SpeedART- Birthday Update!

well it wasn't exactly a big deal, i was just nit picking, and it wasn't about the foglights, what i was trying to point at, and you dont have to worry about it coz maybe it's just me, but i noticed the light around the foglight and the lower right part just outside the bumper has that weird reflection around it from the light coming from the foglights, but then again that's gt4's fault. forget that i pointed that out though :D i was just being picky.
Okay mate, I will forget about it..
nice previews Speedster.:)
I like the colours and the crazy car.:P
Thanks Vince!

U really have improved a lot Speed!!!
I like both Prius updates...but what happened to the side mirror in the 1st shot?
The 2nd shot is my favourite, camera, lightning, sense of speed...all of that is very good!!!
So...hope to see U in the Tournament once more:tup:

Ummm....I demolished it? Funnily enough, that previous shot (preview) I did consider putting into the tournament but forgot about it at the last moment so now I can't but I WILL be entering the tournament I want to get further than I did last time and the time before that. Now to find the car.....

Hi guys, I know it has been quite a while since I have updated but finally after almost a month of waiting, it is done. Now before the people with short attention spans skip to the pictures I do advice you read the text as it fits in with the images. Also I apologise for the spelling mistakes on the Prius image.

A month ago I received my Topgear like I do every month, but this one really inspired me, this is what bought on this update. Another thing that almost provoked me was the fact that was my next update was to be my 50th, so it had to be big. So here it is my 50th Update.

Just one last thing before we get started, I am not a tree hugger, environmentalist, green peace associate, just a young teenager that loves cars and cares about what is happening to our world.

50th Update: Save Our World

Our world is a delicate place, if one thing would be to go wrong it could ruin our planet. Something is going on in our world; don’t act like we don’t know it, global warming is a problem it is heating up the poles making them melt. Sadly, and I am not happy to admit it but cars are one of the causes of this, we can pretend that they aren’t but we need to face the facts they are doing some damage to our Earths atmosphere.

There are things we can do to slow this process down. As young people, well most of us are only teens, we can do something about it. We all love cars on this forum and we all care what happens to them. We certainly don’t want them to be banned or restricted. The problem with cars lay within their fuel supply.

There are many new alternatives for our beloved petrol. Firstly, we have the new kid on the block of alternative fuels, bio-fuel. Bio-fuel has evolved so much within the past few years. Sweden has been leading the parade. Koenigsegg is now the biggest company going with bio-fuels. Especially with the latest Koenigsegg, the CCXR this brilliant car runs on pure bio-fuel it delivers 1,004bhp with only half of its original carbon foot print. That is quite a feat in its own, let alone being an economical super car at the same time.

Another new fuel source is hydrogen. Hydrogen, although being like a bomb in many cases, is now a reliable fuel source, almost. Japanese companies are testing like mad with this fuel source. No emission’s apart from water come from this fuel source. And they can be pretty nippy at the same time.

Another one is now electric. Electric cars used to be…well rubbish. They could only go a certain distance needed to be re-charged every day etc. But now they could be a real alternative. The most recent of which being Tesla. The Tesla is practically a Lotus Elise rival now. In other words its quick, 0-60 in four seconds, enough range to get you from London to Plymouth and with Lotus know how to let you enjoy the drive, this could be the future of cars and the team at Topgear like it, and I don’t blame them. Lotus has been working on electric cars for what seems like forever so I had to use a picture of one of their cars in my update.

The next 2 alternatives aren’t necessarily new infact they are both pretty ancient.

The first being diesel. Now don’t groan and skip to the pictures but diesel has really evolved recently. Some diesel cars have a really high MPG, not necessarily a low carbon foot print though. Remember a few years ago a Vauxhall team created the Vauxhall ECO Diesel this could do 113 miles per gallon. That’s a lot for a sports car.

The next alternative has been here all the time, just nobody thinks about using them. Yup, it’s the small city car. The small car is phenomenal. Just think about it it’s a tiny car that’s: practical and economical. The main one I am aiming at is VW’s Polo and Lupo. Jeremy Clarkson once said that he managed to get 84mpg out of one that was higher than a Prius that went down the same route a few days earlier. I don’t understand why people who live in the city buy a 4X4 its utterly pointless, why buy a gas guzzling 4X4 when you can buy a tiny car that’s environmentally friendly.

