Can someone please help me I'm so confused. Are sony's games going to be featured at GDC (Game developers convention) which is on the 17th august and is held in cologne, the same place as Gamescom or will they be at gamescom?

This image form the Gamescom site can help you.
They are at the same veanue but GDC are conferences for the industry people and are closed to the public, and when it ends the gamescom starts and is open to the public.
The Sony conference is the 18th at 7 p.m. local time. (GTM + 1)

Edit, Torero82 beat me with the same pic lol.

Anyway, the industry as moved from Leipzig Convention to Gamescom and GDC and Gamescom are held together.

I'm considerinng having a weeks break from the GT5 forums, then when i come back either drool over the news released, or bang my head against a brick wall.

Tell me about it. I'm doing this since E3. Usually i just check the front page. Truth is, there's nothing to talk about it since july.

Hopefully this ends tuesday.

Unless something cataclysmic happens, like luggage being stolen or someone being bribed to spill something, I don't think we're going to get anything more until Tuesday. Remember E3, it was quite a wait, but held a nice surprise. And heck, GDC Europe was the last place I expected to hear anything big. I thought sure it would be Tokyo, and probably still is for the blowout. However, Turn 10 has sure been throwing their egos around, so who knows.

Only two more days...

Just a heads up for those who want video coverage from sony's press conference

Sony might be streaming the presentation them selves. When I went on HOME today I saw there was a new screen in the "Presentation podium" area flanked by two big gamescon signs.

Hei guys, just came from GAME shop in here in Spain. I went to see if I could make a reservation of GT5... And you know what the guy of the shop told me!? He said: Oh... GT5... Didn't you know? Has been pushed far... We asked Sony for some info and Sony replied that the game was now schedule June... 2010!

So I asked him if he was just joking... but he was really serious...

Ok, I know, I just have to wait some hours to know the truth... but this guy scared me a LOT!!!

So shouldn't this mean they are technically presenting at GDC, not Gamescom?

pffff if some game shop in Spain had confirmation from Sony, so would just about every other major seller around the globe.
This information would be almost simultaneously blasted to every single part of the interweb and a google search of GT5 Release Date would give you a bajillion hits of June 2010. A quick search on google for GT5 Release Date, sorted in the last 24 hours shows nothing but speculation about a 2009 release.

I dare say your shop owner knows as much as I do about the release date ;)

Don´t worry.... spanish videogame sellers use to be the last guys to know something about games.

:dopey:

Yes, but the conference is for the GamesCom.
The advantage is that you only have the real press there.

Damn, probably will take a while before we see any video footage then, no on the fly youtube vids:grumpy:
Hope there is a live feed somewhere, or preferably hope it will be on PS Home, fingers crossed.

No, often the big three will have conferences at these events the night, sometimes even the week, before. The conference itself is for the things to be shown off on the show floor, so these press conferences are actually best when held before the showfloor opens, so no surprises have to be left off the show floor.

So, for instance, if we get a full GT5 reveal here they don't have to keep it hidden from the showfloor. When the showfloor opens, the reveal will be done and so there is no issue with letting people see and/or get their hands on it.

Is this conference going to be streamed live somewhere? If so where could I find it at? And it starts are GMT+1? Thats -7 from me so I'd expect it to be on at noon my time.

Quote:“The content won’t be streamed live, it will be in the Presentation Podium after the press conference has finished.”

European Product Manager Elliot Linger talking about Gamescom in PS Home.

It is apparentlly going to be on various blogging sites, just no live streams, so far.

Just saw a gamescon 09 Line-up overview on a german PC Gaming Website. Sony is also on the list with Gran Turismo 5 mentioned.
Propably they just confused it with GT Mobile, because I didn't find it on the list.

...But maybe... :)

Link: PC Action

...But most likely... :indiff:

Thanks Dan, I guess i'll just have to be glued here to wait for an update.

This has downed my love for Sony. I mean I still think they're great but to not announce this game at GameCom is just absurd. So the game might just be coming out in 2010 after all. That would be just bad because surely lots of people would like to finally drive new updated physics cars, like a Benz AMG, or a Shelby Cobra, or even a great racing car/series...this year.

Well if GT5 isn't out this year Microsoft will be very happy because I (and many other car enthusiasts) will go buy an XBOX 360 so we can play Forza 3.

If GT5 is out before Christmas I won't buy an xbox.

If its not out before Christmas it will have to be so mind boggling good you will have to sit down and compose yourself after playing it for the first 10 minutes - if not then PD will be the biggest (are they not already?) laughing stock in the car game/simulation world due to the extraordinary amount of time they need to complete each game.

Look at how the Forza3 website is promoting the game - wow - fair play to them - shame PD are so short sighted in this respect.

GT5 wasn't on the E3 list either but guess what, here we are talking about NASCAR and WRC being in it and wanting to see another trailer.

Don't tell me you actually believe that story about the gamestop in Spain saying its coming out in 2010. Don't you think this story would be all over the net if it was actually true?

Xbox 360's will never be a part of my collection. And PD aren't exactly going to be the biggest laughing stock anyway, since they are at least producing games. And games that are developed long enough (assuming they make it into production) are usually good games. The thing that will make GT5 a good game will probably end up being its content, likewise Forza 3, because racing simulations need a load of it.
