And that would be the "change the argument to one I'd rather have", a classic in itself, and firm favourite, I've noticed.
I never asked anyone to prove or disprove anything.

I questioned the logic of continuing a discussion about conclusions drawn from figures, when those figures weren't even understood or investigated by both parties. The first thing to do is establish a common basis of discussion, and then present arguments, not assume the party line based purely on the person who dug up the figures. Following the link provided should have been enough to raise questions as to the exact nature of that basis, and should have been the first thing JP did.

Besides, "on the basis of who posted it" sounds an awfully lot like "play the man, not the ball" - but that's yet another classic, given the participants. ;)

Anyway in other news, apparently the FT-1 VGT sounds sick. The update on my side keeps failing so my comments will have to wait.

Is that the good sick or the bad sick?

The good kinda sick Mr Penso

Alright, so I've managed to finally get the update. The FT-1 VGT sounds nice. It's not mind boggingly amazing, it's nice, that's it. I'd expect the Supra to sound the same though but the FT-1 does the job.

I'll leave the floor to @Griffith500

WRC Arcade matches the sound of vehicles:

Another rally car which PD screwed in sounds:
Citroen Xsara Kit Car'99
Real sound:

GT6's sound is the V6. But this Citroen Xsara Kit Car has 4 valves per cylinder, not V6!

(from 0:54)

My appologies in advance if I sound like a smart as, but "4 valves per cylinder" doesn't tell you how many cylinders an engine has. Most V6 engines have 24 valves.
And yes, they screwed up many sounds...
Indeed! They really did.

Look for RS200 Rally Car'86.
Real sound:

GT6 sound is really close to real one.

I'd have to disagree. The real car compared to GT6 has a deeper tone rather than the higher pitch one. That's just me though.

Right there is a perfect example of one of GT's sound problems the real one has much more grunt. The sounds are sometimes there in GT6 but incorrectly balanced.
KTM X-Bows is one of great examples of GT6 perfect sound. It is really close one.

The quality of video of real sound wasn't so good...

It could be so much better. As I said though in my opinion, the correct sounds are there (not always the case) for that car in GT6 just poorly mixed. Too much "whoosh" and not enough volume where it counts.

PD screwed up the sounds of Impreza WRC 1999.
Real Sound:

GT6:
The sound of Subaru Impreza WRC 1999 is currently the same as CUSCO IMPREZA or Suzuki GSX 400'86.

I hate to bring this up again, but these 4 console games are really great examples of good sound mixing:

*Horizon 1
*FM4
*FM5
*Horizon 2

YES, they happen to be T10 games. They're the only examples I could think of that really stand out.

Perhaps PD could "borrow" a few ideas here and there.

I want to see GT resurrected. It's been too long.

Now that driveclub is out, we can safely add it to the list too. Throw in pcars too. Their mclaren f1 sample is so close to reality it's scary. The zakspeed capri is another example, and once the game is complete every car will have the same standard of sound replication.

Now, if just one of them would include the v8 f type........

sounds need more resonance in the tunnel

because in the replay there is the resonance but not in the games cockpit view or in a remote view

Wait, are you referring to PCARS here or GT6?

FM4 seem to do a decent job of this, but Horizon's was far better. They improved it even more in FM5 and H2, pretty much no one who's driven a fast car in a tunnel would disagree with you on that one!

GT6
why? example

in the empty streets of tokyo 246 and Monaco tunnel, and other large valley speedway there is no eco while driving IRL in a tunnel or an empty street with a car that makes a loud noise there will be a eco effect that there is not in GT and that's often lacking
