Everything else on the list flows, if somewhat tenuously in some cases, from the first. If the in-game economy wasn't designed to screw us:

  • We would be able to buy the cars we really want on a reasonable schedule
  • The roulette wheel of doom wouldn't be rigged to give out the low-money payout (and likely, when we actually have a decent-sized garage, it will be rigged to give out duplicate cars we can't sell so we'll miss out on even the pittance of credits)
  • The marketing/review mess wouldn't have happened (or at least wouldn't involve the screwy economy)
  • PD wouldn't have given us the finger when we discovered the true nature of the screwy economy
  • There likely would be more satisfaction in career mode
  • Getting the garage to have a chance for a decent online mode

The numbers. Look at them.
The numbers Mason. What do they mean?

The pricing of some of the recent legend cars almost feels like a direct taunt that's in complete contradiction with Kaz's statement last week, but for me the biggest issue is still the lack of single player content. So many cars in this game feel irrelevant given the content available, especially the legend cars. Like there is next to no content to use that Ferrari 500 Mondial Pininfarina in. Yeah it's niche but why couldn't there be a series of pre-1960s cars events? Why are there no Gr.2 events? Why are there no Gr.1 events? No Formula events? Could go on and on like this.

The economy of the game has me down, but the lack of single player events has me bored.

If I didn't have an interest in Sport mode I'd probably have moved on already, and even that is a bit of a joke with the current weekly rotation. Other than Clio's at Tsukuba this weeks selection is so stale, bored of yet another Gr.3 at Interlagos, Autopolis is just plain boring. If we had daily rotation on daily races I'd just come back the next day or stick to Race A, now I have to come back next week if I'm not interested in Race B or C? If not for the world series races I don't think I'd be playing the game this week.

I hate how online is largely unfinished, it’s a massive downgrade from GTS which was already lacking some basic features. The root of the problem here though is it being cross gen, if they focused on ps5 then I have no doubt that this game would have released in a much more “finished” state.

The way the lead car does not need to pit in the World Touring Car 700 at Laguna Seca
That's the case with all the WTC 700 races. The Suzuki is in all of them, so really the only way to beat it is basically get the same car and don't pit. Overcoming 40 second headstart PLUS a a pit stop PLUS rubberbanding AI is impossible. That Suzuki needs to be removed from those races, it completely destroys the fun.

My biggest beefs with GT7: (that had no poll options for)

The campaign is poorly constructed compared to how it used to be. I was messing about with Forza games the other day and I had to go all the way back to Forza Motorsport 2 to enjoy a campaign where you chose your first POS car, earned initially, small amounts of winnings, and gradually upgraded your car. You could also choose for quite a few different race events. Current Forza games just throw what ever matches your car at you (except 7 you could choose there). GT7 it's linear, it even forces you to change a body kit to progress. It's really ****** and I was really disappointed about it. SO it seems like all racing games eventually come to the Apex of made for the masses and not what made them popular in the first place. I would play older GT games but I can't stand the lack of analogue input (not sticks) for accelerating and breaking.

The amount that some cars costs, compared to the credits you earn is a bit annoying over all. I didn't mind starting off with smaller winnings because that's part of progression.

The game hands you cars in fistfuls. I had 40 cars at some point doing the Cafe and no, I didn't feel a sense of pride and accomplishment.

Why is the upgrading menu split in to race car upgrade types? I dunno how many times I had to constantly shuffle between all the menus to know which part I had the upgrade for and I definitely down graded a few by mistake.

Invitations to buy expensive cars with an expiry date. **** off.

Asking you to top up your credits after every credit earning.... that's just low

Always online, I can take it or leave it. If servers are stable and you have internet, eh you won't be affected. But the ones who don't have that, are royally screwed.

And the biggest one, the single player chase races are extremely boring. Every race, I have to catch up to the first car. That's not a simulation of racing. Chase races feel fine if it was a special event, here and there. But as the default mode it's lazy as hell. The first 50% of the cars you pass instantly in a chase race and you need to make sure your car has enough HP to catch up to first place and because you had to have extra HP to catch up to them you then pass and win by 50 seconds.

That's it for me with the GT games. They're made to pray on peoples wallets with poor design.

But hey, it looks kinda pretty-ish?

All of the above, besides multiplayer because i refuse to pay for PSN. But i hate the used/legendary dealer refresh, that ***** so ****ing dumb..

The update that ****ed over the economy is pretty bad too.

Yeah, all I see is kids don't get all the best cars they want right at the start

Still none of the above, my gripe is only a part of that.
That´s still the economy screwing you over. Not being able to sell cars is not an oversight on PDs part, but very much intentional and part of the predatory monetization scheme PD and Sony have going there.

