Software Update v1.01 pops out... **UPDATE**

We that get the game on release day won't have these problems :)

When everything goes live on the 24th it'll all be ok.

People with the early release are going to have a retarded head start above people.

I am not surprised by this , security patch in there aswell maybe? because hackers are already trying to hack it now. maybe its a extra level of encryption. but also could the patch be needed to support DLC cars.?

On that does anyone know how big the cromeline pack is?

Ok for those having problem with the game now

Just play it offline it works nicely that way.

Online seems to sucks atm. So go to your profile and disconnet it on the ps3 menu, then launch the game and ignore the do you want to go online message, and game is running great again.
I'll probably pass on the update for now anyway; my internet is not reliable enough to play online so I'll just stick to the raw 1.00 version and maybe avoid the problems some people are reporting. It will take me long enough to download it, so the last thing I want is for it not to work.

I did notice one change that i didn't see talked about yet, my B-Spec racers don't have the same options now regarding driving aids that they had yesterday, now i can only change the tires as i find fitting.

my game hangs for a couple of minutes on the Gran Turismo 5 screen and then pops up with a "connection to the server could not be established" message... then I click ok, it goes to the menu, where again I can't do nothing for a few minutes cos I'm pretty sure it's trying to "establish connection". once it fails again, I can navigate the menus again... why is this? it's so annoying!

Not to sound like a jerk, but did you not answer your own question? It's trying to connect to a server, and struggling, then failing. It will work once the servers are all up and running i'm sure. Cringers fossed anyways! :)

ok but is anyone else getting this? I thought the servers were up? the 1.01 update was supposed to unlock multiplayer I thought.

right, I disabled internet in my ps3 network settings and everything is working fine... so by the looks of it the servers aren't up yet...

What a massive relief to read your post as im having the same problem.

Going to stay in the licences because once you exit into main menu it takes ages. Still im sure once servers are up it will work smoothly.

I've got the same problem. It IS anoying, because there is no message, and it takes several minutes to timeout (why !?) with no message saying the console did not freeze with just GT5 logo on black screen. So don't reboot your PS3 if it happens.

Installation took 1.5hrs, GT5 icon on screen for 10mins then telling me (a connection to the server could not be established) and ddoes this everytime I go from one page to the next. Not good, I think saving to HDD so that it saves on loading times could have something to do with it but maybe its v1.01 with somes bugs trying to go online.

Heads up guys I would recommend installing the patch over a wired connection.

Not sure why this was a problem for me but when trying to install the patch via wireless the time just kept going up and up and would eventually fail after 15 mins.

Tried it again over a wired connection and it took less than 5 mins to download and install.

The strange thing is when I did a connection test for both wireless and wired the speeds were pretty much the same, so i don't think it's a problem with my ISP or router.

Alright guys.

I just had the same problem...
In this sequence.

1) installed the 133mb patch. played the game. worked brill.
2) went to utilities installed the "Full install 8gig".
3) couldnt load GT5! stuck on the red and blue GT screen.
4) booted out, tryed lots of times, the ps3 didnt even show any HDD lights flicking!!!
5) uninstalled the 8gig data. which was in fact 6,600mb.
6) installing a fresh again now...

Temporary Solution : I've unplugged my ethernet cable from the PS3, it solved the problem (until the servers go up again).

Wow dude calm down. You didn't have to uninstall the 8 gig data. The game freezes for about 3 minutes because the servers are down. Disconnect you're from the internet and it will run smoothly.

Rubbish.... so i've just wasted an hour of my GT playing lifetime!

is everyone getting the same hold/stall/loading screen on the red and blue GT screen at startup?

Cheers man, just had a massive panik attack went crazy and removed the data. then came on here to find solution...

lol wrong sequence of events to solve the problem.

yeah guys, just disable your internet connection in your ps3 network settings until the servers are up, I did that and there's no problems.

can't believe this...

I must be the only person left with the game not able to play it because i'm downloading the data... Again!

Im having problem installing,it gets to 1 second left, and it stops. It's been like that for 6-7 mins? Is it the update that is doing it?

yes probably. Polyphony Digitals 3 seconds last loading time on mine was about 3 weeks.

that probably explained why we waited 6 years for GT5. They have no grasp of time whatsoever

You do realize that the official launch day is tomorrow? They just might be testing the systems before hand. No one is supposed to have these early copies so I wouldn't place the blame on them just yet.:)

A few little tips for you all.

As we can't connect to the servers at the moment if you select GT mode or arcade then stay in there. If you back out to the main menu it will try and connect to the servers again which seems to take ages. Im not even trying the options menu just yet for the same reason.

Also when installing to your HDD do not cancel or quit out because you think its stopped. Mine was stuck on 45secs for ages and then again at 3secs. Also when installation was complete it was stuck on the GT5 logo for ages.

Just wanted to say this because some might become impatient and try and reinstall when you don't have to.

As for the online update. Only took 2mins to download and install but I do have a quick connection.
