Special/Ultimate Parts

If backlash is enough they might unlock all the parts eventually. I remember the ******** that were the eBay cars in GRID. Used eBay cars had completely random potential, which had an impact on multiplayer. Eventually they banned those cars from online.

I just leave this here 😉

I’d argue there is a reason to keep the special parts exclusive to the roulette. And it’s just that - to keep them exclusive. Same as the engine swaps. Neither would feel special when a few hours at Spa, Le Mans or Sardegna would pretty much guarantee you enough funds to access them (or Tokyo with that toy car, if you have no soul). Look how easy it is to grind for a 10M car in Legendary. There are countless players who have all manner of eye-wateringly expensive cars in their GT garage. So there’s nothing special about that. The same would apply to special parts if it was only a matter of money.

Now whether PD need to work on the way the roulette works in terms of the chances a player has to win a special part or engine swap, and whether they also need to vastly expand on the number of different special parts and swaps available, that’s another thing entirely.

PD were right to bring back some unicorn features. Special parts feel special, because they’re so elusive. There wouldn’t be threads like this if these parts were available for purchase. There’d be no mystique. It’s just a shame they’re so sparse in number, and it’s a shame the roulette system itself seems so deliberately skewed towards delivering the most disappointing prize of the few flashed under our noses.

I think it’s a case of the reality falling well short of PD’s vision. I’m sure this isn’t exactly how Kaz imagined it. And I’m sure that’s the case because the game got kicked onto sale before it was anything like the all-encompassing experience we were led to anticipate.

I remain optimistic. Just.

Today I won Stage 5 weight reduction for GT-R Safety Car. It can push car weight to 1287kg.

God damn. That upgrade has to be the best of the secret upgrades by far. I have the ultra turbo for that car, and your upgrade is so much better.
Complete and utter rubbish, all parts should be available to buy not hidden behind a scam of a roulette system.

Maybe I didnt say that right. Im not in support of upgrades being unavailable to all. What im saying is that half a tone of removed weight is much better than like 50-100 extra HP.
But it won’t drop the car with half a ton, its from its stock weight to stage 5 its drop 500 kg, from stage 4 to stage 5 it will be less than 100 kg witch will have less perfomence gain than 100 extra hp, of all engine upgrades was available those parts would not be special, thats what keep us excited for them, but i understand that not everyone like that system, but i love secret parts, keep me intrested and keep playing, but i do i agree it needs to be easier than have one slim chance in roulette, and you need 4 or 5 star ticket witch you won’t get every day,

oh okay then, that make much more sense then, haha!

I feel like it would be fine if all races that are atleast 30 minutes (or equivalent in laps) would give one 4-star ticket.

Maybe this is a case of ‘shooting the messenger’. Hear me out.

We’ve grown to hate the roulette system, because that’s the only means of acquiring S parts or engine swaps. But imagine if there were say 10 times as many S parts available - and I’m sure (as I mentioned in a previous post) that was/is PD’s intention, judging by the 1000 part limit in the Garage.

Logically we’d all be winning S parts much more frequently, and the means of winning them wouldn’t be such a contentious issue.

Maybe we’ll get there one day.

I'm not sure that's how the roulette system works. As far as I know, it'll decide that there's a certain percentage chance to get any special part from the ticket, and then decide what part the player earns afterwards.

So adding more special parts wouldn't result in a higher chance to earn one, it'll just increase the variety in what part you could earn once it's already decided you'll earn a part from the ticket. I hope that made sense 😂

Ahh, I see. Yes, that does make sense.

Oh well, wishful thinking perhaps 😁

We will only get there through bad metacritic reviews im afraid. Not that it should hold us back though.

Actually, we could make a list of demands and hold PD hostage through bad reviews. Just for a little while..
I mean, it's not much different then the strategies they have used on us since launch. Like not releasing the ability to sell cars, the credit scandal, lacking content and such. It's not like they would have a moral highground. /s

Have you guys noticed any hp changes after the last update? My lt1 Miata went from 854hp to 829hp. It's not actually any slower in game though.

I did notice a couple of undocumented PP changes, though I forgot to check the HP/torque numbers.

Some weird stuff going on recently. My miata pp went from 802 to 718 BEFORE the update with no hp change (still 854hp). Then AFTER the update, hp goes down to 829, but pp stays the same. I'm tired of guessing at stuff at this point.

I just found this site with roulette probabilities:

https://ddm999.github.io/gt7info/#ticket-rewards-section

So at max collector level, we have:

P(4* or 5*) = 25% + 3% = 28%

and then

P(Special part) = 10%

So overall 0.28 *0.1 = 0.028 = 2.8%

If you do the driving marathon each day and get a ticket, that's approx 10 parts a year. Judging by the range of cars that you can get parts for, it might take quite some time (or luck) to get two parts for the same car.

This is all assuming that the roulette is random. That’s gambling.

It’s pre-determined at the time of awarding the ticket. The other 4 items are added to make the whole thing “fun”…….

I agree. Although I dont think the roulette is truly random. let me explain.
It can never be true random. A pc can not generate a truly random number because there is no way to do so. source
The game does the next best thing, it uses an algorithm and seed to generate a pseudo random number.
This calculation takes place when you click a ticket or when the game gives you ticket, or maybe even the moment you open the game the first time. No matter when the ticket is calculated, it is still pseudo random and pre-determined using a formula of their choosing, like 0.01% chance of an engine. The other 4 items are as you say, just added for "fun" but just ends up being frustrating as the formula for those items are skewed towards better rawards.

Finished everything in early March. I have only received special parts from the marathon tickets. Didn't receive any in the cafe. Nothing left to do but grind for cars/tuning money and wait for my group of friends to sort their garage. Online is garbage currently.
So you don’t have anything left to do because you let a script do everything for you?

Does it have high compression pistons?

Yes but I can't run a supercharger with pistons at same time..it's 1 or the other. Why do you ask?
Axing the ability to run forced induction and high-compression pistons at the same time is one of the semi-documented changes in 1.16. That would explain why the Subaru LT1 (edit - I thought the donor was a Subaru, but that transplant-of-a-transplant is a rather modified LS7) engine went down in power.

Ahhh I just thought it was always like that. Thanks broski. I have a bunch of seat time in the car and the hp change definitely did not slow down the car...same mph on shifts and same top end speed. Interesting..