Right then, you thought it was all over now but it isn’t. There is one last chapter to this…essay.

The Prius. Toyota’s monstrosity of a car. This car is no more environmentally friendly than a Nissan Primera. Here are the facts:

Acid rain created from mining nickel for the Prius batteries has destroyed the landscape in Sudbury, Ontario to such a extent that NASA now uses the area to test drive lunar vehicles.

Despite being smaller and emitting less CO2 than a Toyota Prius the VW Polo Blue Motion is not exempt from London’s congestion charge.

Anti-car evangelist Ken Livingstone doesn’t even have license. But he does have a Prius.
Facts Provided By TopGear Issue 166

Basically unless we, as a younger generation do something about global warming then we are going to ruin it for our children and our children’s children. We need to do something about it; I hope this update and essay has inspired you to do something to help towards the environment. I believe that our governments should provide a sum of money towards car manufactures to help create a more economical fuel source so are world can become a better, cleaner place.
Thank You For Reading

Agreed, everyone needs to do their fair share to make our world a better place. Thanks for your comment!

Yeah this is amazing, its awesome to someone inspired like this. Did you write everything in your own words too, I'm sure you did...

+rep from me too, I love the idea and I'd like to see more of this.

that's so true. what's happenning is scary actually. parts of bc canada where i am, are already getting hit by floods and landslides, not to mention the weird weather that we've been experiencing lately. it's scary considering no one knows what's gonna happen next, and that we've no control over it. great update altogether speedie! great facts with great photos and a clever
concept to go with it. but if you think about it, the machines that produce the earth friendly cars also make a difference. i think they should just stop making them altogether and we should just ride bicycles!

Thanks Loon, Of course I wrote everything in my own words all 965 of them :). Thanks also for the rep, I will try to do something similar again in a while.

Some of the weather around here in the UK is a bit strange at the moment, like well it is warm here, it is never warm in the UK. I am not joking either its usually really cold or cold never as hot as it has been recently. Thanks for your comment. Just one last thing, surely the machines that makes the bikes do damage as well? Anyway thanks for your comment.

i agree. it's supposed to be the end of spring here in vancouver, and it's almost like early fall. and yeah, the machine that make bikes cause havoc too :D i guess we loose either way  i dont know. it's complicated i guess. but i really love what you've done on your last update :)

ps: perhaps walking would be the only solution, but i can't walk 10 kilomteres everyday!

Thanks man, means a lot to me. Basically, to put it simply like Paul Horrell said
"Is the climate changing? Yes. Is this down to man-made emissions? Yes. Will this have an effect? Yes. Does this matter? Yes. Put simply, as a planet, we're in cack"
Quoted From Paul Horrell Topgear Issue 166

Thanks for your comment anyway!

Very cool update I must say. The shots look really effective and could fit a "save the world" advertisement. 👍

+ rep

Thanks freddy, that was the whole idea of the update. I wanted it to look as professional as I possibly could. Also thanks for the plus rep.

Any of you people that have already commented please tell others about it as I want to get as many people as I possibly can commenting on this update. Thanks

Okay, this is really dissapointing. I have put loads of effort into this, it took me a whole month to do it, the writing is written in my own words that took me a day in its self to be written. And so far I have had 6 replies. Which is pathetic, I had more replies when I was a newbie. Is it something I said that makes you guys that haven't commented not want to look? All I want is more people to comment. I am fed up of only having the usual commenting, which at the moment are my only true friends here, the ones that usually comment here know who they are and have already commented on this update.

Damn nice update speedster. Your writeup is a pretty interesting read, you seem to really care about about global warming. As much as I love regular gasoline engines and cars, we definitely need another fuel source that is much cleaner and that won't run out. I gave you a +rep too.

Thanks Krame! I do care about global warming too. I completely agree with you about the car part. As a planet though we are in deep, deep trouble unless we can really pull it together and quick. Thanks for the plus rep as well, I really appreciate it.

Nice update Speedster!
I like the shot's very much..:)
especially the diesel shot.
I've always liked diesel, so that's even cooler.:)

great stuff. +rep if I could give it.. have to spread first...

 No worries Vince! Its the thought that counts. Glad you liked the diesel shot. Thanks again!

