Sound improvements

I seriously can't believe my ears!!! anyone noticed how realistic the sound is inside the tuned 370Z? It's so pleasing to hear. And the wind noise has been tweaked up a bit, while the tire squealing never have been better in a GT game.

PD have done real hard work. I salute all the PD staff, and thank you KZ! never thought i'll ever enjoy a GT as that much. I feel good knowing they didn't spend 5 years for nothing :). Tuning and modding the cars in the full game will be a blast.

Agreed the engine sound is a lot better. I love the sound of the tuned.

But FFS, that awful awful constant tyre screech.. I will never understand that. It completely ruins the game for me. Not only does it add NOTHING, but it just infuriates me and is completely overused. It doesn't matter how great GT5 final will be, unless that screech is toned down or moderated I will not be able to play it.

So many people complain about the tire noise... I have to assume many of them have never driven a real car through a corner at the limits of their tires' grip.

I really don't care if that noise would be there in real life, the constant screeching is not a nice noise, completely annoying, and overused. It has not changed for the past 10 years and sounds ridiculous. Nobody can deny this.

I'm denying it

I think to judge sound, you need to hop in prologue again. I was playing prologue as i was downloading the time trial. So my ears went from A to B. The GT5t has a serious sound improvement. Dare I say, the first thing that came to mind was GTR? The transmission whine is there, the wind noise, the engine/exhaust tones aren't as synthesized. Just the "cage" of the vehicle, the bumps, the rumble strip, yes it was all upgraded. The tire screech really depends on your driving. You can even observe this watching KY himself(as he seems to be a pretty careful driver) on the ring. Yeah, you get it in some long stretch corners, but if you're screeching the whole time, the problem is user input. Even then, the tire screeching isn't as obnoxious. The flyby Doppler noises are great, and im sure it can only improve with a higher res file.

I was definitely pleased to hear the sounds. The difference in depth with the 370z, to the race spec one is definitely distinct.

I too am denying the claim about tire noise. Try not being WOT through all turns.

My theory is that the tyre noise is there to make up for the fact that you can't 'feel' when the tyres are losing grip.

When you're driving a car, you get the sensation of the tyres reaching their limit through the seat of your pants, which is something no game will ever be able to replicate. Maybe PD is using tyre noise as a substitute. If you're smooth and use smaller steering inputs, the tyres don't make as much noise.

tyre noise is muuuuch improved but i love the most doppler effect... is just OMG ...

CHANGE SOUND TO LARGE THEATRE !!!!!!!

I just Turned it on and i expected GT5P standard but...

IT's WHOLE NEW LEVEL !!!! Tuned 370Z in this mode .Muffler sound is just amazing and so animalll... And best of it is that doppler effect just increase low range of sound as in real life when car pass by camera...

Yeah I change my to large theater since I have the 7.1 , sounds really amazing!

Cant wait for FULL game, this is only 201 MB, something tells me even more will be improved, like when exhaust blows, or anything elese.

I am loving the sounds as well, I might want to upgrade to a 7.2 system :D.

I have mine on small theater and am loving it. When I go on the yellow paint on the entrance to the back straight I can hear the tires slipping on the individual lines of paint as I speed up. Why is march so far away?

Yeah the sound made a huge improvement in my opinion!!

I absolutaly love the sounds the tuned version produces, the change in engine tune, gearbox singing, wind, tyre noises...very much improved compaired to prologue!!

Also the sound output in now in DTS,so even more detailed over my 5.1 soundsystem, its great ...i am enjoying every second of it!!

I don't have surround so I can't really comment on the sound too much. :(

Although the transmission whine really adds to the experience.

I have a 5.1 set up and have set the sound to large theatre but the sound just does not jump out at me like it should. I will have another fiddle when I get home to see if I can improve it, but for me other then the transmission noise the sound does not seem to be a huge leap.

