So Kaz, How are you going to convince the masses to purchase GT7?

Frankly, I don't think it even matters at this point. This whole Q&A thing has fell flat on its face. Even Jordan said as much.

Link please??

When will Jim stop attacking every poster like a freaking knight in shiny armor to defend his beloved?

I also like how you're getting all offended as well, I mean "crappy"? So out of character huh? Not like Kaz will read this anyway so calm down.

Lmfao! Toko you sonovabitch! I just fell off the couch !

So you're here to talk about your favourite game but your entire post is a rant complaining about people complaining about the game?
You and Tornado do have a point. I will leave you to your complaining thread. I just get so frustrated on here when I hear so much negativity and when I try and comment on one of the main articles, somebody calls me either a fanboy or blind or whatever. So I feel the need to talk back. But, as I said I was wrong because this is your thread to rant.

I don't think questions like this are likely to spill the beans... patience is required here.

GT6 hasn't been out long, nor has the PS4. You can't expect PD to start unveiling everything instantaneously. None of us know what it's like behind the curtain. I'm sure Kaz is just as ambitious to get GT7 right as all of us. There's still a lot of work to be done. When the time comes, we will know.

We've had patience for the past 10 going on 11 months now... a year old game isn't exactly "New".

I mean really... the games been out for nearly a year... and we're still missing core features like OFFLINE arcade endurance race settings ( Tired wear, Fuel Consumption, vehicle damage...) That's a pretty big STANDARD feature which was grossly omitted. Now we move onto B-spec, Course Creator, Online community Features the list goes on and on.

KAZ is to busy pretending to be a race car driver, and to busy diddling with his "VISION" to deliver a quality product... You ever hear the phrase, A Bad craftsman blames his tools... Well thats EXACTLY what kaz has done.. he blamed the Console as the problem... no its not the console, the console is fine... its KAZ that is the problem.

So in summary..

I Will not purchase another GT product.. Best way to vote your displeasure in a product and company, is vote with your wallet. and that is exactly what i intend to do.. I dont care if KAZ Blows the top off the simulation world with GT7.. I wont support his lavish make believe race car driver lifestyle.

KAZ has effectively shot himself in the foot on this one. Nobody to blame but himself...

Like I said... we don't know what it's like behind the curtain. Kaz would have added the features we wanted into GT6, had the console had enough memory to do it. As unpolished as GT6 is, it still pushes the console to the very limit of its capability. The countless bugs and lack of content in GT6 aren't there because of laziness, they're there because they simply cannot go any further with the console, nor can they work at the pace we want them to. The outdated tech on the PS3 is most likely the reason why these updates are taking a long time to come out. Trying to update something based on 7 year old hardware is obviously going to be difficult in comparison to a next gen console.

Yes, GT6 was disappointing, but for me at least, it's the only time the series has failed to deliver. I'll start losing hope if GT7 isn't what we want it to be. Until such an event happens, I'm keeping my options open thank you very much.

I was going to write a very long winded retort.. but it boils down to KAZ knew full well the limitations of the PS3 at the time GT6 was being developed. He Promised the world, delivered a turd with sprinkles and glitter.... And he forgot to include the Sprinkles and Glitter.

Hence why I'm keen to see what PD do with the PS4... the boundaries have been moved up. The developers now have some breathing space and they should in theory deliver what we want.

The other half of this is Sony's demands. They are a failing company, and they saw/see a goldmine in GT. So, they pushed (probably without TOO much objection on Kaz's part) for a final version. Then, it HAD to come out before the PS4....

I think there is a LOT going on behind the curtain that isn't ALL Kaz/PD's fault.

Mind you, I'm not saying I don't condemn PD/Kaz for building this game and not getting it to us, but I think they had some impetus to do what has happened.

I just hope GT6 2.0 is coming before the end of the year.

A fact always missed. This is never mentioned when reasoning about the GT series.

That is a very good point about Sony. In reading these threads about GT6 I began to wonder why it was made especially when Kaz talks about what he couldn't do and the limitations of the console. Sony pushing from behind is a valid point.
I am deeply disappointed with this game and 50/50 whether to play it again no matter what PD or Kaz come up with.

That's why I'm really looking forward to Pcars, Nobody with a gun to their head saying RELEASE OR ELSE. Even with this recent delay.. They provided a good apology, and reasoning behind what happened..

More for 1 single delay then KAZ and his PR machine has done for the life of GT6 heh. ( Soon(tm) bandwagon )

If anything Sony would have pushed for at least a GT6 Prologue on the PS4 to drive the new system's sales even higher. I would have never bought an Xbone had they released it for the PS4 nearly a year ago, in fact I would have bought a new wheel for the PS4 as well. I think PD just didn't want to go head to head with Forza 5. Imagine how it would have fared with its crappy A.I., weak racing and terrible sounds compared to Forza's drivatar technology, immersive sounds, etc.

How are you going to prove that GT7 will not just be another GT5/6 fiasco?