Nice idea. I hate, HATE and H A T E those crap cars because I only bealiebe in gasoline, but oh well, everyone need to help to save the world. Gasoline for automobile enthusiasts, and biofuel for massive transportation ;)

Some details could be improved, but those photos are cool.

You've got a very nice idea for an update here, it's good to see something nice and original on GTPlanet!

That aside, some of the shots are, I feel, a little dull to look at. The hydrogen photo is very well carried out with the river visible in the background and the Polo shot looks great with it's vivid, exciting colours but the rest of the photos are just a little unexciting for me.

It seems like you've concetrated too much on the idea by adding text all over the place and because of this you've forgotten about the main factor; the photos themselves.

I'm also not a big fan of the presentation method you've chosen as all of the boxes are out of size with each other, some are small and some are large. Could they not have all been placed into one big banner?

Sorry if all of this sounds really harsh but I like to say what I feel and I know for a fact you can produce stunning photographs and these just don't do it for me. It could just be me being picky though.

Thanks Moglet for swinging by. I know the shots weren't brilliant although I am glad you liked the Polo and the Hydrogen car shots. I probably did forget that the shots were a major part of the update and I got carried away with the text tool.

I don't understand what you are on about in concern with the presentation when all the boxes are all the same size? And a banner? What do you mean?

Your not being harsh at all Moglet. I really do appreciate the fact that you have even come to comment on my gallery. At the moment it seems no one wants to comment on it which makes me feel depressed. I know these aren't my best and I promise they will be back to normal by next update. I also need to talk to you about cleaning techniques, I think I need some new ones...Thanks for commenting though.

I've just realised why they look out of place, it's because on my screen the 'boxes' that you click to see each update aren't all fitted together. If I stretch my browser window to larger than usual they all fall into place correctly but on my screen they're all shown one below the other. No idea why, it seems to be just my computer. Sorry about that.

It seems that these galleries have got much quieter lately overall, I'm sure it's nothing to do with it just being your gallery. It's still a very original update and if people don't want to see some originality in GT4 photos then they're probably not worth listening to anyway.

I've still got no idea why people continue to visit my gallery just to see photo after photo of shiny cars looking all blurred

Thats fine Moglet. Thanks for your comment, I think the reason why galleries are really quieting down is the weather (well not since Wednesday in the UK) it is also Summer. Thanks again Moglet. People visit your gallery because you have talent in photo editting, same of which I wish I had. Also, I love looking at shiny cars.....:)

wow nice shots! i love your save the planet theme the best one? hydrogen or the bmw 1-series

Thanks SimmiS.

I might well post my tournament entry, but personally I think that it would be better to post more fresh material than older stuff.

Sorry haven't commented in a long time Speedy, haven't been well.
Anyway, nice interesting and unique update you got here. It is a very major subject at the moment and you have covered it well.
The shots themselves are good, some could be better but you do have a good range of shots. The Prius is very well done, the best out of the batch imo. I can also see that you have got the hang of Zoom Blurring.
I am having the same presentation problem as Mog, the boxes are all on top of each other. :dunce:

Sorry for the small comment, if I felt better I am sure I would have more to write. You have done a good job on the subject matter though, keep it up and keep your confidence up. Also good luck in the Tourney, look forward to our match. 👍

Thanks for commenting Tangled Web! I definitely have cracked the zoom blur at the moment. But what I find I am doing is getting a shot that wasn't any good in the first place and then blurring it, which doesn't make it a better shot, so I am trying to get perhaps futher away from just zoom blur shots so you may see more ordinary shot around here. Any thanks for the comment, and good luck to you in the tournament. 👍

Love the presentation, the F1 car was a very nice touch IMO. I dunno about the noisy-look on the Polo shot though. Prius shot looks quite real aswell, apart from the fact that I doubt it could go fast enough for the background to be THAT blurred :D

You're a brave man for making this update, but it's a very original concept 👍 It's also a really excellent way of highlighting the way that the creators of Gran Turismo have purposely included next-generation vehicles which highlight alternative fuels. Regardless of one's views on the automotive industry's impact on the environment, it is a credit to KY and PD that they are in touch with the latest technological advances with regards to alternative fuel.

Great stuff, another excellent example of someone being creative and original with their gallery 👍
