So now we can "bribe our way to victory"? (PRICES REVEALED, SEE OP)

I am a crappy driver but I have every car. You really don't want me in your online races because I cannot keep a high speed car on the track.

By buying credits I could be a nuisance to you a bit earlier. But I pre-ordered so will be able to get in your way straight away anyway.

And to progress offline you need XP which isn't buyable, so I will still need to grind to get to level 40.

So this option to buy credits makes no difference what-so-ever to you. So how about people stop seeing their car collection in this game as having any meaningful status, and just let everyone enjoy it the way they want to enjoy it.

And I note the hypocrisy between thinking it bad to be able to buy credits but have no problem for being way over-paid for winning a seasonal event.

BTW I don't do online racing, I don't enjoy it, probably because I suck at it :)

You're also assuming the Seasonal Events will be available from day 1 and that the payouts will be the same. If they are not there for a while or are lowered, then acquiring credits will be extremely time consuming. If the game is well designed, I shouldn't have to sell cars in order to get money to race, it kind of defeats the purpose.

I don't know of a single person on my Friend's list that is looking forward to anything but online racing. ASpec, Arcade etc. is so 2004.
Good for your friends. But not everyone just wants to race online. Don't see a point there, sorry. Selling cars has always been a part of GT. If you want money or just want to sell. I only said those are ways to get more credits. Its not a necessity. Never said seasonals would be available day one either. But they ARE confirmed. As are coffee breaks which you can play over and over if you want (website says so). Everyone goes on about the game being well designed and assuming the payouts are low. I only presented facts of ways to receive credits.
The prize cars you only won once in GT5 (as opposed to however often you wanted in previous games, with slight restrictions in GT3 and GT1); and most of which you literally couldn't sell for anything (as opposed to always being able to sell them for 1/4th value before)? That's already one of the (if not the) biggest outlay of credits in previous games pretty much removed entirely.
GT5 is not GT6 and if even other GT games changed why is it impossible for the newest? So even though its a possibility it might be low payouts, low car resale, it might be the opposite.
Like it or not, there were substantial changes to the GT Mode structure of GT5 over previous games; and I've certainly never seen a convincing argument that it was for the better. Car prices, event order, credit distribution, etc. Enough so that PD ultimately patched in events that handed out millions of credits for not much effort at all. And there's no word on whether most of those changes will be reverted, so the issues with whether or not the buying credits system will be... "encouraged" by the way PD balances the game are still open to discussion.
Right. No word. Just photos on the page of Sunday cup's payout. So theres nothing to go by on either side of the fence. Thats why I would wait before judging either way. But imo gaining credits was never an issue. I didn't need a million+ credits for anything but an lmp. And then again, I think I gained one as a prize car.

As well it should. If they torpedo the payouts in order to encourage buying credits, the whole legacy of GT is tainted IMO. No longer can anyone talk about them being the little independent guy, in it for the quality of the product, in it for the fans, in it for the big picture, yes making money but not gouging us by nickle and diming us with features from other game designers/studios we hate, like altering the economy of the game to make a buck. Kaz's vision, the GT family and all that malarkey will be out the window if they alter the economy of the game to attempt to sell credits.
I'm really starting to reconsider about this now. Even though I won't be buying it and just ignoring it, I feel so blind wanting purchasable in-game credits, but how it may change GT from how it used to be. I understand that grinding is tiresome, but than the career mode's payout will decrease and car prices will probably increase. Now I'm beginning to understand why others were worried. Forza 5 seems to have fallin in that pack, and read that everyone is massively disappointed. I don't want GT to follow suit that.

I think I'll switch sides and say I don't want this being supported. Sorry guys who're okay with this, but I'm worried as well now.

I don't think you should feel too worried Toko, but there's nothing wrong with showing a little caution towards a feature like this one either.
Yeah, you're right @machschnel. :) I just hope it won't change anything, and everything will remain the same in the future. 👍

Don't get me wrong, this feature isn't too too bad if used wisely. ^_^

Im pretty sure there is no more XP system so...

I really hope it doesn't turn out this way. I'm hoping I don't lose faith in Polyphony Digital, like I have already lost faith in Rockstar Games...

That makes two of us (well that and the lag because of connection is keeping me from playing online)

Actually on the other side, i hope lot of people buy the in game money so that in return (hopefully) the DLC cars will always be free because the money from microtransactions can be used to model the cars for DLC. Wishfull thinking, i know.

Don't even know how to respond to this level of naivety! it's like saying if GT5 hits 10 million sales maybe they'll give us GT6 for free. ..?

Lol nick, its a wishful thinking which is very unlikely to happen. Its a little joke actually but yeah its a bad joke.

Now there's a star system...XP in disguise.
But yes, all cars seem to be unlocked from the start.

:nervous:

I saw that earlier but figured they were locked out because they were over 350pp. The event he was picking them for was probably up to 350pp.

edit:
Then again, this would have to be the very first event of the career and this would have to be the very first car purchase of the game in order for that to hold any water, otherwise, he would be in the garage and not the dealer.

Now you got me worried again.

Edit: and the 3.000.000 figure doesn't fit early events neither!:odd:
It's 3,000,000JP credits, look at the prices of those cars, they're all hundreds of thousands or over a million.
Plus, he has no current car, look at the key icon up top. Other screens we've seen with no locked out cars, there was already a purchased car.

Thats obviously ¥ (yen) to gt6 credits. ¥100= $1.00 Every review so far said they started out with the same car. The FIT. The other cars are locked because its not the FULL game but partially open. Probably a review copy for journalists to get an early taste of. Even @Jordan was in the same car! Put 1 and 1 together, this is most likely.

I stand corrected.

It could betray however the game will not allow you to purchase cars over the PP allowed by the events you have already unlocked. Unless it’s a game starter security preventing you from being stuck from D1.

I don't have the link but I'm sure I've read that you need to progress through the game to unlock all the cars and tracks. They may not all be available at the beginning. So while they sit in the dealership, you may not be able to get to them until you jump through a few hoops..or a lot of hoops maybe.

DO post it when you find it.

Although I wasn’t able to spend any time in the game’s new Career Mode, U.S. producer Taku Imasaki was able to share how the overall gameplay will be structured. In the earliest stages of the game, it will be more linear than what we’ve seen in the past – start here, do this race, etc. After you’ve proven your competence behind the wheel, the game will open up into the more traditional open-ended, choose-your-own-adventure format that we’ve seen in previous Gran Turismo games.

I think it was that one I got it from. Basically what it saids is. You start here with the Honda Fit RS, and enter the "Novice" event to gain stars. Once you've completed it, it unlocks all the cars and other events immediately, something like completing a tutorial first.

:)

I'm pretty sure the exact phrase, "unlock cars and tracks" was in there...
