with a high powered car, the next best thing is a realistic and unique driving experience on consoles.

Johnny's right, the bar has been set so high, PD is not even in that conversation at the moment, unfortunately.

So as far as authentic driving goes, I'd put PC sims on top, followed by Forza, and last, GT.

I really hope to see PD bring back nostalgia from the good ol' days. And I'm positive Kaz will one day wake up from his dream/delusion/denial and actually start making improvements to GT's core driving model and audio environment, rather than continuing to cram marketing gimmickry down fans' throats.

Any gamer or even car lover/motor sport enthusiast with a little bit of track or high-speed driving experience has the common sense (not offending anybody here or taking shots) to understand and acknowledge that GT is not a simulator, neither does it have very realistic physics - rather, it's a game that takes a stab at realistic driving while awing audiences with killer visuals and marketing collateral to boot.

And I'd like to see that change. I'd like to see PD make consistent changes to the core gameplay the way T10 has. I switched to Forza for a GOOD reason. And I'd gladly switch back to GT, ONLY and only if it goes back to its roots and makes the experience unique.

More of everything doesn't cut it anymore. Kaz, please consider quality over quantity this time.

Gracias!

Well the horrendous part is more how I feel about the game overall, but I guess this doesn't just apply to you, but the way opinions were expressed on the forums since the release of GT6 indicated to me it had great physics, but again I could have been wrong.

@Speedster911 You know this argument about quality over quantity I'll be agreeing with if you've noticed since I've been on like this past year maybe back in July I've stuck only in this thread the "GT7 threads" majority it's literally like 98%, but the only reason is that I'm holding out hope that GT becomes somewhat good again.

In the mean time I've put into newer games (some old, but feel newer than GT does) At some point if I can get a great gaming laptop I might have to buy AC I'm not into how Project Cars is doing their thing, but I'll wait and see on some reviews of that game.

Some people do think the physics are great and when you point out the flaws they just can't see them or won't discuss them and sometimes they try to prove to you that obvious flaws are actually the way things work in real life. The usual answer is along the lines of "no game is perfect, unless you want to spend $1Million on an F1 simulator", which infers that everything less than that is somehow equal, which isn't the case.

But for most people the physics are good enough and that's all that matters. Most GT players are very casual players, the hardcore element is very tiny, mostly limited to a handful of people who frequent these forums. As you point out the real weakness is in the gameplay, the offline career, the AI etc. I found Grid Autosport to be a fantastically engaging game, and I played more of the offline career in GAS in a couple of months, than I did in all of GT5 and GT6 combined. Yet the physics were simcade and nowhere close to GT. The racing was challenging, victory was difficult when you turned the difficulty up and the AI was very competitive. It doesn't take great physics to make a game great it's everything around the physics that make a game great, and that's what's missing from GT IMO. I think most of us agree on that.

@Zuku

Hmm, I'm not sure how powerful these gaming laptops are to run AC or say, PCARS on maxed out settings. A beefy desktop PC is your best bet.

I'm not a graphics 🤬 if you know what I mean as long as it doesn't look like 🤬 I'll play it and be happy I can only go up to semi-medium settings with the current laptop I have, and all it has is freakin 512 MB graphics card. an AMD Radeon 7660G from 2012 lol

I can play Grid Autosport enough to enjoy it for what it is.

There are laptops that can perform pretty good I'm shooting for an Asus, but I also know I'll need a desktop one day regardless.

How about tracks? I feel PD are strong here and half the game is about getting them correct too.

You're right the only problem with the tracks is quality of them, but also the diversity like The Nurburg I look at it as a track where you're driving in the country "getting away from it all" I know it's not really like that, but then you've got Cape Ring where I have no clue what to make of it.

They don't even have to make new tracks yet heck just give back all the city/fantasy tracks people have been asking for and boom that solves that problem.

New York, SSR11, Hong Kong, Citta da Aria(have no idea how to spell it lol) Costa da Amafli(again lol), Seattle, Las Vegas(actual course plus drag strip), Paris tracks, and Seoul Central

Just bringing those back, and I know just said City tracks, but that's about 10 tracks coming back throw in El Captian, and bring back majority of Rallying Tracks it's on like Donkey Kong(don't ask).

I'm worried the FIA partnership is going to move the game in the direction of "Tilkedromes", and that most or all of the new tracks will be boring, FIA sanctioned, modern tracks, flat as a pancake, with no character and no soul to them at all. PD can somewhat counter that by creating their own new tracks and refurbishing old favourites to includes these elements in them and appears to have taken this into consideration somewhat with Mid-field. I'd also like to see the inclusion of vintage tracks, older tracks recreated from photos and on board footage.

I've done exactly that for a while, played gt only online in a series, and got my offline racing fix with Grid Autosport and F1 2014, and 2013 before that. Those codies games, while having a lot of their own flaws, are good at recreating the feel of a race weekend. Whereas gt ignores racing and immersion altogether. They need to address that in gt7 or I can see a lot of big gt fans moving on. I used to be a massive gt fan, along with a lot of my friends. I only have two friends that even own gt6 now, and neither of them play it much, or think too highly of it.

The closest thing I've seen to an agreement is that GT6 has the best "console" physics, but we've only seen one attempt at a sim on the current (ps4xb1) gen so far, so that's not much to go by. pcars will probably set the new benchmark for console physics when it gets released, though, but that's still a few days away :P.

I've said this before and I'm sure you'd agree. GT physics + Grid AI and atmosphere + Forza sounds and customization = great console racer.

To be honest I'm just expecting an evolution of what Gran Turismo 6 is. Hopefully it won't be a long wait. I just jinxed it by saying that.

Well i dont mind FIA tracks if they include more of racingregulations and qualification. They can do more F1 and GT cars to race those tracks. And of course, more vintage tracks are welcome too