No more empty promises about how much the PS4 is going to change GT, no more 'in a future update', no more 'its possible', no more 'its hardware limitations that prevent us from doing that', no more 'soon'.

What concrete PROOF do you have that GT7 is going to be leagues above the rest of the console sims (like GT used to be) enough so that we would be more than willing to drop our hard earned on it?

What features are going to be on the DISC AT LAUNCH that will set it aside from GT5 and 6?

Cheers.

I can answer this question for you/him. He can accomplish this by simply doing instead of blowing smoke up everyone's ass. In my opinion, his actions will be what draws fans back, or even gets new ones, to the game. I mean, he can go on and on all he wants about how good the game will be, what features will be in it, or any other improvements, but until I actually see these things in the game, its all just a bunch of hype and I myself don't ride that train. I will not buy the game sight unseen like I have with the previous titles. I will wait until after its released and after I see what its all about before I make my purchasing decision this time. The proof will be in the pudding, as they say.

Why don't you go try making your own driving simulator game and see how hard it is?

Rilly? You must be joking. This is why we pay others to produce the software. (and indeed, on a personal level, that's why I'm paid to produce software for my clients, because they can't or won't produce it themselves but will pay me to produce it for them)

However, just because we didn't code the program doesn't mean we have no right complain when the company producing said software fails to deliver on its promises. (any more than my *customers not being able to complain when mine breaks or fails to live up to its promise)

Well it must be easy to sit behind a computer and write paragraphs about why this game is bad and complain. I don't understand why so many people come here to complain. Yes promises may have been broken but who cares its a game you bought it and played just like me and many others. Life move s on we don't need to sit here whining for the next year about it just to make you or someone else feel better. If you don't like it don't play it simple as that.

Ever try posting a complaint to PDI directly. Oh snap, you can't
Ever try complaining at the official GT site? Oh snap. You can't.
Ever try posting a complaint to the official Sony GT forum? Oh snap, you can, but you will likely be mauled by the fanboi army that thinks it owns the forum.

At least here, there are enough sound minded people that one can complain.

And frankly, in absence of actual action or response by SonyPDI on the vast majority of complaints that trickle into them, that's about as much gratification as we-who-pay-their-bills get.

Personally, I'd prefer not to have to complain about their partially-released title, but that particular factor is out of my control and SonyPDI apparently don't feel that it enters their own accounting (foolish thinking)

You guys seem to think this is a matter of the kindly lordling and what he gifts the peasants, or that time is irrelevant.

Sorry chum. this is business. We paid for a product. We didn't get this as a freebie. And like other things, we don't ascribe value after reception by anecdote from 'aligned' fans, but by how it conforms to its product features list and performance. One can subjectively decide that a missing feature is "irrelevant" but that is subjective, not objective. And obectively, there are many missing, paid features in GT6, making such a stance in argument worthless.

Further, with software cycles being what they are, one year is no candidate for the character "hasn't been out long" by any modern measure (it's not the almost unchanging middle ages when one could meet a dying grandfather who was born into the almost identical world in which you will eventually die) , At best it's about 1/3 of the product lifecycle. In human terms, that's you in your mid-to-late 20s or even 30s)

So the hospital makes a mistake during your delivery (when you're born), and the court awards you damages. However, the court makes an agreement with the hospital that says(due to a patiently introduced set of minor precedences for what has now become routine delivery mistakes), "we'll pay you when we want, and you must wait until you are at least well into adulthood before we'll pay you the lump sum of our debt."

So you buy a new car. You immediately notice that the trunk lid is missing, the windows don't work, the paint job is peeling, the transmission won't shift into reverse, and the steering wheel is loose...

Lol what. Have you read the thread? Where I've also explained the faults in the game. We can complain as much as we like but pd will never change but just enjoy what you got while you've got it because one day it will all be gone. I'm holding my breath for gt7 and hope it will be good. But as gamers people complain about anything no one is ever happy if you like it then buy it if you don't don't.

So by your logic then, it's perfectly acceptable for those features to drop say next September, and have GT7 launch in December with support for GT6 gone at that time beyond minor patches? I can't see many people being happy with that.
Having a next gen Gran Turismo game with
  • Proper shadows, and better graphics all around
  • Night lighting with many more light sources
  • Better physics
  • Better damage
  • Better Bot A.I.
  • More cars on track
  • The potential for many more features, such as we're asking here
Yeah, I'd be a really sad camper. :D

And before you begin the usual "You don't know the future/have no idea" tirade, let me remind you of the jump in quality we saw in GT5 Prologue over GT4.
  • HD quality graphics versus NTSD
  • Lifelike graphics in replays versus the video look of GT3 and 4
  • Physics approaching that of a PC sim
  • Cars defined with vastly more polygons
  • Environments defined with multiple millions more polygons, and vastly improved textures and effects
  • Races held with almost 2.5 times the number of cars
And there's more, but I'm sure you get the idea.

