Cant play online, every time have error code (ps4 online), every time I try do somethink I have message " conection to server have been lost".

Sony is known as a company to cut corners and cheap out on infrastructure. This requirement for always online with Sony's poor history of server infrastructure robustness is not good.

Just because the EU or the UK comes online should not tax the infrastructure to the point of impact.

This also means that GTS will have a finite life. Unlike the other titles you can pop a disk in and still enjoy years after the online service goes dark. I still fire up GT4,5 and 6 for quick thrill every now and again.

Sometimes a year will go by between GT sessions in our household.

I am not sure I like the idea of a title that you pour heart and soul into - that will guaranteed, go totally dark at some point.

The sensitivity of the offline parts of the title to 'server maintenance' are very irritating.

We as the consumer should be dictating when WE play, not the software vendor. Their time table is not my timetable.

They did say that the servers would go down during the demo.

The reality is that the demo is just a huge test of the servers to make sure they’re right on day one.

Here is hoping - but I have been around Sony, PSN, the PS console since launch. They are notorious for over promising and under delivering, then pulling the plug on features when support efforts get in the way.

With a mostly offline game with an online multiplayer, over selling and promising the online is a mild inconvenience. But when the title is touted as mostly online, that puts Sony under a different sort of pressure. And they don;t like that.

Just witness how the PS Store and PSN have evolved over time - hoe PS Home came was over promised, then after after a few years vanished. And people spent real money updating their PS Home assets.

I hope I am proven wrong and that GTS turns into the greatest online experience and service evahh!11! ;)

Exactly. There's no way of testing them outside of actually using them as intended, hence why I think the demo was released at all...

I don't think it will work unless you have a DriveHub.

You could also use GIMX and an adapter. See the links below:

https://www.gtplanet.net/how-to-use-any-steering-wheel-with-gt-sport/

https://gimx.fr/forum/

https://blog.gimx.fr/shop/

You just buy the adapter. Plug one end into the PS4 and the other into your PC. Install the latest version of GIMX on your PC and use the configuration program to map the wheel and pedal axis and the buttons. Save the configuration. Don't forget to map the PS button since you need it to get the wheel to work in game.

O

Thank god someone actually read the article.

They also invited people to download the demo and put in effort and then have that effort carry over to the retail game.

Well - I was just online for a quick look see again.

BTW, the info message from earlier indicated that the server had to be restored. Server? Singular?

I do not care that the server goes into maintenance while I am driving. So what, that is what test periods are for - but now I wonder what the point of the Beta program was if they never actually tested anything.

What I do care about is that I was busy doing a particularly difficult license test.

Finally got Gold. Only to have the message pop up - Sorry Mate, your progress cannot be saved. The server is offline

I do not care that my demo progress may be lost what I care about is the stupid architecture.

The fact it cannot cache a local copy and wait for the server to come back online shows very poor comprehension of cloud based computing architecture and data integrity management.

That is the point here.

Yes, their infrastructure is being tested - but it is also is highlighting the severe weakness in this service design.

Why should I bother putting in effort if at any point a network or service glitch could render my previous hours of effort for nought - because the server is down and progress cannot be saved.

This has happened twice now. Which shows it is inherent int he design.

The crashes during testing do not bother me - the fact that the crash causes me to lose progress does. This is probably how the retail product will work as well.

Wow this is the absolute worst gran turismo to date. Its complete garbage. Im done. Cancelling my pre order that ive had for over a year. My 20 years playing and supporting this game has come to an end. Gt5 was very lackluster, gt6 was gt5 but with a 6 in replace of 5, and after all these years, this is the garbage we get? After the 100s of dollars ive spent on the franchise, buyinh every game since the 1st, all the collectors editions thats been available, consoles just to get gran turismo, and a $700 racing rig, im done.

The AI in this game is the worst i have ever seen. They purporsedly come behind you and spin you completely out, and just keep going like nothing even happened. Theres no car modding, no car collecting, nothing. I feel like im playing a reskinned project cars or driveclub. Oh wait they have more varity of cars then this game does. We have what, 170 cars? Take away the vision cars, and of course the semmingly mandatory 5 multiple varities of each model, what do we have left? 60 maybe 70 actual cars? 90% that are just straight race cars?

This of course being if you can even ACTUALLY PLAY THE GAME!!! Since 9 this morning i have spent more time down do to server issues then actually playing. It will go doen for 45 minutes to an hour, come back up for like 20 or 30 minutes, theN down again. ALL. DAY. LONG. And OF COURSE if your not connected to the server you cant literally do ANYTHING. NOTHING! No arcade, no career, no profile you cant even get to the game options. Why???? Is this how its gonna be when it FINALLY releases? No network connection your locked out of 100% of the game?!?! On top of that completely unreliable servers??

