you desperate to race and you are very desperate wanting to be on the front row.

each single racer have this mind-set.


it's part of the learning curve, and what you just said is more on how you deal with the competition mentally.


Racing, most part is about driving, but, more important is "how you drive".


not about "how you drive to win", but "how you drive to be a better driver."


here's how i look at it:

before you think about the ranking/position, you want to think about how to drive a clean race.

clean race as no mistake + consistent + on the limit.


when you can do that, then you start thinking about the ranking.

with the best laptime you've got, what does that laptime place you on the time-sheet??? top? mid? back??


each race I will look at who I am compete against, then I know what position/ranking I fall into. If I am racing against Mphile, EHTeam and simalive, I will not expect I will be the winner or top 3.


if I am racing against Manny, Tjger and OB, then I expect I should to be at least the top 3.


you said you become desperate when fall below top-5, but you have to look at one thing... "are you faster than the top-5?"



racing is not only about ranking, but mainly on how do you manage your own race such as laptime, consistency, patient and self-discipline, lastly the ranking.


I know i might not cover all your problem, but it is a good starting point for you.

OB, these are real wise words. Think about them and don't give up!!!

If you allow me, I can talk about me experience by driving the Viper. I was never able to drive any Viper... too much rear power, too much drift, impossible to drive!!! :yuck:

As Tjger proposed me to drive the #51, I took that as a real challenge and was only thinking of how to tame that beast, but in the end I just learn to drive it by driving, and driving, kms and kms...
And I never thought about neither winning a race, nor top 3, 5, nor any ranking. I just wanted to race till the end, by driving as good as I could and fighting 'till the last second!!! Tjger will remember what happened at Spa and me too of course... :lol:
I was so incredible tired after the race, but I thought, man that was such a fun!!!

Of course I've got some help from the guys here for having a good tuned car. And I'm pretty sure that these guys would be ready to do it for you as well... Simply ask...

I don't know which impact my words will have to you OB, but you really should consider Alexs' words!!! 👍

I wish I was that great bro but at least I'll have so much fun trying to beat everybody's times. lol
 
Yeah i can gieve a few not considering how to achieve a perfect lap that depends on track car combo driving style adjustments etc.
But a very important part is the mental Part in Time Trials.
  • Have faster friends in your Friendlist it helps following their lines
  • Dont restart everytime you did a small mistake unless you are already in the top 250. If you are 2 sek behind for example you can gain more in every corner than you loose for having 2 miles less on the main street
  • Do Session of a lenght that fits you. I can only run for 1h or 2h after that i need a break of at least 1h.
  • Get consistent. A common mistake people make is that they believe that there is something like a golden lap which gets you like 1 sek improvement. Thats not true you need to get consistent in you laptimes than you will improve but it will only be by a few thenths by the end even less
  • Be always there on the first day. Else all the ghosts of your friend list will be to far away to learn something
  • Stay calm. I know it can be hard (Hello last year Mt. Panorama white lines and last chicane apricot hill)
  • Learn the basics like Trail Braking, Enigine break, wheight shift while shifiting etc.
  • Remind yourself of what you want to achieve and push hard for it dont let yourself go (I improved my time last year in Mt Panoroma for more than for 4 sek in the 2 weeks=
Hope that helps. Everbody can do it with enough dedication and a bit of skill. Of course there is also luck. It helps if it is a car you like and a track you like for example
 
I'll try to be at a PS3 enough to do GTAcademy too but I'll only be aiming for the gold times to take the credits & the free car.

It's great that it gets everybody back in the seat working on the same event & I love seeing the fastest guys really getting into GT but I have no desires to go to the finals or to become a racing driver.

I haven't done a great deal with my wheel so I'll maybe even just use the DS3 & as I haven't got any spare buttons on that*, I still haven't ever used manual transmission. I may still develop my skills further in terms of racing online & I do enjoy Gran Turismo but, as I said, I have no desires to do any more than that.

I'd laugh if @o_OPaTricKO_o won GT Academy. He'd be the oldest driver.
Aren't most of the winners in their 20s?

No not really. The scoring system is a little diffrent to say at least you can be the fastest on GT and still be eliminated and the other way around. Also everyone who is there has some kind of motorsport experience so the switch to a wheel is easy. They were not to far off. Because you cant pratice the aliens are not that fast.
You just have 3 laps and they count GT is more of a mental test in Germany than an actual driving test. You are incredible nervous everywhere are camaras. You drive some random track car combo and you need to deliver.
