The Script - Break Even

Just listen to the lyrics. Reminds me of every single feeling I had when my ex broke up with me, he puts it in a way I couldn't even begin to describe!

Nine Inch Nails have had a couple, namely "Right Where It Belongs" and "Hurt". Although I feel Johnny Cash's cover version of "Hurt" was a lot more emotional.

I think this was mentioned earlier :

Mike and the Mechanics - The living years

There is so much truth to this song , it makes you remember that you only get one set of parents in this lifetime , so you better make the best of them while they are here , otherwise, " it's too late " ............

Aerosmith - I Don't Want To Miss A Thing
The Beatles - Yesterday
Billy Talent - The Navy Song
Billy Talent - Surrender
Plain White T's - Hey There Delilah
Rise Against - Swing Life Away
R. Kelly - The World's Greatest
Scorpions - Wind Of Change
Slaughter - Days Gone By
Snow Patrol - Signal Fire
Bullet For My Valentine - Forever And Always
Bullet For My Valentine - Hearts Burst Into Fire
Enrique Iglesias - Somebody's Me
Hedley - Old School
Jet - Kings Horses
Jet - Shine On
The Killers - When You Were Young
Yellowcard - Shadows And Regrets
Yellowcard - Dear Bobbie
Yellowcard - Paper Walls
Green Day - Whatsername
Green Day - Redundant
Green Day - Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)
Green Day - Macy's Day Parade
Green Day - Waiting
Billy Joel - She's Always A Woman

There are so much more, but these are the only ones I can think of for the moment :D

I've got songs I listen to if I'm depressed about something but the only song I can think of that I can't listen to without getting all teary eyed is Israel Kamakawiwo Ole's version of Somewhere over the rainbow. It played at my best friends memorial service some years ago and to this day when I hear it I get pretty emotional. :(

I've found another!

Snow Patrol - You Could Be Happy

Most of the 'Eyes Open' album makes me feel sad, but this one really tears me apart. It's quite a short song really, but it says everything it needs to say within the lines in bold;

You could be happy and I won't know
But you weren't happy the day I watched you go

And all the things that I wished I had not said
Are played in loops 'till it's madness in my head

Is it too late to remind you how we were
But not our last days of silence, screaming, blur

Most of what I remember makes me sure
I should have stopped you from walking out the door

You could be happy, I hope you are
You made me happier than I'd been by far

Somehow everything I own smells of you
And for the tiniest moment it's all not true

Do the things that you always wanted to
Without me there to hold you back, don't think, just do

More than anything I want to see you, girl
Take a glorious bite out of the whole world

A brilliant touch is that as he sings the 2nd bolded section, the strings in the background pick up, almost reflecting the feelings that are being sung about. An amazing bit of music IMO.

Here's one, Moon Over the Castle. I think everyone on this site recognises it.

It only really makes me emotional because I miss the days when GT2 was the top dog, and I was in primary (Elementary) school.

Well, basically the following ones should fit perfectly:

1 - My heart will go on
2 - Moonlight Shadow
3 - Canon in D Major

Pretty much any southern gospel music. I'm not a fan of it, but it was all my dad listened to before he passed away. Now any time I hear it, I turn into a sobbing SOB.

These aren't exactly tearjerkers, but they definitely have some effect on my mood.
Not all of them, but the ones I can think of for now.

Black Sabbath - Planet Caravan
Death Cab For Cutie - I Will Follow You Into The Dark
Peter Gabriel - Book Of Love
Shadows Fall - Lead Me Home
Joshua Radin - Winter
Moonman - Don't Be Afraid (Ferry Corsten 99 remix)
Legend B - Lost in Love (DJ Taucher mix)
Veracocha - Carte Blanche
Dire Straits - Brothers In Arms
The Distillers - Gypsy Rose Lee
The Distillers - The Blackest Years
Ennio Morricone - The Ecstasy of Gold
The Smashing Pumpkins - For Martha
The Smashing Pumpkins - To Sheila
Machine Head - The Burning Red
Samuel Barber - Adagio for Strings

Pretty sad song, that reminds me of a certain someone... Its a good emotional though, but it does bring me back to my depression.

Veracocha - Carte Blanche

Usually sends shivers down my spine, so I guess that's a good thing. Just wish I'd have been old enough to go to Ibiza during the years trance tracks like this were big. Going in September though :D

Foo Fighters - Everlong (acoustic) - Already mentioned a couple of times but it's def one that makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up... I think I did cry when he did it at Wembley stadium last year.

Lynyrd Skynyrd - Freebird - It's the last song on my mates bands set list at every gig.

Eric Clapton - Tears in heaven - Bit of a no brainer really when you consider why it was written but it was also played at my neices funeral and it would always get to me before that... Can't listen to it at all now without welling up.

Major jealousy :P and I'm with you all the way on wanting to go back in the glory years of Euphoric Trance, 1998 - 2001-ish was packed full of legendary songs, MTV Ibiza 1999 was my first ever CD and still one of my favourites!

Sorry, I'll contribute.

P.O.D.- Youth Of The Nation

This song is about teen suicide. Very spooky song!

Its not about suicide its about school shootings. It is a very good song though, Rapcore is not my usual gig or even close to it but I've always had a soft spot for P.O.D. even though their views are very different from mine but the thought and idea are all very correct and positive. It is a very haunting song and definatly deserves a spot in this thread 👍

I know how you feel, even the studio version can be too much for me. I can't listen to that song but it's one of my favorites.

Weezer - Only In Dreams

Bush - Warm Machine

Smashing Pumpkins - Tonight, Tonight

Radiohead - Idioteque

AFX - PWSteal.ldpinch.d

I thought I heard somewhere it was about teen suicide. Boy do I feel like a :dunce:! Yeah, I'm not really into that whole genre of rapcore or metal. Not really at all. But to me P.O.D. is more than that. It seems like all the other metal bands are all depressing and negative. But P.O.D. is very positive in alot of their songs. I.E. Alive.

Hah! It's ok.. Its music and its about how you interpret things. But in this case he clearly expresses the action of being shot. P.O.D. has nothing in common in metal... Well other then that they use a guitar, bass and drums. 80% of Metal is about empowerment and feeling good. The only real depressive bands in Metal fall under the Doom category which is what Black Sabbath started.

P.O.D. is a Christian band and Christian bands for the most part are about (well at least the ones that don't suck) are uplifting and about having good values. The bad ones are basically church propaganda for kids with drug/alcohol issues.

Well I kind of gotten a little off topic so I will add more.

A very good song but I have a hard time listening to it.. I dedicated it to someone I really liked and listened it to a lot with her. I was dealing with a lot of depression at the time and this song helped a lot. But this song brings backs some haunting memories but at least we are still friends so it isn't to bad when I listen to it ;) A good example of Christian rock.

I think Hurt has to be one of the most underrated radio friendly rock bands around. Hugely talented band with an amazing song writer. This song pretty much solely got me out of said depression. I can probably post all of their songs here but I won't spam you guys. But I highly recommend them. They are a GREAT example of why modern music doesn't suck but they did just lose their drummer. :(