I don't think its a huge leap...just a good well thought out improvement...👍

Meh... it sounds even worse then prologue, should have left it the way it was... If it aint broken don't fix it. Why cant PD do sounds? i mean seriously, the tuned car sounds like its from a Playstation game, and tire sounds are past rubbish, it's an apauling heap of crap. and that damn annoying screach.
PASS... :grumpy:

Is what i would say..
But, Oh my god, I am speechless, The sound of the fly by the camera, when you switch gears with the replay camera in front, You get a Deep bellow from the Intake,Is amazing, when your car goes past, you get a raspy Animalistic Roar, and you can hear how the Exhaust is piercing the air, When your in the distance you hear the transmission whine and brake down, The Doppler effect is off the charts, These sounds are honestly at Forza,PGR, or GTR level. When you close your eyes it actually sounds like a "Real" car, It is past impressive, It sounds like a freaking video from best motoring.
And when your in the interior, Oh my, its just so ackward that this is granturismo, you can hear the exhaust now howl through the RPM switching different tones along the way,and you can hear the intake Dump and bellow when your nearing the Redline and shifting gears, And then you get the "GTR2" racing transmission whine screaming through the rpm's along with everything else, This is how a Damn VQ n/a engine, fully tuned with a racing exhaust, and racing transmission is suposed to sound!.
And then theres the Tire squeal, With a "Wheel" it's so wonderful, you can actually hear the tires hitting the wheel well when you brake, when you ebrake you can hear the tires slip on pavement grasping for grip, When you turn it actually sounds like the tires are fighting for grip(Even changes tones depending on how fast your going)when you drift you get a nice Loud ear peircing Screech, Bravo PD... i can't beileve im hearing Granturismo And guys, if the tuned cars sound like this, just imagine how the rally cars, nascars, J1GT, and Le mans cars will sound and all other cars. PD have done what i thought was not possible. And way more.

Oh you TorqueHappens, i was like "WFT!" then i was like "ahh i see" haha. I think the inclusion of DTS 5.1 (using Optical) has made a big difference. It adds a lot more weight and broadness to the sound, the sound seperation is also improved. When i drive in the grass the subwoofer really growls, in a good way. Feels like my pictures are going to fall off of the walls.

I'm using the current default speaker setup so i'll have to try Small/Large Theater when i get home.

If the tire sound effects bothers you that much you can turn it down in the options menu under "sound effects"

I was hoping for the horn button to be working too but I guess not until the full game comes out. Oh! and did anyone notice those "Trees"? haha! I'm sure someone is going to be whinning about that too.

Exactly! The game sounds incredible except for the HORRIBLE tire screeching sound!

Exactly,i think most people forget how fast they are actually driving the cars thru the corners in granturismo....

If you don't think the sounds have improved, you need to

A. Go to a Race track and or drag strip, don't forget your hearing aid.

B. Go to your local street racing spot and listen to what tuned exhaust sounds like.

C. Go play prologue then go back to GT5. I'm positive after this one you will wholeheartedly agree.

D. Explain why you think it has not changed instead of sayin" the sound sucks" this could could lead to flaming and thread derail.

E. Need to drive a "Real" "Tuned" car.

F. Wear a white racing suit, suck the moisture from ducks, have a robotic body, mechanical brain with supersonic ears, turn on by the sound of a engine. and turn off when you exit a vehicle.

G. Need to go get your hearing checked, this could prove helpful.

Other then that, i love sounds, and alot of people from other Forums agree completely that it sounds amazing.

In that clip, most of the time the guys are trying to go sideways, which naturally is going to generate a lot of tyre squeal.

Top Gear laps are a more apt demonstration of real-life tyre squeal imo.

Well the problem is that tires don't squeal ALL the time. Certain tires are worse than others, and some don't at all

I'll deny it. First thing, actually is has changed in 10 years, it's had a big improvement for this demo. And another, you're willing to admit that it's a realistic thing, but you still don't want it? Then stop playing Gran Turismo, leave this forum, and leave us all alone. If you don't want realism, don't complain about the "real driving simulator". :\
