So GT7 is now really on its way, when and what can we expect?

I honestly don't get why some people want an open world, it just drives me nuts :/

I had 2 must have tracks in my mind for GT6, which were Apricot Hill and Midfield Raceway... Apricot turned out fantastic, it is now my favorite fantasy track in GT6, it's not like GT5's fantasy "standart" tracks, they gave it a whole new rebirth... I hope they do the same with Midfield... I would like them to bring back the grunderwalt or whatever the hell it is called

City courses and Rally Tracks should be returning too, I miss the fun of Seattle and Route 11 (weren't these 2 scheduled for GT6? They both have Easter eggs in GT5), or the Tahiti tracks and hill-climb races
midfield raceway was one of my absolute favorites. i hope they bring it back.

What we do know about Gran Turismo 7 right now:

Standards will be in the game (hopefully they're all 'semi-premiums')
Improved AI
It's will be for the PS4
Better car sounds
We have to wait and see, if we get better car sounds and more importantly if every car has better car sounds. Standard cars won't have improved car sounds in my opinion.

@Zelalem Right..but who's going to tell or explain that to Kaz? Or the millions of fans who don't mind inaccurate sounds, cosmetic detail or handling? To them, sheer numbers is everything.

This whole deal with standards and premium is a dangerous gamble. Why not give the royal treatment to ALL your tracks and cars in the game? Baffles me, seriously.

1. Stupid, worthless PS2 standard cars.
2. Still a 16 car grid.
3. No endurance races.
4. No safety car.
5. Still unrealistic single file rolling starts for nearly every race.
6. 100 more Nissans/Asian cars.
7. Kaz giving stupid excuses saying that there isn't enough power in the ps4.
8. 75% of the game being released through updates that will take over a year.
9. A late 2015 or 2016 release date.
Oh, I almost forgot:
10. Still Dyson vacuum cleaners being used for engine sounds.

GT7 will be a joke compared to Project Cars.

PCARS is looking to be a very serious contender. With just 70 cars and a crapload of tracks, I think it may very well blow away ALL console sims.. CLEAN out of the water!

You guys must have seen the Gamescon 2014 vid too I'm assuming.
I agree the game will be magnificent, being developed side by side with community input has to pay big dividends and I'm sure it will. But the low car selection alone will turn off many GT fans, the casual ones especially. When you're used to 1000+ cars, and bellyaching about losing 800 ten year old car models, how receptive do you think you'll be to 70 cars in the entire game?

I really don't care much for that... looks like it's going to nail the driving aspect almost 100%... and that's what's going to win over pure simmers.

Besides, I don't believe PCARS is aimed at the car collecting crowd anyhow.

Also I think it's a very good strategy; start small to see how it is received and work your way from there. Who knows probably, by next year they might start working on a sequel.

I agree, if you get the actual core of the game (physics, AI, events) correct, you can always add more cars as they are modeled later.

But no amount of cars, will make a terrible racing game less terrible (in my opinion anyway).

I just hope PCARS is accessible like GT is although I have my distaste for GT6 and GT5 I can't lie and say they weren't accessible to even the newest of newcomers.

I say that cause I'm not a hardcore racer like most on here, but I do agree need Events, A.I, Physics, and just regular qualifying plus an environment it might be a video game you go 100-250mph in, but you still need environments as much as people don't want to admit they pay attention to the environment you need them. Heck that's why certain old tracks still around to this day Tokyo Route 246 just to name one.

As @Speedster911 says, PCars will have the usual stability/traction/steering etc. assists that most racers have if that's what you are referring to by "accessibility". It's meant to be a sim at it's core when you take off all the assists so one can play the game with whatever level of difficulty they choose, from car control to opponents. To be honest, I think most GT fans will be completely overwhelmed at first with the number of options available in the game. I'm Mr. Options myself, and even I have been a bit overwhelmed when watching YouTube videos of the menus:drool::eek::eek:

My best bet would be late 2015 - early 2016. I really hope they do take their time on this one and create a game that can show off the capabilities of a true next gen game

Regarding next gen capabilities i think gt8 will show them. I believe its to early for all to really exploit all of ps4 capabilities just yet. I think Sony will also improve stuff on ps4 to allow even better games in the future.
Also the free multiplayer even if you dont have the game is interresting especially games
like GT just get invited and play. I think this is really exciting what Sony is doing now.

Usually the trend is that the odd GT showcases the next-gen capabilities, and the even GT pushes the hardware capabilities to the absolute limit.
Sony will want a game to show off the capabilities of next-gen as soon as possible, and that answer could be in the form of GT7-of course, it will all come down to what extent better graphics (and vehicle damage) means (as Kazunori recently mentioned)...

