Well if GT5 isn't out this year Microsoft will be very happy because I (and many other car enthusiasts) will go buy an XBOX 360 so we can play Forza 3.

If GT5 is out before Christmas I won't buy an xbox.

If its not out before Christmas it will have to be so mind boggling good you will have to sit down and compose yourself after playing it for the first 10 minutes - if not then PD will be the biggest (are they not already?) laughing stock in the car game/simulation world due to the extraordinary amount of time they need to complete each game.

Look at how the Forza3 website is promoting the game - wow - fair play to them - shame PD are so short sighted in this respect.

Assuming you already have a PS3, i doubt PD or Sony would give a toss, because you will still buy GT5 aswell, so they wont have lost out on anything.

Forza 3 was officially announced with a launch date roughly four months (At E3 in June) before its launch and now we have tons of info coming out.

If GT5 is announced at GamesCom for a December release (four months) and they start giving us regular info bits until then they will have done just as much as Forza 3 (technically more since GTPSP news seems to be giving GT5 hints as well). If that happens I hope you can retract your negativity in regard to PD's short sighted issues.

I'm confused at the moment. When is it we will likely hear something new about GT5? Tomorrow, wednesday, this week at all?

Tomorrow i guess after the 3 hour conference, unless it gets a release date at TGS which would mean in just over a months time at the very latest.

During Sony's conference, which would be tomorrow.

The SONY Press Conference will start in about 24 hours...If things running well and SONY decided to reveal something about GT5 than we could probably know more in about 24-27 hours...

Tuesday between 5-8pm GMT+1 I think it was? Might be +/- a few hours.

I'll try stay up for the live blog and see what is shown. 3 hours ought to have something good!

The conference itself will only be 1 hour long with an 2 hours for people to sit down.

Way I understood it it was actually 1 hour for Sony itself to talk, then Sony would likely introduce some of their developers to demonstrate games/talk for the other 1-2 hours.

It doesn't take 2 hours for someone to sit.

I guess he was joking.

Im just saying what sony reported themselves. Sony themselves said that the conference itself will only be one hour long with 2 hours for people to sit down.

I'm sooo looking forward to GT5, I can only hope for this fall or early winter release...no later that Feb 2010 I hope...but I've waited this long.

Yeah thats what they said, two hours for the journalists to get seated!!

Sounds crazy but thats definitely what they said. There is a link somewhere to the official Sony statement. Think its earlier in this thread actually.

I guess they are giving themselves plenty of time to over run.

I thought the conference was supposed to be at 6 pm German time?

Cologne is 6 hours ahead of us...which would make it 12 noon for us in the eastern time zone...unless I misread something.

You are right. I posted before that it was going to be at 7 p.m. but new data points to a 6 p.m. start.

So everyone is clear:

05:00:00 p.m. Tuesday August 18, 2009 in GMT+1 converts to
11:00:00 a.m. Tuesday August 18, 2009 in GMT-5

so it is 11:00am EST US

Its great that we now know the time. Now I just need to find where it'll be broadcasted on

I have no choice, I'll watch it on my ps3 browser...I hope I'll be able to watch it :nervous: (some videos don't work on that browser because of java or something like that)

So hold on, what time Exactly in Germany SONY conference starts? as well how many hours? ONE or THREE? some gaming sites say its now only 1? Sony might talk for ONE, but other developers 2 hours? hmmm

Sony has booked the conference for 3 hours. They themselves are speaking for 1 hour (approximately). (From what I read I have assumed)Other 2 hours will still be used though (presumably for developers)

Have to say im doubting any major announcement will be made with only a trailer being likely.

The simple reason is looking around websites such as Gametrailers, gamespot etc there doesn't seem to be as much interest compared to E3, TGS. So as it seems a low key event in comparison will Sony announce such a massive game at this event. My answer is no, a trailer with the main announcement being at TGS.

Love to be wrong though!

I'd rather say a release date will be announced and the trailer will be saved for TGS. I don't have a clue though, but has there ever been a GT trailer released on this event before?

steve30x, this is really not a good time (or place) for fighting words. hardvibes wasn't even reffering you in particular, he was reffering to that small part in which he even bolded.

wow this is like...

Anyways back on topic... even though GC is smaller than E3, Europe is GT's biggest market. I would be shocked if they did not show anything GT5 related. It just would not make sense.

I would be amazed if GT5 wasn't mentioned i.e trailer or release date but I would be surprised if we get much more info than that. Apart from the reasons I gave, would Sony want the focus taken away from GT mobile. There are going to be quiet a few sony announcements coming soon and it doesn't make sense to reveal all at one show.

Still I bet a majority of us would be pleased with a 1min trailer and a release date. I don't need PD telling me how good GT5 will be because I know this already.