While we´re venting..... I feel like the technical shortcomings are not talked about enough and largely got a free pass in the press.

Even DF missed a lot - probably because they only played the events PD surfaces you and those do hide quite a bit.

-Standing starts result in massive frame drops
-pop -in on every track
-very short draw distance for shadows
-very apparent LOD switches on everything (cars, trees, roadside objects)
-frame rates under 30fps in replays

Quite ironic that if you want to race at 60fps on PS5 you now have to turn to ACC.

Lack of events. The unforgiving economy wouldn’t be quite as annoying if the game had launched with enough events to keep players distracted from grinding the same few races on repeat.
I think they still should increase payouts so it make those events worth your time.

No option in the poll for "all of the above"?

The severe lack of content is probably the worst for me followed closely by the deliberately broken economy. If we had the standard offline numbered GT experience with fair payouts relative to the new, more expensive pricing of almost everything, the game would be great.

Option not in the poll: game is half baked and should have been released a bit later. Its quite obvious. Not as much as GTS at launch (which was a beta) but still...

I'll preface by staying I've not really played another GT game in a while before GT7 and that I also do enjoy the game overall, despite all the controversial stuff, as I am confident PD will make things right in time... hopfully.

But my largest complaint about GT7 isn't on the poll: Why are most or all of the career races rolling starts with the AI already many seconds ahead? Also, why can't I qualify before a race? Baffling for a racing game of this type as it's not exactly realistic to win races from dead last.

Because the engine can’t handle standing starts. You can set them up in custom races and enjoy dips into the high 40s.

Way too many, but, decisively, the ones that are the most frustrating by a gigantic amount are:

-"In game economy designed to screw you"
-"Lack of events in career mode/single player"

A few more problems that are really

-Grid starts as the default instead of running starts, especially running starts with the leader 30-40 seconds ahead, which makes this not a race at all but rather, look like a mission of, exactly, catching the rabbit ahead with the other cars as moving road blocks.
-Qualifying.

^These two, I think many people have already talked about this.
However, I think a lot of you have overlooked at least two other problems with the overall gameplay of the game:

Why can't you select a single race in the championships and are forced to do the whole championship?
Why can't you DNF a race mid-championship and progress to another race or simply DNF the last race knowing that you will be the winner even if you don't race it?

It's just bad game design. You could literally do both of these things in all main Gran Turismo titles. Take for example the last championship which has 5 races. I for example just want to do the Nurburgring race, why can't I just select it and play it? No... I literally have to do the 4 races prior to reach Nurburgring and play it.

But even worse is that you are FORCED to finish all the races. Again, take the last championship with 5 races. I won the first 4 races and by the 5th race I'm pretty much the world champion since I can DNF and the 2nd place in the championship win the race and still not get as many points as me.
But no... You are forced to finish the championship. It's either finishing the 5th race or leave and lose the championship.

Again, very poor game design.

The deeper I look into the game, the more I can understand it's pathetic 1.7 user rating in Metacritic.
The Laguna Seca is the only race where that Suzuki doesn't pit. It pits in every other race. But the point still stands, that Suzuki was way overlooked by me until I did this Laguna Seca race and lost the first time. It has excelent fuel economy and the car itself is very well balanced, good in corners, good straightline speed, easy to control. For me, it's the best Gr.4 car, not on pure performance, but with all things combined.

IMO the crappy race rewards are part of the bigger issue which is a lack of single player content. After the Cafe was over the game suddenly felt dead. Like the tutorial ended and then there was no main game. I'm a longtime GT fan and used to these odd design choices/issues, but it's bad seeing this in a full GT title that's been in development forever. The challenge missions have been a welcome surprise but where are all the championships, races for different makes/classes, endurance racing, etc? Half the cars can only be used in time trial or a specific race against some 300pp cars. And then the payouts suck, so after you complete those there is no money or roulette spins to win.

Second most aggravating thing about this game are all the minor UI issues and game design choices that should have been identified and fixed years ago. 17 button presses to change a race. Not telling you the weather before a race. I could go on and on, after a week of playing I could come up with 100 ideas for UI improvements. This game should be way more polished at this point. They got the cars, tracks, and physics right but the rest is so disappointing. I can live with it, but seeing how they overlooked those basics doesn't give me a lot of confidence in the team.

The AI. Doesn't matter how much content they add or how much easier they make it to collect cars, if all I can do is race terrible AI then what is the point? Sport mode is fine, but they need to make sure there are plenty of road car races if I'm to actually use any of these cars.