For me graphics is just a sidenote, i know they will be good.
What they need to show and really really make it work is a total package as a full game with graphics, sound, physics, multiplayer and a great offline experience too.
If they use next gen to do a complete game and not just show off graphics then i will be pleased how they use the resources. And hopefully with the keeping of standards Kaz is thinking the same too :)

My thoughts exactly 👍
Kazunori has spoken ad nauseam about the limitations of the PS3 and the advantages of the PS4. Hopefully the GT titles on PS4 can provide what was missing from the GT titles on PS3...
Also, I may have carried on about the graphics part a bit too much before. It will be a big factor for this game (like all GT's past and present), and hopefully PD focuses and prioritises on the more necessary and expected graphical improvements (i.e. time/weather on all tracks, better vehicle damage and most importantly significantly better quality standard cars) before focusing on achieving ultra-realism
And what you said about multiplayer and offline racing isI absolutely agree with GT7 NEEDS more races (at the very least more than GT5 and 6 combined, which amounts to about 350-odd races) and a more flexible offline mode

I honestly do not think the PS3 was to blame. It was a reasonably powerful console in its time. What I do know is a mixture of certain things that prevented GT from realizing it's full potential. Largely graphics, tipping the scale heavily before anything else.

If anything, they should "attack" sounds and physics first, then focus on perfecting the visual appeal. I brand new Ferrari can only look good for so long just parked in your drive way. It's not until you drive it, hear it and feel it, that you realize how much emotional joy it brings the driver.

GT can benefit greatly from this philosophy - give everything to the gamer in perfect balance and harmony. Can you just imagine what milestones they can achieve just by bringing up the sound to match the graphics, for example?

So true, you can't appreciate how immersive great sound and much better FFB is until you've experienced it. It's hard to go back after that:crazy:

The PS3 had limitations that's for sure but so does the new console. Driveclub is going to do some wonderul things visually, but can only do them at 30fps, not the standard 60fps we have come to expect. The PS3 also didn't force them to have a lame career mode nor the lamest AI on console that was a design choice on PD's part, nor the absence of features like an Event Creator, which was actually in the game just hidden or a Season Creator or Championship Creator.

@Johnnypenso Right, on point. Absolutely.

A little innovation is all it takes to dream up big things and make them a reality.

Gosh, I feel lucky today being a gamer and all, being able to experience console sims like FM4. It still feels as fresh and polished as it did back in 2011. It honestly makes me want to burn and discard my copy of D3, S2 and GA.

I too was sour to know the game is running at 30 fps. That goes to show physics is not a priority for them ATM. Believable, responsive physics need to be running at 60 fps or higher, that goes without saying. I would rush out to buy a high-end gaming PC only if I could.. just to experience games at 60+ fps. That's almost a luxury. It makes the experience better in so many ways.

30 fps Dirt 3 makes my eyes half bleed after just 30 to 40 mins of play. Forza driving of over 2 hours has no effect whatsoever in terms of eye strain or fatigue. Sore thumb and right trigger finger does not count! :D

60 fps brings a host of advantages. Devs probably know this, but I just wish graphics would stop being top priority with most games. The fact that consoles may struggle to run some games yet again at 60 fps locked another generation, is a bit embarassing so to speak. It's 2014.. over 2 decades after the PS1 was launched. You think by now ALL games would be running at 60 fps without hiccups.

Hopefully PD can do 1080p @ 60fps and if they do, it would be among the few games that are 1080p @ 60fps.

It would be super that they do, but it shouldn't be the highest priority if you know what I mean. ;)
Bet on it, they won't be going backwards from the PS3. 1080/60 will be the holy grail for PD on PS4.

Talking about GT7 really gets me, mainly because of "maybe 2015" and "standards are here to stay" from Kaz's mouth.
IT'S NOT COMING in 2015. No. Freaking. Way. GT3 was delayed how long? GT4 was delayed how long?? GT5 was delayed how long???? Even if GT7 is hi-res GT6 on a new console, I still think realistically holiday 2016 is when the game could feasibly launch. If I'm wrong, then yeah, that's actually awesome, but PDI's paymaster Sony would want to push DriveClub as hard as they can in 2015 with dlcs and what nots and me thinks having to plug GT7 at a similar time period would detract unfairly from Evolution Studio's game.
After a lot of flak from fans and gaming press for lackluster GT5's and GT6's overall quality it saddens me to see PDI sort of backed up against the wall. PDI won't have time, personnel, or budget to convert every PS2-era models to semi-Premium. Even Turn 10, with a workforce nearly three times that of PDI, needs to outsource a few of car modelling...and they still have to bring back many cars from FM4.
Standard cars are coming simply because PDI don't have much of a choice....having "1000+ cars!" and "1200+ cars!!" as their main marketing campaign push, now they can't go back to more modest numbers without getting bad perception from general, casual gaming public, and Sony brass.
I can already imagine trolls from both side of "console war" going ape**** on comment sections on various gaming/tech websites...at least that would be hilarious to watch from sidelines..

I really love drifting, and also I am an artist so I'm very creative, and love seeing the decals/sponsors on the cars. I'm really hoping that this kind of customization is added to GT7. Anybody else hoping for that, or think it may be a possibility?

Personally, I'm just bored with the bland cars, especially with how much you can do to a car in real life.