Sorry PD. You failed, and your entire franchise is crashing and burning. There are way too many other options out there now. Your not the only one in town. Between assetto corsa, project cars 2, forza 7 now that its on pc as well, among several other racing sims that are on their way, your just bringing too little too late. And wrapped up in a buggy, frustrating and unreliable package.

@RC45 - I totally hear what you're saying, but isn't it possible that's just a beta/demo issue and the retail GTS won't have that "Oh, so sorry..." message? Maybe it will store progress data on your local machine and update it PSN-wide when the servers do come back online? Or is that not going to be how it works? Don't have PS4, so I don't know a lot about it.

And you came to that whole conclusion by playing a few hours of just a demo/beta?

I'm still trying to decide. But the servers keep going down. If the servers can't handle the traffic on a Demo, what will happen at launch and many more want to use it?

Your gonna call a full 43GB download of which we have access to maybe 5gbs max of a game thats releasing in 7 days a beta??? Really?

Hate to tell you but the game is done. Its made, pressed and already shipped out sitting in retailers back room. This is the game. I was part of the ACTUAL closed beta months ago. This is how the game is going to be. Thats why it is listed as a FULL GANE TRIAL and not a beta. So yes, i can tell all that by playing the full finished game.

No , this demo has the purpose of stressing/testing the servers , and there's a lot of content locked , so no , this is not the full game.

Actually try the full game before ranting , give it a chance.

You'd be great for IGN though , i'll give you that. :D

I could even handle the retail version servers going down a lot, just so long as my local progress was able to be saved and the game continued to work, just with online bits disabled rather than go all weird.

The obsession with pursuing an 'online driving world' is the problem. Not everyone (I would hazard a guess the majority) of GT players don't care about eSports or intend to try participate in eSports - it is almost as if this is an exercise to get regular players to pay for a perpetual GT Academy interface.

hey that's just like.. your opinion man.

The AI in this game is the worst i have ever seen. They purporsedly come behind you and spin you completely out, and just keep going like nothing even happened.

Man imagine being over at PD, for years everyone wanted better more aggressive AI. They deliver and people say they're TOO aggressive:lol:.

theres no car modding

Besides losing wings, this is actually the most robust customisation we've ever had on GT! The livery editor is a gift from God.

no car collecting

But there is. You have credits, you have cars, you buy said cars with credits? How is it different from any past Gt's..?

We have what, 170 cars? Take away the vision cars, and of course the semmingly mandatory 5 multiple varities of each model, what do we have left? 60 maybe 70 actual cars? 90% that are just straight race cars?

Hey I'll give you that! Hopefully kaz isn't jerking our chain and really has 500 more cars on the way.

It's a demo. We got to test the game for free before release no strings attached and your upset? How many thousands and thousands do you think are all trying to play at once. I'd much rather they have server maintenance during this demo period than constant disconnects on release day. We also don't know what the online requirements will be for the full game either. So relax.

I don't see how PD have "failed" yet. The game isn't even out bud. When we see bad sales figures or a loss of profit then I guess we can say it's failed? But I'm pretty sure, and your probably sure yourself you know this game is going to sell like hotcakes. Especially with it being largely positive praise on multiple forums. I don't see "failure" inbound.

Thanks for telling us your pre order canceling plans man but your on "Gtplanet" did you think you were gunna be seen off with roses? Your playing a demo and complaining, one more toxic community member gone in my books.👍

Edit: sorry for terrible formatting I'm on mobile!

Wow. Some serious speculating and projecting future events in this thread. In the impressions thread, people are having fun with GTS and are generally positive about what's actually been presented in the demo.

No, the closed beta was meant to test the servers, which is why only the online portion was available and only during certain times. Again, i was involved with the closed beta...

It was also much smaller then 43 GBs. This is the complete game that they locked out 90% of. The game is done. I would almost guarantee that anyone who has this demo and preordered the digital version wont be redownloading the game. Just an "unlock".

If you dont know how manufacturing and worldwide distribution works thats fine, but im telling you the game is finished. This is the final state of the game. The discs are already made and have been shipped out. They are not still working on and devloping it 7 days before release date. Thats rediculous to even think so. The way the AI is programed, the server issues, the car roster, the lack of mods, the fact that no connection equalls 100% locked out of everything, all of this is in its final state. The most that can be done is MAYBE a day 1 patch to fix SOME of the issues, but the core game is not gonna be changed within a week.

Chill out and be rational. It's not like you already spend on this open beta. There are network issues yes and that's just normal when thousands of people wants to connect at the same time, but it doesn't mean the game is bad. Why not play other game and come back when everything is sorted out.

Just relax guys, we have a Beta version of a Demo. To me this is the best Gran Turismo I’ve ever played. Waited for this moment for a long time!
