Oh that's an old pic of my car with the "winter" wheels. But yes it is about a 1"drop. Yours I think has 17 or 18" wheels. Mine has 16" wheels. But the stance is perfect IMO.

I would HIGHLY recommend you get coil overs for at least the front of your car. But if you have the extra money then yes get coil overs all around and do it right the first time. Then you can dial the entire car in to perfection for summer and winter. :)

Mine just has the Prodrive 1" Lowering springs. Eventually I will be installing all 4 coil overs.
Edit: I deleted the pic of my car.

A modded b5 S4 perhaps? :sly: nah that's probably a bad idea considering the upkeep on those. Just keep the suby looking that good 👍
Don't tempt me. I LOVE the B5 Audis. I had one (an A4) in college, but I ended up putting more repairs into it than the car was worth.

I've got 18" wheels, but I am desperately trying to find a stock set. Kinda tough when the only year to do 5x100 lug pattern was 2004. They tend to be... over priced.

Coilovers is sounding like a better option. I am going to look into it.

Whelp, my STI is currently for sale! (Disclaimer: I'm only stating the car is for sale, I'm not trying to sell it here)

I do not want to sell it and it will be near impossible to let go of my dream car. But I am selling it so I can pay to go back to school for my masters. Plan is to replace the car with a Subaru 2.5 RS or something.

I thoroughly enjoyed the car, though. I'm happy to have owned it. It's going to be a tough sell, I've already had a few people see me (I'm 25) and assume that because of my age, I beat on the car. It's hard to convince people that that was just not the case. It's my only car and my daily driver, so beating on it would have been stupid. Fact of the matter is, it's one of the better STIs in the area, unmolested, desirable color, lowish miles (for a 10 year old car), so whoever gets it will have a good car.

Now I'm sad. :guilty:

:( At least you've enjoyed it and owned an awesome car. There's always the future.

Better to have loved and lost, than to never have loved at all.

Swaps? :3

I'd do unspeakable things to have a WRX like yours in the US. If I were selling my car and pocketing all the cash from the sale, I'd seriously consider buying one like yours and sending it home... except I don't think that's possible unless the car is 25 years old.

Out of sheer curiosity how much does a decent GC WRX go for over there?

The best condition GCs cost about AU$13-14k (mine was $13,200), good condition ones can be found for under $8.5k.

That probably sounds steep compared to US prices but trust me the Rexys are about the best bang for buck you can get on the used market here.

Sorry to hear that. You will have no problem selling that car for a great price. Your car would sell VERY well in my area. You are also right about how hard it is to find a BLUE STI that is in good shape. The great news is that you are selling it to pursue your masters which is wonderful news!! Good luck with the sale and your masters.

I think I'd have no problem selling the car at the current price if winter weren't just around the corner. A big negative is the car needs tires. I'm not getting a whole lot of interest in the car just yet as a result.

Actually, my cousin is very interested in the car. Sure enough he lives in Michigan.

The car isn't getting a whole lot of attention at all. It's a bad time to sell a car I guess. :/

I lowered the price by flippin $2000, because it needs to go fast and I am desperate. Some lucky SOB will get an STI for dirt cheap.

How much is it may I ask?

And would it not be worth holding on to it till the Spring?

Oh noooo this is sad, always hurts to let go of a car you know from top to bottom and was meticulously maintaned at the same price as others, felt like that when I sold the IS. Don't fret though, I'm sure better things will come in the future. Wish you succes pursuing the masters and look forward to seeing the next car.

The car isn't selling. So here is a picture!

Good news everyone! The car isn't going anywhere! I managed to convince my employer to help pay for my masters. And I sold my camera. :( Very sad about that, the camera was my passion and biggest hobby. Gotta prioritize.

Anyways, that's good sorta. Though I don't think I will be doing much else with the car with mods and whatnot, so I may not post a whole lot here, especially now that I don't even have a camera to take pics. But ya'll be cool now. I will continue to lurk.

Convincing your employer to help pay for your masters is EXCELLENT news! Congrats! Sorry to hear about the camera but at least you are getting help financially and you also get to keep your car. :)

On a side note I am shocked the car didn't sell. If you had put it on ebay it would have sold for sure.

Things worked out great. I know it would have been tough to sell my dream car, so I am happy it stays.

I'm not too shocked it didn't sell. They are common in my area (though, come to think of it I haven't seen another 2004 around) and mine wasn't ready for winter use. Tires are definitely needed. I'm pretty sure it would sell in a week if it were Spring.

Got myself a Cobb Accessport for Xmas. Flashed the stage 2 map to the car. It's noticeably more responsive and I actually feel like the car has ~300 horsepower now. Love it!

I'm definitely happy. Just was hard to justify the price for some reason.

Well with that said, I think I am done with this car. There isn't a whole lot left to do terms of mods that I am interested in. The car has plenty of power for a daily driver.

It will justify itself over time, take some time to look into all the settings and options. Im not sure if you can but there is a flat foot shifting option to which is awesome (Played in my buddies 07 with it). Even running the est. power tests is fun to do. Plus with all the monitoring choices I just like going through and seeing what they are.

I agree with the power/mods for a DD I want a little bit more for my wagon (310whp would be perfect) but then Ill be happy till the wagon becomes my weekend warrior and I have a new DD.

My WRX came with an Accessport but I honestly don't even want to mess with it. I am afraid I would mess something up. Glad you are still enjoying your car after the decision to keep it. I am LOVING mine in the winter. Especially with this apocalyptic winter we have had so far this year 2014.

Yeah these cars are absolutely amazing in the snow, not to mention they are really flippin fun.

Let me ask you, have you smelled fuel from your WRX on a really cold day? I know there was an issue with the fuel lines under the intake manifold leaking in cold temperatures that Subaru issued a recall for on the 2002/3 WRXs. But the issue still happens on later model years. The last two days here in CT were very cold and I could smell fuel so bad I had to roll the windows down. (Probably not a coincidence that it's the 2 days after I got the Accessport, but that's another story)

YES!! I have smelled fuel on a couple really cold days in my WRX!!! Ironic you should ask. I took it in and they tightened some fuel rails or something under the hood. It helped a little but still, there are times I smell fuel when it is cold out. Good thing I am not a smoker.

I have never smelled fuel in our RS. Only the WRX.

Yup, it's a nice issue with these cars. Gotta love the smell of raw fuel in the morning. Luckily the issue only lasted 2 days for me and only on super, ridiculously cold mornings.

I wouldn't worry about it unless you see puddles of fuel.

I have noticed a slight gas smell on start up in cold weather sometimes, like when I let my car warm up before I leave work at night (12am). Like you said though it's not every time and it's usually pretty cold out.

Does your reverse gear play games with you guys? Sometimes when I try to put it in reverse it feels like it is in gear but then when I try to go NOPE then just gotta try to put it in again, it's very random and not super common but it has happened a few times now. I have learned the slight difference in feeling to know right away that I just need to try again but it's strange. I have seen other scooby's do the same thing.

Is this before or after you put the short throw in? Or both?

I don't have any issues with reverse. Clicks right into gear and works every time.

I dont have my SS in yet, so just on the stock setup, I guess you also have the 6 speed with the reverse lock so the mechanism is different from the WRX. Well if you ever see a WRX's reverse lights go on, off, and then back on you know whats happening haha. I had a laugh at a meet when I noticed a bugeye do it. Like I said its not common and once you know how it feels its easily avoidable but just interesting.

I also feel these cars change with the weather. Depending on if its hot or cold they do slightly different things, make different noises, and just feel a bit different.
