i think the default start is a time trial like in the video, where you are placed on a straight and have a limited amount of time so set a speed record.
as for the infinity sign, my guess would be a continuous free run.

Boring, whats next, watch car paint dry DLC?

Hardly a good comparison considering it allows you to test your cars top speed far gteater than any track im looking forawrd to seeing what cars perform well and in what area

Continuous free run? You should be able to do "continuous free runs" even in normal practice mode without the need of new simbles. Maybe that thing is a sort of skidpad? Something like this?

Another question, maybe an obvious one (but with PD you never know) being this a Test Track are we allowed to racing against AI or human drivers, using the Oval and/or other eventual Layouts?

That downhill section shown on the NSX video... makes me think about how you would "climb it".

A simple uphill in a oval track would be... weird.

An uphill section on a test course would kinda make sense to me, as some cars more than others really seem to struggle through uphill sections with a semi-race flywheel.

While it may not be as exciting as a bit of casual wife beating or such its the best dlc to come out so far for me at least and will be the first time I will have put the disc in for some months. I probably do more testing then racing in GT's.

Yes, you can.

Route X is a massive oval with giant banking corners, allowing you to test your vehicles’ maximum speed and performance, plus some beautiful vistas to rush by at 200mph. You’ll be able to use this track online, and in Arcade and Practice modes.

I get what you mean, though. Kart Space didn't initially allow for cars to be driven on it.

i thought it was test course not just a long straightaway.

You can test top speed, and by the looks of it, you seem to be able to measure G-force, too.

I look forward to the Route X Disappointment Thread. It is an oval, that is it. A big oval. I'll get it as it has day/night and will make for some great photos.

He didn't express it very well but he has a point. Just as people are free to post 'awesome' and 'this is great' people are entitled to post negative comments. But it seems whenever someone does there are the same people over and over again to comment and tell them why they're wrong.

It happens in every news thread. Make a negative comment and you have 10 or more replies of people telling them off for daring to have such an opinion.

i think it looks much larger than it actually is, its porbably a curvature over many miles, like when youre driving down the highway and you see a large dip or hill from some distance, but then upon reaching it you realize that the gradient is spread out over a considerable distance.

Thats only because its the same people over and over again making the negative comments even in threads that say compliment in them. Also it would be acceptable if they did not say the same thing over and over again. Its just a waste of space....we got it the first time.

Anyway back on topic I hope there is a weather system for this track too. That would be the icing on the cake

But with new weather engine, which add puddles :D

I respect PD as they actually provide us content. What said content is is the problem.

I personally think that they should have scaled the track down. I mean, really. Over 30km? That's insane. I would have preferred the scenery of this track put on Test Course (the shorter one you guys know), rather than this colossus.

I'm not despising this track, it looks fantastic. My problem is with the length. I could have something hold down my controller's right analog stick, go to my fridge, make some food, go back upstairs and see that my X2010 is still on the straightaway going 310 mph.

Another question: It says you can measure max G-force, does this mean lateral? If the case is true, then there is a possibility it might not just be an oval.

I don't see the problem in having a 30 Km oval for top speed, acceleration testing and slipstream battles. It's not that it was meant for anything else.

no one knows.
We'll just have to wait a few days to see for our self.

Don't think there'll be a weather option for the track but at least there is a day/night transition. :)