Listen, GT Planeteers. As much as I like GT6, which is my favorite racer right now, it's running on hardware that's seriously old tech, designed in 2005, built in 2006. If your gaming PC is that old, I'll have to see this strange sight. I am SO ready for a next gen Gran Turismo to see what can really be done by Kaz and the team, instead of this marginal bump with GT6. Assetto Corsa is a nice sim, but... well, it's a sim, the usual dry n technical deal, it's not nearly the same thing. Other than perpetual vaporware P CARS, I couldn't be bothered.

Kaz has spoiled me with the ability to own these cars, open the hood and tinker with them. The only game like it is Forza, it's a "me too!", and right now that credit card slot in the game doesn't impress me, along with those cars held back you have to buy to enjoy. Most of which are in F4 right now, and not getting an XBone any time soon, so why bother?

So... gonna enjoy what I have and wait on GT7. And to the OP's question, all SONY has to do is release it and people will buy it. Simple as.

This incessant complaining is a choice you have made. It's a logical fallacy to suggest it's beyond your control.

Tl;dr. So are you saying we should ignore the as yet undelivered promises of GT6 and just be happy Kaz is working on GT7? Or what?

BTW, the "perpetual vapourware" you refer to has been in development less than half the time of GT5 and was started two years after GT5 released. If it gets released in March it'll be less development time than GT6, and we're talking about an entire game from scratch, not a copy and paste. Do try and research your generalities a bit before posting.

Also, where do I access this "open the hood" mode in GT6, I can't seem to find it in my game? Or are you talking about Forza or DriveClub?

This incessant complaining is a choice you have made. It's a logical fallacy to suggest it's beyond your control.
And your logical fallacy is: https://yourlogicalfallacyis.com/black-or-white

REAL Damage. On ALL levels. THAT would be amazing to see (now that we have waited 16 years for it... ;) )

Oh, and all four corners being adjustable. (And, maybe, engine swaps. But, except for the sounds, it's usually NOT a better thing..... (shrug) )

@Johnnypenso , So @Tenacious D is an eternal optimist. So....?

No, you can't visually get under the hood, but, really, how many things CAN you change? ;)

And, yes, Pcars IS vaporware until it is in hand. Yeah, many people are Beta-ing it now, but, does it have 1200 (even duplicates and lower res) cars? Does it have a similar number of tracks? Does it have a fan base that guarantees 1 million sales on the first day?

So, it's an awesome (and from what I have seen so far, that's not a stretch) competitor.

It's still not in MY hands.... ;)

So, I'm happy with what I have, and I'm sure you are, as well. Even if you aren't playing GT currently.

This whole "I'll piss on you just because I can" is really, really old.....

Enjoy! (What else is there to do that's worth doing? ;) )

There is a technical definition of vapourware and PCars doesn't fit that definition.

In the computer industry, vaporware (or vapourware, see spelling differences) is a product, typically computer hardware or software, that is announced to the general public but is never actually manufactured nor officially cancelled.

PCars is far from that, it's been delayed, nothing more. GT5 was delayed more than once and up to a year if memory serves, but I'm guessing TenD never referred to it as vapourware. If the game never hits the market then fine, it's vapourware, but calling it that at this point is just flamebait on TenD's part.

Not sure what the car count or size of the fanbase has to do with anything. You do realize that people can be critical of something and still play it and enjoy the aspects of it they find entertaining right? Calling out someone or something on an opinion or statement of fact in an internet forum is an intellectual exercise, it doesn't mean I can't put the game in the PS and thrash cars around the track, nor that I see the game/series with rose coloured glasses or think that even Kaz's mistakes are better than other developer's successes as some seem to believe.

Most people are three dimensional beings, but some are not and it's hard for the single-minded, of which there are quite a few on GTP, to see things but a single way, good or bad. As has been said many times, if we critics didn't care about the series we wouldn't be here, we'd just give up and move on.

You obviously didn't read and/or comprehend either the link you provided, or the post you quoted.

And with the above sentence serving as an example, the fallacy is in your court.
The shoe fits jimi, you only need put it on. In context, which of course you removed by selectively quoting to suit your case, @xiando is responding to a query as to why people come HERE to complain. What is beyond Xiando's control is that there is nowhere else to complain but GTP as he explained in his post, not that the ability to refrain from complaining is out of his control, which is how it looks with your selective quoting.

But you only see things in black and white and you ignore both the validity of the complaints and the context in which they are made. See how that works? That's why you have to read the entire post, not just focus on the things that suit your particular cause and quote out of context to provide yourself with flamebait.

But, again, you looked only at the point you wanted to make.

For ME, Pcars is not a real game..... Not that I'm not expecting it to not show up.... ;)

So, I'll enjoy what I have, and see if I will actually look at getting a PS4 to try GT OR PCars. ;)

Here; took me forever to find it.
Indeed, there's not much to say - Kazunori simply isn't answering the questions at the rate he said he would, and there's nothing that anyone involved can do to force his hand.
He didn't say it exactly, but we can assume there's not much coming from the Q&A. :indiff:
